What facts get in the way of a good story? A country that is paranoid and has a violent culture has higher crime??? NOO WAY!!! That ruins what I BELIEVE AND I WILL BELIEVE WHAT I WANT TO BELIEVE NO MATTER WHAT YOUR STATISTICS SAY! i HAVE A GUT FEELING AND MY GUT IS OBVIOUSLY RIGHT!

On a more serious note, Jesus gave some pretty specific instructions to love your neighbor as yourself, turn the other cheek, pray for those that persecute you. I can imagine if someone were to rob Jesus(assuming he actually had a permanent home) that he would step back and say take my material possessions, they mean nothing to me. My focus is on things above, not on things of the earth. And if you are desperate enough to steal them from me, you probably need those material possessions more than I do!
AMEN!!!!!!!

Ha. So you are going to risk your life by not keeping a gun just because they are merely trying to steal something? The polite thing then is to ask "excuse me but whats the reason for your call? And are you by any chance trying to take my life? Cuz if you are then I'll go get my gun, but if you're just here to steal stuff then have at it."
Chances are you won't ever need to fire a shot. But if the intruder thinks you will, thats all that you need. And if he's willing to take you up on it for a TV then go ahead and shoot em in the leg. And by take you up I mean threaten your life.

like I said: guns bave to be kept in a safe place, am I supposed to say "excuse me, but you are blocking my way to my gun cabinet, could you move please?"

besides, I'd rather be dead, than face God some day and stand guilty of murder, even if it was self- defense.

I have always been required to carry a firearm for job-related purposes, but most civilians buy them, never train with them, don't care for them properly so that they will function property if/when needed, don't store them safely; so for MOST people they are more of a liability than protection. If you won't use one properly, don't know how to use one or hesitate, someone who DOES know how to use it and WON'T hesitate will use it against you. I've seen it more times that I cared to.
