surviving driving for hours is indeed something to be thankful for!
i love driving for hours. it's something that in a few generations may not be possible if we remain dependent on oil for fuel. i love driving by myself for hours - driving scares me. but i'm not afraid; i pray a lot while i drive. being alone in a car for hours is sort of tantric; the hum of the road and the motor, the infinitely repeated lines and guardrails -- the same things that make some people drowsy on long road trips, i find meditative. i listen to sermons, bible studies, tune in to odd am frequencies that fizzle in and out of tune and in my mind become disconnected from the world and focused on communing with the one i'm trusting to help me arrive safely. driving takes concentration and awareness, but it's repetitive, simple tasks. whenever i'm faced with "jobs" like that, where many people get bored, i separate the part of my conscious necessary to do the work and take the opportunity in my mind to to seek God, meditate on His Word, and just be in prayer.
do you do that?
