It's interesting that NASA shows us this picture from above but no pictures from below.
It's interesting that a north-south mile is constant and an east west mile is much shorter in New York than it is in Sidney on this photo.

It's interesting that the Earth is going around 1,000 miles an hour but a cloud going in the same direction may only be going 20 miles an hour.
And yet they pass over head.
Doe this mean they are actually going 1020 miles a hour?

The cloud would have to be moving even faster because it's elevation puts it on a larger radius.

False
If I run 2 miles an hour, am I really running 1002 miles an hour?
Absolutely not
If figure somehow or other gravitational pull plays a role in this.

If you are riding on a train that is going 60 MPH, and you are running from the back to front at 5 MPH. How fast does the person on the ground see you running.

If you are running 2 MPH on the earth, relative to you or anyone on earth, the earth is not moving. If you are at a point where you are observing the earth going 1,000 MPH, observing only you, you will be traveling at 1002 MPH.

Depends where you're standing. If you're standing on the earth, under the cloud, it's going 20 miles per hour relative to you.

If you're standing on the moon the cloud is going impossibly fast relative to you.

Speed is always relative. If you're driving on the highway at 55 (relative to the ground, which is all the state troopers care about, so if you get pulled over for speeding don't try to discuss relative speeds with them) and somebody passes you going 65, he's going 10 relative to you.

The Flash could probably run 1002 MPH. Superman too.

Renewed challenge to any who believe that the earth is flat:

Please explain how the sun can rise to the relative SOUTH of Sydney, Australia, such that morning shadows lie toward the NORTH.

On a North-pole-centric flat Earth, this is impossible. However, it happens every day from November through February.

They already covered that one, but I don't have time right now to dig up the post in these nine pages. The sun tracks to inward in our summer/Australia's winter, like a record player needle. It tracks back outward for our winter/Australia's summer.

I'm still curious about those eclipses, but I guess I'll have to wait until I have the data to watch those videos. Why can't they just use typed words to explain it?

That can be explained no more than angels being at the 4 corners of the Earth.

I'll look for the explanation, though if your summary of it is accurate, the explanation is wrong. ;)

I think it was one of Moses' or Gary's posts. And my summary might in fact be wrong, as I don't agree with a word of it myself so I may have muddled it a bit.

I find it interesting, I looked up the eclipse and flat Earthers.
Here's what I found.
Article after article repeating the same thing over and over "here's what flat Earthers think", "here's what flat Earthers think".....
They have this necessity to prove that flat Earthers are wrong and they hope by a numbers game that the world will agree with them.
How childish.
