I just ignore the rude ones with the ' ignore' button. that's what its there for.
They soon learn if they want or have a decent conversation with me, they need to make the effort to be courteous, just as I am to them.

I dont really answer to sarcasm. Jesus dealt with rude people all the time he was able to handle it better. I dont expect everyone to be lovely....we all have our faults and we are not all the same and have different views. I just draw the line at nasty personal attacks and report if theres a problem when someone's being obnoxious.

As for WHY people are rude I dont know...some people have been dealt a bitter hand in life and think its ok to take it out on others perhaps.

just need to show them MORE love or pray for them

Sarcasm is a heart issue
Negativity can be a mindset
And criticism can often come out of perfectionist natures.

Yeah totally agree. I’m not trying to compete so I guess the crown goes to you. People are looking for the trolls that show up suddenly and don’t last long, but I’m afraid we have something much more advanced than that here.

There’s a persistent threat of professional of troublemakers who dream up and devise ever new ways of making mischief.
Oh golly geezzzee wow, does this mean youz gonna puts me on Ignorze?

What I wonder is why people here do not realize just how RUDE Jesus Himself could be when RUDE was called for?

There are numerous instances in Scripture where Jesus downright stomped all over the emotional weakness of some folks. First to come to mind are the "money changers" in the Temple.......... I'd say braiding a whip out of horse hair, beating them out of the Temple was RUDE..........or, at least, some here would see it as such. I see it as righteous indignation..........

Yes, and no........ Jesus Himself could be sarcastic. Did He have a heart issue?
Jesus Himself expressed negative statements, was His mindset off kelter?
Ok, you got me on the "perfectionist" thingy. After all, Jesus IS PERFECTION. :)

Perhaps the issue is not how folks perceive RUDE due to some emotional charge - but rather how to bear with their emotional predications to an end of being of service. The fire man is NOT precisely going to ask for permission to haul you from the fire - even though he may very well give the impression that he is being polite when he explains himself and reassures you as he throws you on his shoulders in your underpants and shows the entire neighbourhood your backside. Just a thought.

I didn’t accuse you of anything nor did I even remotely consider you as someone I was describing. So your question sounds like a veiled confession to me, but I’m sure I’ll never really know.

No. I actually don’t have anyone on ignore. My philosophy is that if someone is on ignore then I can’t demonstrate mercy, love, compassion, and helpfulness to them. I’m not even tempted to put you on ignore. Instead I’ll let people go their own way if they can’t be reached. Maybe one day they’ll remember me and want to chat again.

Not sure many of us would agree with your assumption. Seems a bit judgemental, and rude to me.
But sometimes we humans can become passionate about our beliefs, see things in black and white, and struggle with understanding other's points of view.

I try to keep my Christian faith simple, and usually only get involved with issues that are concerned about the now, not what may or may not happen in the future.
There are exceptions (at least I hope I'm an exception and I consider a few people I've gotten to know around here exceptions to the theory as well), but I suspect that a lot of the people who fit the theory would also be the most offended by the theory since well it says that thinking you're all that spiritually means that you are spiritually less.

I would point out that my theory is specifically about the rude / rudest members and why they come to CC and are so rude; it is not a theory to explain every motivation people have for joining the site since there are people who come here for other reasons as well. But if you have a better theory to explain the concentration of rude and divisive people around here (especially in certain subforums), have at it.

An awful lot of the people I know just get into religion so that they can pass themselves off as being more serious than they are. People don't know how to have a normal dialogue, and they like to make themselves feel important and profound by quoting passages of Holy Scripture out of context and apropos of nothing.

I imagine it's possible that there are spoofers on the site claiming to be Christians and just putting themselves forward as cartoons of what they think a Christian is without having any real respect for the belief. That's an extremely common internet problem across all categories of social site, the fake profile is the bugbear of every internet chatroom and lounge.

You'll get rudeness anywhere, and definitely find it more openly/unchecked in online forums. But I don't think rudeness is the domain of a specific demographic, it can come from any age or gender, and social background. Anyway, I just have my say in discussions, and leave off having any further discussion with anyone that is argumentative, rude, vindictive or the like. That removes fuel from the fire. Forum sites often rely on self control and self regulation for management, as you know. I think it's best to just disengage with rude people, report them if it's warranted, and move on.

Now THAT is wisdom. It's even Biblical.

Proverbs 26:20 (AMP) For lack of wood the fire goes out, And where there is no whisperer [who gossips], contention quiets down.

This is the reason I rarely visit the site. So many of us only come here looking for someone to argue with. I joined looking for fellowship, I usually leave disheartened instead of upliifted.

Brother, don't be disheartened by the commotion of brethren who for all sorts of reasons can be difficult. Im just a tad younger than yourself and whilst I have definitely been disheartened on some forums - this one hasn't had that effect on myself. I think the reason is because somewhere in the bowels of the tower there are a few cleaning out the old straw and making it possible to hang the best wall covering above and prepare the beds for silk sheets. Why not have a part in that, brother? What little we give makes for a tapestry by the end of it.

Jesus was never rude in the sense of overstepping boundaries as it was His Fathers temple. Jesus had every right to say and do what He did.

The OP might have to give some examples if hes got a bone to pick of people being rude. Jesus never falsely accused anybody.

i tend to think its either very young, immature posters, maybe even in their teens and they might seem rude but actually they are curious and want to explore their faith

and converse, older, somewhat crankier posters who dont get out much. You can kind of forgive them if they housebound and never interact with others (possibly cos their demeanour is so rude its hard to take) or they are in pain. Some people feel they need to vent...its ok but the venting is not to be directed at the people you are replying to!

If what I say offends you or seems rude, that is on me and I need to apologize .
But is seems some are just to easily offended, and that is on them.

if its a big problem take it up with the mods

I have been on a lot of different forums and this one is actually ok. Actually its pretty good and the mods are fair they arent bullies or control freaks. Also they dont have time to monitor each and every post and some of it is due to they nip it in the bud first by not allowing random threads to start (they all need approval first)

I havent noticed any huge flame wars here or got caught up in anything. But if its just you are new to internet forums you sort of have to figure out the best way to communicate. I do recall a few troublesome posters who just had a habit of offending everybody but it was reported and they were banned. I confess I do need to ignore some just for my own sanity lol

It's the same reason Christians think a man who who lies and cheats, who is steeped in hypocrisy, who has multiple children thru multiple wives, hangs out with a convicted pedophile, has been accused by several women of sexual abuse (and who has admitted to doing so), held a Bible upside down in front of a church he's never attended, incited an insurrection, has been sent by God:

To deceive the elect.jpg
