hey, Lynx, actually there are many psychopharmaceuticals that aren't controlled. psychoactive drugs are defined as anything that affects the central nervous system, in brief. i tell you this because i feel you're the kind of person who would want to know. 
nicotine, anti-epileptics, antidepressants, even very common things like good old acetylsalicylic acid (aka aspirin) and other analgesics like the other NSAIDs (ibuprofen and naproxen sodium are a couple you can obtain without a prescription). oh, and alcohol, of course.
when i worked in a pharmacy, some docs would write a prescription for "ASA". the pharmacist knew it was for aspirin, and i guess the patient felt they were receiving better help? sneaky!
