Look to the left of your post, under your avatar: Rep Power: 33

(I still don't completely understand the Rep system here.)

There is a limit to how much Rep you can give out in a single day.
There is also a limit as to how frequent you can rep the same person.

I don't know the specifics... trying to find a thread that addresses this..

Go to the user-2-user tech forum. Use the advanced search function and look for "rep points and powers." There are countless threads on it. :)

The new members help thread is a few years old.. You used to be able to give negative rep..not anymore though.. :)

The two buttons next to (BLOG this post) bottom left of a thread post...the triangle is to report a post and the star is to rep (agree with) a post and is applied unto the reputation of a poster...

Where does it tell you the points?
The points if I remember right are in accordance with your rep power...like your case when you rep someone it would be 33 points....when you get a rep it tells you how many points....

And it it to the users reputation? Why and what does that mean?
It just increases your reputation (power) kind of like rank...the longer your here and the more you post and the more people like and agree with what you write your reputation grows....at the end of the day it really doesn't mean much other than you have posted a lot and have been here a while...and that people who are in the same line of thought have agreed with you a bunch..... :)

True.

Although, I rep people l don't get along with. It probably surprises them. (They never respond)

I let them know that at the end of the day, we are all God's children.
Its hard to say it in that tiny little box they give you to write a note, but l try.

You can put a comment if you want to, because most people like to know who to thank for their reps. And yes, they can see them.. :)

Unless they give you rep without liking your post and not giving you their name in the box where you write a short comment.

Once you click on the star at the bottom of the post that you are going to rep type a message in the box. Include your name so that they know who gave the rep.

When I first came here, no one left their name on rep comments. That has changed over the years, and for the better.

As for how many you have to give out to go back to someone you have already repped, I have never figured it out. Sometimes I rep everyone on a good mood day. And I can't seem to re rep someone.

Other times, it seems like a few will do the trick. Or maybe I just don't pay attention? I used to think it was a big deal, but then I realized a lot of people were having fun with it, which is a good thing to do. So I tried to stop being so serious and have more fun. But I do slip back to my old ways, and "only" give reps for "profound" and "deep" posts. LOL

Gotta check myself on that! (And I think rep power is more important that rep points - because it is better to give than to receive. - Acts 20:35)
