i'm actually reading two things:

Fillipo Vadi's "Liber de Arte Gladitoria Dimicandi" (from around 1485)
Untitled-4B.jpg

and Dan Stone's "The Rest of the Gospel"
imgres.jpg

both are good and very interesting, in their own ways - and both are very different from each other, though both actually give honor and praise to God.

Stone's book is primarily about our position in Christ as being redeemed - things that are normally glossed over or not taught in many churches. it's obviously a Christian book..

not as obvious is the other -- but Vadi's 15th century treatise on longsword fighting begins with praising God, and specifically says that this 'science' (as he calls it) should not be taught to everyone, especially angry people, but to nobility, and to 'whoever defends the poor and the widow' - because this is the work of God on earth :)

You're typing an entire book?! The last time I did that was for a cult my late uncle was working for, they had me transcribe their version of the bible (which was so twisted and, back then, I was a half cooked Christian lol).

No, not typing it. (Well, not a lot of it.)

I have the book on Amazon. I buy books, and "convert" them to word documents for easier reading and to be able to post portions at times as I find their points applicable. But this particular book has a glitch, and won't convert. So, I copied all of it, single page by single page (422 pages). And I am in the process of "proofing" it. (Kindle won't "copy" more than one page at a time.... )

The author is a friend of mine, and I had previously proofed a hard copy for him, since he intends to republish a corrected and shortened version of the book... But he is dragging his feet, and I also don't really want a shortened edition.

It's something I enjoy doing, but I still have to reread every word because none of my proofing is on the electronic copy.
