No, it's crummy when I do it with a slice of sourdough bread. Sourdough (homemade, "real" sourdough) sheds.

Homemade sourdough bread sheds crumbs all over the place. I make it 30-ish loaves at a time, pop it in the chest freezer and live on the stuff. My mother has made it since I was young.

Commercial sourdough, i.e. the kind one can purchase in a store, does not usually shed. But then it's not real sourdough. Real sourdough bread takes waaaaaay too long to be commercially viable.
