People who misuse and abuse labels. Some people are so pc they object entirely to the use of labels, which is wrong (labels are like stereotypes... They aren't always true, but there's usually something true in them, otherwise they wouldn't exist); other people use labels as an excuse for their bad behavior and/or mistreating other people. Other people are so mentally constipated that they can't see potential beyond labels, which they perceive to be concrete instead of variable. Labels are for description, not restriction, people.
Could you give an example of a misused/abused label?

Rain offends me. Why can't the ground just wet itself instead of having water falling all over the place making roads slippery and everything muddy and wet and causing accidents and traffic jams? When God destroyed mankind he used RAIN (the flood). Studies show that those who live in rainy climates are more depressed. Sunshine causes your body to make vitamin D which boosts your mood and combats depression. And lastly, rain is just one letter away from pain. :p

And yet, I love the rain. Our state is kinda dry and ugly. You hop over to Oregon or Washington, and it's gorgeous in most parts. It does make for a more precarious road situation, but I find people here just don't know how to handle themselves in the rain. You and I both know there are a lot of bad drivers here; the rain just exacerbates their poor skillz. :p

That's because our state didn't bother to build any desalination plants (except for one in carlsbad) so that we can use ocean water even though they knew that we needed it since the 70's when the last really bad drought hit the state. Instead they are building a 100 billion dollar bullet train from Ferguson (wherever that is) to SF that hardly anyone is going to use and is costing 4 million a day to build.

And that is another thing that offends me.. the state building a useless train instead of desalination plants.

Desalination is a very costly process. We've tried recycling water, and studies show it's safe and incredibly clean for drinking, but people have a stigma in their mind when they think of water being recycled (which is fair, but not very intelligent when you look at some of the bottled water the very same people are drinking).

It sounds like it's not the train that offends you, but the mismanagement of funds and mixed priorities. I can understand how that would affect anyone when they affect the greater good of people's well being and environment.

You obviously believe in truth in labeling.

That's what the environmentalists and politicians who are against it are using as an excuse, but its already being built in carlsbad and they said even though the water will cost $2000 per acre foot to process (the amount of water that an average family of 5 uses in a year), customer's water bills will only go up $5 to $7 a month.

The environmentalists are very much against it because they say it will kill a lot of fish that get sucked into the plant.

And its still much much much cheaper than that 100 billion dollar train.

When people expect you to be there for them but they aren't there for you when times get rough.

Self-righteous hypocrites who cannot take when that push comes to shove.

To put it in short...people.

on the subject it can be not saying it always is offensive but when parents get more excited over their outgoing extroverted children just because they are more quiter or like me maybe an introvert that tends to fight being negative because their not 'a breath of fresh air' or 'light up the room' they dont get those comments. I dont think parents realise subtle things can be hurtful to children

Well that's no good. Maybe that offends me, even. :p

Patience is hard with people.

Hey missy, all the best to you and your situation. Nothing wrong with being an introvert. :)

A public school teacher in Virginia had her students write in arabic, there is no god but allah.

That doesn't offend me, it promotes my desire to purchase higher grain ammo.

Alrighty...
Let's say I call myself an alcoholic. This is (obviously) a label we use as a description of someone who stuggles with an addiction to alcohol. Let's say I use this label as an excuse to justify an outrageous level of alcohol consumption because "I'm an alcoholic and I can't help myself." That's me, misusing a label to justify my actions. Now let's try this... Let's say I'm a recovering alcoholic. I'm not drinking, haven't for a while. Let's say someone turns me down for a job, or without any evidence assumes that I'm going to start drinking again at some point because "She's an alcoholic." While it's true that there is always that possibility I could start drinking again, I haven't, and there aren't any warning signs that I will. The first is an example of me limiting myself and misusing a label. The second is someone else limiting me and misusing a label. Yet "alcoholic" is still a valid label if that's what I am because it is an accurate description.

This is all very interesting, but how do I know you weren't drunk when you said all this?

Kidding aside: Thanks for the follow up. :)

Yikes. I can understand your anger, but that's incredibly violent.
