No thanks on the beer. I'd rather have a strawberry Margarita and Jesus. Could I have that? Please........
I suppose you could, Tigress. But I'd be sticking with beer. ;)

Here's the thing, we have been friends for a long time and that's it, nothing more and nothing less so yeah there is nothing to know Desdichado. if it makes you feel any better my friends and I have nicknames for each other. Heck my boss calls me jellybean and one of my college instructors called me humpty dumpy (I fall down a lot lol) and he also called my friend Toyota (never understood that one, she drove a pontiac haha!)

Don't worry, he's not the match-making sort.

I don't fit in. I never did. Anywhere. Ever.

My faith is a very odd thing and it's always put me at odds with others. I am not like many others, so in their mind, I must be wrong. I want to hit people like that. In the face. With a Buick. I can't and won't pick a denomination because I think they all have problems. I refuse to sling mud at Catholics or whatever other groups it's fashionable to talk trash about. All I can do is do what feels right and what matches up with what I have learned and ignore the jeers and boos from the peanut gallery. Fitting in is pretty much overrated anyhow.

Often I think I fit in here, more than I do at church.

On Sundays you see people at their Sunday best, ya know bright, smily, nodding head,
a hand shake here and there. "How are you?' "Fine." More head nodding etc.

When the reality is I'm not fine, I'm tired, I'm bored, I'm stressed, I'm busy,
Im not even sure if I know the person's name who just said hello to me! Ha ha :D
I know that the Sunday best person is a mask and I wear it too.

But on here I see real people with real opinions and thoughts and lives. Part of me is glad
because I'm a real person too just like them. So I fit in nicely.

Besides misfits always fit well together.

The comments aren't directed towards me per say but someone who might express their feelings about something that some Christians frown upon. I am not exactly a liberal person but I don't fit into the mold of what a lot of people think a Christian should be or how they should feel about things.

In younger years the way religion was taught (in religious education) don't question anything. I mean as far as what you were taught . I don't do well with that. I got in trouble in Catholic religious education and when I went to this Baptist church with my Mom.

I try to reach out to those who have been rejected by the Christian community because I was there. In the Catholic religion I was made to feel like a girl who had no clue, I didn't have a clue actually. In the Baptist church I was made to feel like a whore who wasn't worthy of God because I did question thing's and probably because the Pastors Son liked me and I wasn't the glowing angelic piece of perfection they wanted for their son.

I just read read something on here the other day that made my stomach turn. This person doesn't fit the cookie cutter mold most people think should exist to know God and I was afraid to publicly reach out to that person and I'm ashamed of that.
My reply was not about any person in CC or any particular post or exchange in a thread.. My post was a simply expressing a general principle that i believe people should take when dealing with any poster.. No matter how nice or mean they seem to be.. My response was not a personal response about you or your personal situation.. I hope you understand.

In the olden days, when I was single, I joined a church that just had a big scandal, unaware it had. Part of the bad teaching that had gone south (both literally and figuratively) was to be excellent in all you do. (Again, didn't know this at the time. lol) Part of being excellent had to do with dressing the part, so all the women wore nice dresses.

And then there was me. My idea of going to church is wear clean pants and a nice shirt. But, I've never been the type to notice what others are doing to try to fit in. I just thought the women wore dresses because they liked dresses.

Oh, and I joined right after losing a job, so I was on Unemployment, looking for a new job, and living frugally.

One of the women I became friends with might have hinted I should wear a dress to church. I really don't know, because I figure God's seen me on the toilet, so no need to get dressed up for him, and I've been saying that since I first came to the Lord. I know she later threw hints that I should date her BIL that I didn't catch on to, until I asked her to be my matron-of-honor. (Hey. I wasn't hiding who I was dating. It had only been a week, so who would know? lol) So, I now know she hinted at stuff, I didn't catch on to until later, so maybe she did suggest I wear a dress.

I do remember she telling me she talked to the pastor and it was agreed they'd take out $500 from the fund to buy me new clothes for job interviews. I was shocked. I had nicer clothes for job interviews, but I felt like it would just be pride, if I didn't take her up on the offer, so I humbly accepted. And we went out clothes shopping together. When we were done, I had a couple of nice dresses, a couple of skirts and mix-and-match blouses to go with the skirts. It was fun.

The next Sunday, I went to church in my usual outfit -- clean jeans and a shirt.

She asked me why I didn't wear one of my new outfits. "Because they're for job interviews."

When I was dating hubby, he told me the purpose of all that was so I'd look like everyone else. Whoops! Didn't work. Then again, that's why he married me.

My Sunday-best outfit is the real me, minus the pajamas. lol

we've just come on the Thread and are commenting without reading most of the 'in-betweens,...

we say,
'we must fit-in where our Father draws us to fit-in'...and that there is always a 'choice' for us to make,
mostly our wordly heads trying to 'buck' our Father's will, even after conversion, until He puts the
hammer-down' and we take those so important steps that open the way into our future... -
for those whom Christ has called and sealed, there are so many challenges, it's just one day at a time...
we have to constantly search our hearts to see if all is well and right, and honest, within and without...
in our walk into our future...

Brilliant story, but I have to spread the rep around.

The only time I dressed up in church was while in the worship team.
We often had themed clothing or team clothing. So to look smart
we often wore a black top. Or maybe red at Christmas.
At Easter yellow or something colourful.

I love my doc Martin boots, so while other women are admiring their high heels and
glossy shoes, I show off my doc martins. Lol

The only time I wear make up was when playing in the worship team, that's because the
stage cameras zoom right in. (We have screens in the church so the services can be seen
in other rooms). Other than that my make up comes out maybe a handful of times a year.

So cool... I don't wear makeup either and have a pair of docs too!

I think if I found I fit in I would begin to be seriously disturbed lol. Not fitting in just reminds me I am a princess of the King and He will one day take me Home!
