I will never forget the Yuma desert. As a teen I losst a day there in 120ºº+ temps betwen Walton and Yuma. No I will never forget that day, well what I remember of it.
Oh a sstory of humanity, a good Samaritan. I lost consciousness whilre remaining soemwhat amubulatory at about 10 am, the next thing I remember was laying on a wooden picnic table under a palm covered shelter seeing nothng but a light green. That color was from the watermaellon I had my face in gobbling it up for the moisture.
One of those horrible Mexican workers saw me and new exactly what was wrong and gave me the melon. I suppose he cut itin half first.. I had been laying there delerious for some time until he, that wetback, came as my angel of mercy. There were more tables under the shelter and a very nice america Amercan family enjoying their res and goodies at the table just a few feet away. Gee, we never know where God's work is until it is being accomplished.
PS..in cdas you are wondering I was htich-hiking from Missouri to California when this happened. It waqs explained to me by a Sabra in Israel that when a person loses consciousness or rather goes delerious in the dessert cue to heat, he or she if on a road or highway will follow it until arriving to some thing that is right to him. If that person is struck inopen land he or she will walk untill totally collapsing or until arriving to a road crossing the path and simply sit down..s....now, aren' you glad I told you that?
