I'm not a girl, so I can't say whether it's a turn off or not. But guys whining about not having a girlfriend makes me want to turn me ears off, for sure.

I completely agree! I am sooooo glad someone finally posted this.

It sometimes feels like guys between the ages of 18-25 have a one track mind - get a girl, get a girl!!! I understand feeling lonely and wanting to find that special someone, but if thats all we can see in you, it is a little unnerving to some of us. (or maybe it's just me) I have never dated a really good Christian guy - and I look forward to the day the Lord brings one into my life. And it would be SO much more special to see that he really loves the Lord. That he really is making an effort to have a relationship with Christ. I will never date a guy who is just looking for a girl to fill the emptiness in his heart - because I know for a fact that I can't fill that hole. It's God's place alone - and yea, I'm sure theres a spot for me in there, but I think you get my meaning.

It's not always easy waiting for the good ones to come along... But if the young Christian guys would get their act together (and im really impressed with a lot of them on here ;) ) then I think you would be that much more attractive to us. Or at least you would to me :p lol

I heard a saying once that "A womans heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her."

~So it goes both ways:

- Girls, hide yourself in Christ (a wonderful song for that is Average Girl by Barlow Girls & Wait for Me by Rebecca St. James)

and

- Guys - Fall in love with the Lord - because He will bring the woman along that He has for you. You will be built into the man she needs and is looking for. (and I dont have a song for that :p)

You have summarized some reasons and that's great.
from my point of view.. now more and more often we look at each other and try to judge what's the main reason why he/ she is single. to my mind, people are too much into themselves these days. it is quite easy to pretend that you do not see others around, it is easy to say that "this is the way I am".. and that "this is the way I am" is an excuse in every situation. just say "this is the way I am" and be sure that's absolutely acceptable. why? because now it is like tendency to be and let others be "the way they are".. I am not saying that to avoid this we shoud dissemble, what I mean is that words "this is the way I am" cannot be an excuse. because behind such words we can hide, we can hide the real reasons that make us behave "the way we are", for example, shyness, complexes. what's more? for me the most convincing explanation why more and more people are single, is that the roles of man and woman have changed. men may put no effort in making relationship, because women tend to be more active.. in fact, women took this role from men- being active. I am happy that you have written the ways how men should behave to make relationship. I really do hope people will find this useful. I found it interesting :)

ahh yes! i have MORE to say! :p who'da thunk! :p

I was scanning through the forums again - and I saw the title for this thread "Why Am I Single?" And I thought for a moment, and realized we are constantly asking that question. But maybe we aren't asking ALL that we need to, to get our answers.

Maybe if we changed our question and mindset from simply "Why am I single" to "Why am I single, LORD? What are you trying to teach me? What more do I need to learn?"

There is a reason and a plan behind our singularity lol and maybe its because God is not quite finished with us yet...maybe we aren't completely molded into that man or woman that our other half needs.

Just a thought! :)

Oh! I in NO way meant that against your title or the idea of this thread at all!! I am sorry if it came across that way. I just meant that for those of us out there wondering that very thing, maybe we need to add a bit more to our wondering...

It had nothing to do with your title or idea :)

I agree! That simple wording change can totally change our perspective into where it needs to be.... and waiting is a part of the Christian walk. I've recently been thinking about some of the OT examples - Joseph, David, Moses, Paul, and others -- they were put into positions where God had them wait, and they learned submission and humility.

"No personal holiness. If you have your heart set on all the things the world loves, worldly music, wicked movies, etc, do you think you impress a Godly girl"

Hey are you saying that that I'll be less adequate for a christian girl if I have michael jackson on my ipod?

Perhaps. Michael ''Wacko Jacko'' Jackson's music isn't what someone should consider ''holy''.

Music is a major issue though with holiness, which is why I added it.....

Hey thanks for agreeing with me, who doesn't! have MJ on their ipod? Sure he's got some questionable stuff, but most of his stuff is mere poetry, with awesome beats, it that wrong? If that's sinful, then I guess downloading a love poem online and playing some guitar music along with the lyrics is also wrong isn't it?
I wouldn't like to have a girlfriend so strict (legalistic) that she can't put up with a decent song with non christian lyrics. That's just going to the other extreme and that's very dangerous......(legalistic)
