what's the most misquoted verse you have heard in your lifetime? for me, it's Phillipians 4:13. people quote it as, ' i can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me". no, that's not what it says. even pastors get this wrong. it says, 'i can do all things thru Christ WHICH strengtheneth me"! its talking about things. a thing is different from a WHO! remember in school: person, place, thing? please, let's here your often misquoted verse.

"By his stripes we are healed"

That don't got nothing to do with healing of the body.

"Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

Somehow we always leave out the first part of that verse. Can't imagine why...

'Money is the root of all evil' , wrong. 'The love of money is the root of all evil'. I've been correcting the wrong version for ages, and always get a 'oh wow really' moment😂.

Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you......."

Here, God was speaking to the Israelites through Jeremiah, right before the Babylonian captivity. He was basically telling them that He would not forsake them, even during the exile.

This verse is not intended for Christians, especially not as a "get out of difficulty" card.

They say that money
Is the root of all evil
And money doesn't
Grow on trees
I disagree, cause
Most money is paper
Taken from the wood
Like branches and leaves
Need money to live
Need trees to breathe
And we all wanna snap
Branches from the trees
No evil in the money
The evil's in greed

A friend in need
Is a friend indeed
Think twice before you speak
To a friend in need
Lend a friend money
He become your enemy
Beware when friends coming
On a bended knee

..........sigh.......... you are all wrong about the MOST misquoted, but, I am not surprised, because I AM THE WEE ELEPHANT and the KING of MISQUOTATIONS! :)

The most misquoted verse is even featured in one of the best selling Christian songs of all time. I'll skip to the offending part of the song to save time.......

"well the bear will be gentle, and the wolf will be tame, and the lion shall lay down by the lamb..."

Scripture says the WOLF shall lay down by the lamb.....

So, to make this song Biblical, it should be sung:

Well the bear will be gentle, and the lion will be tame, and the wolf shall lay down by the lamb.....

(wee elephant strikes again)

Actually, 1 Timothy 6:10 reads:

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. (NIV

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. (NLT)

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. (ESV)

For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil... (NASB)

In fact, out of the translations I read, only the KJV says "the root of all evil". Rest assured, money was not in Eve's eyes when she bit into that fruit. When I see a tight young thing at the gym and am fighting to look away, money is the last thing on my mind.

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

KJV reads that way

Why I don't read those other translations. They "add" too much to Scripture to suit me.

While the KJV's "simpler" translation is inaccurate and therefore, dangerous.

"God helps those who help themselves."

Trivia Question:. What book, chapter and verse?
That's covered in the part about "go to the ant, thou sluggard, consider her ways and be wise..."

I remember when I saw farmer Williams sitting out on his porch one day and I asked him how things were going. He said fine, just fine. He was going to water his crops but the rain came along and did it. Then he was going to tear his old barn down, but lightning hit it and burned it up.

"Now I'm just a'sitting here waiting for an earthquake to come and shake the taters out of the ground."

No where. I believe that was Benjamin Franklin? I think you could argue that there is some truth in the statement. God doesn't like it when we sit on our butts and wait for Him to drop what we need in our laps.
