Amen! Yes my sister, he does give us the understanding of ''Action or Punishment.'' This is why wisdom and understanding come from the fear of God, to keep his commands. And to hate evil. Amen! Just as the Holy Spirit teaches us to educate them on the path they Should follow, as he also teaches us on the path we should follow Which is the Way of Jesus Christ!!
The punishment for disobedience is Hell. Which is better to chastise them now, or see them slip into hell. Yes, God is loving but he is also just. And anyone who is disobedient will land flat in hell. This is not an issue of the flesh, this is an issue of the soul, or else how will they know being young and full of foolishness. Discipline your child.

The only one Good is God. Goodness will not get you into heaven. Obedience to Jesus Christ will.

By God's standards, his children hear his voice and obey him. Age does not take authority over the Word of God. If my words were my own then that might have been a valid response but my words are not my own and neither do I speak with my own authority. Many adults are spoiled little children, not of God, but of Satan, and know nothing about what it means to be obedient. Chastisement is good, not only for the flesh to obedience of the flesh, but for the soul, for obedience to Christ.

Being a Christian doesn't get you into heaven. Obedience to Jesus Christ does. Do not boast in the fact that you follow hard after sin. God will judge sinners, but he will spare the righteous. It is better that a child be chastised NOW than to spend eternity in hell. Will you be saved? Are you following Christ? The Lord will judge sinners with great justice. His wrath is being stored up for them. It is better to prune a tree that produces fruit, but any tree that will not produce fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire, the eternal fire.

Do not you know the purpose for Parents? Would you leave obedience, on your part, to God? YOU must obey his commands. If you spare the rod, you will spoil the child.

it was YOU who compared adults to spoiled little children and said it is up to God to punish

besides, in most cultures, whipping, as you refered to it, is torture, and illegal

Most cultures have nothing to do with God. God is righteous and just. No cultural standards match the standards of God. God is full of love and compassion, for this purpose he sent his Rod to the earth to comfort us, not to harm us. But people who do not acknowledge the PURPOSE of the Rod will learn nothing about what it means to be obedient. When we stray the Rod keeps us on the path, not to harm us but to comfort us. If you love your child you will not spare the Rod.

Not harming a child will not save you from hell. Obedience will. And it is Obedience to Jesus Christ that will spare us on that day, when we are judged. But anyone disobedient to Jesus Christ will have no part with him. God never harms his children. Job was not harmed at all. Would you say also that God is not just who chastises his children? Would you say Jesus is not the good shepherd who also is the Rod of God? There is no wonder so many people are disobedient to parents. No wonder why so many parents have no control over their children. Following the standards of man who say spare the Rod, rather than the standards of God, who is just in EVERYTHING he does. Who do you follow? Jesus or man?

I know I won't be a fan of physically disciplining my kids in the future. Some psychological tests have shown that people who were physically disciplined (not abused) as children are more likely to be physically abusive, aggressive or violent in adulthood.

If you HAVE TO do so, do it with care and only in the utmost necessary moments. Always or almost always using physical discipline can give your child the impression that hitting/slapping is the only way to deal with being upset.
I don't know my mom hit me and i'm not a violent person. I was a very stubborn kid, and I've grown to be a very stubborn adult. my kids take after me. IF you don't get through to them then they will wander down the wrong paths. sometimes God and parents have to get physical to get our attention. there is a difference between abuse and discipline: it is what inside your heart when you do the action. the action can be the same but if you do it out of love and not anger then I think you are acting as God treats us. I wouldn't spank anyone else's kids (thats their parents job) but I would do it to my own.

I think its better to punish their bodies now then have their souls thrown into Hell because they believe the lie that God love you too much to send you to Hell.

i think theres a difference to useing a hand where a spank can be just a tap but that guy ramon saying to use whips and rods just crosses the line

What these tests show is only that Satan is abusive aggressive and violent. Tests have nothing to do with God. You can't fight Satan with mind games. As the rod is for the chastening of the flesh unto obedience, so is The Rod for chastening of the Spirit unto obedience. If you spare the Rod you spoil the child. And God does not deal with spoiled people.

A tad over-zealous Ramon. You can't fight Satan with the rod either. These three remain.....faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. It is my prayer that you will never find it "necessary" to use the rod on any children that our Father entrusts to your care.

If by "obedience", you mean saved by grace through faith, I'd agree. If by "obedience", you mean "works" or working hard to be obedient, I disagree. It is stated that the law needs only to broken in one area for us to be condemned. Makes one thankful for God's grace, doesn't it ? Incidentally, "good works" is a natural progression of those recipients of God's grace. Obedience isn't God's grace .......but His grace does lead us to repentance. Simple faith my friend and simply trust Him for I'm certain you well know that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Kinda wondering here if you don't have it backwards.
