I recently got hurt at my work because of negligence of leadership. I am healing from frostbite . I should of never had done what they had asked me to do. But they are running it at a speed the line cannot keep up with. So use any means necessary to get the food out.
I am sharing this to maybe give some a clue why people are quitting jobs. We have jobs that people get hurt at because it is all about money. We have jobs that will not give you breaks unless you're under age. People making rude comments to these people because they are having a bad day(retail) . We have jobs being offered that will not give you 40 hr.s no matter what. They want you to work 7 days a week up to 39 hr.s. But no benefits. They have jobs being offered that the management does not help or even train them. But come out of their office to yell when something goes wrong. They have jobs that want you to work 70+ hr.s a week. Never get a day off and tell you to suck it up buttercup. But yet they have children that need their parents to spend time with. My favorite is the ones that allow people that play on their cellphones or hide from work, while you do 2-4 people's jobs. Just my insight on what is going on and understanding why some people do not want to work.

So much reason to truly believe the Lord, Jesus Yeshua, is returning soon, to gather His Flock to Him. You truly are a blessing for voicing what so many cannot say. I pray to see you there, amen.

Sounds like a job I had at Walmart years ago. Absolutely, not one minute allowed over 40 hours. Of course, they still expect you to answer customer inquiries even though it would affect your total hours. Short staffed.

Their idea of management is to just tell you to get the job done but will not provide tools, resources, or sufficient time to accomplish what is expected.

I was alone in the bakery once; this manager says to stock the mini-pies up front. Said that it would have to wait otherwise the bread would burn. Hung up on me. Screw the mini-pies. Turns out there were none to stock in the freezer as someone neglected to order them.

Typical.

It is so crazy. My son works at walmart as a cart pusher. They leave him alone on busy days. He used to worry about getting all the carts. I go there is one of you do what you can. He started to slow down and poof they found him more help.

I learned that if we accept some thing we get more of the same.

God wouldn't tolerate your working environment..Nor should you.

Can you switch jobs? Apply for welfare? Shouldn't be at the mercy of bad employers.

Can you retrain as something else?

I already put in for a job somewhere else. I will not stay where I do not feel safe .

I will admit things are pretty rough out there, so don't take what I'm going to to say the wrong way; I understand hardship. Count your blessings and those things you have to be thankful for. The Lord dislikes grumbling.

I am just weary of people who are retired or don't work for a living complaining about those who aren't or in between job's . But if you took it as grumbling ,you took it the wrong way. That is why it is called insight on what is going on.

Early in my career, one of my supervisors gave me a copy of this quote by Elbert Hubbard.

"If you work for a man, in heaven's name work for him, speak well of him, and stand by the institution he represents. Remember, an ounce of loyalty is worth a pound of cleverness. If you must growl, condemn, and eternally find fault - resign your position, and when you are outside, damn to your heart's content - but as long as you are part of the institution, do not condemn it. If you do, the first high wind that comes along will blow you away, and probably you will never know why."

I am sure there is wisdom in this. But I would propose an alternative understanding.

If you accept what you are given you get more of it. If you ask for more you are given that too.

It's dangerously close to ask people to accept bad situations (bad deals) rather than better their circumstances.

Be grateful for what you have. But you can always usuallg leave a bad situation or bad deal unless you're imprisoned or a slave.

God doesn't expect us to accept an abusive or exploitative relationship.

Well, we can agree on one thing: If you have a job in which your life or health are in jeopardy and management doesn't care, then quit. I've quit jobs like that before.

It is taught us all that a worker is worthy of his wages. Now, though this is not stated outright in the taching, I do believe this mention of wages is a wage worthy of raising a family, not being cheated.

I am considered old, and I am retired, not from a profexxion but after working from the age of about a4 at low or no-paying jobs, I managed to attain to my ss payments and my savings, meager that they are.

My econimic situation is not something established in stone. I am well awre the rug can be pulled out fron under me at any time.

When I hear what you post andd know what was going on in the90's before I finally quite working, I am very sorry for anyone who has to rely on a jpb paying an honest wage. You are worthy of your pay, and aactually more aftr having been mad to beinjured at your work. My prayers are for all young people and all older people working today, for it seems to me the devil has taken over the economies of this tired old world. God bless you and give you a good job with honet pay.

I have had several people talk like people do not want a job. That is the only reason I put this on here. It is an insight on what goes on at these jobs. They lie to people and when you start the job and sadly have to leave it have had people make remarks. I was put at the last job for God's purpose many these days do not serve the Lord. But I am not staying. My hands are much better and still a little discolored from the frostbite. But they are almost healed PTL!

All valid complaints. But the real reason it's happening now is the push for socialism. People believing either the government or the 1% owe them something so they don't have to work.
And many that do work do it poorly. I recently read where a business refused to hire young people because they were so much trouble. The final straw for them was when a new, younger, employee wanted her bf to hang out at her job all day so they could chat while she worked.

It's been a while since I've worked (disabled) but last I worked 39 hours was still full time, hence benefits. In fact anything over 32 hours a week was full time.

If you're in the States, wouldn't what you describe as your injury and work conditions fall under the purview of OSHA ?

Before COVID and the lockdown AOC and Bernie Sanders were touting the positives of Socialism and expansion of the nanny state.

Stay home, get a paycheck without a job, let government pay your bills, rent, mortgage.

I think it was less than a year later and that's what happened during COVID and the lockdown.
Stimulus checks, mortgage and rent deferrals , laws prohibiting eviction for no payment of rent.

I think lockdown was a social[ism] experiment. Testing how over reaching government could go before we rebelled. Shuttering churches, arresting pastors for non-compliance, etc...

The governments of the world do not generate monies for anything other than to collect taxes from working people
Even our Father required people of Israel to pay tithes in order to support their Theocracy and d to make certain the needy of the country, Israel, were well taken care of.
That is not evil, that is what is called Christian,

I see a lot of retiree's re-entering the work place. Sadly, FICA is still taken out of their paycheck. And when they can't live off the FICA tax return in that form of social security checks now, it makes it worse to take it out when they get a supplemental job.

And if they make too much money at that supplemental job their SS benefits are cut.

Some forego retiring and stay gainfully employed.

I know a woman who worked for that very reason. Her job was such that management didn't care about her SS loss should she clock too many hours.

Other employees weren't reliable so she'd have to stay clocked in until a replacement could arrive. Risking her SS to cuts.

She finally quit because management didn't work with her or respect her concerns.

It's a different world now for sure.
My brother-in-law worked one job for 40+ years, never missed a day.

Now, at all the workplaces of friends and even my own, it's typical for people to not show for work. Happens every day.
And when they do show, they still have a job.

I think that's one reason companies hire those over 50. They've a different and usually better work ethic.

Eh... I've seen both happen a lot lately. You're right that some management doesn't give a fart in a whirlwind about the employees, but they are also right about a LOT of people just not wanting to work any more.
