Ok so I know there are some people on the forum who are really passionate and knowledgeable about health, and I'd love your input! For those of you who don't consider it an area of expertise, that's ok! If you have something to say that you think would help, I'd love to hear it :).

Here's the problem: I hate breakfast! In fact, since I was about 12, I've just skipped it altogether, because I literally have to force myself to eat it and it made me feel nasty afterward. I just...don't want it. I am not hungry at all until 2-3 hours after I get up, and by that time it seems too close to lunch to bother with breakfast.

Then, a year or two ago I heard that not breakfasting was terrible for the metabolism, so just in the last six months or so I've been trying to eat breakfast again. I don't always get it everyday, but I've been trying! I discovered I eat better if I have something hot--eggs, cooked cereals like oatmeal or cornmeal mush, sauteed veggies, fried potatoes, leftover soup/stew/meat from the night before. To one of these I add a fruit and/or some milk, and something naturally fermented like sauerkraut.

I found I could actually eat this stuff! I think between the lacto-fermentation and the hot food, it made me feel a lot better. So I ate happily, fully believing I was on my way to a better, healthier metabolism level.

Fast forward to now, this is the only thing I've changed in my eating/exercising habits, and I am packing on the pounds like crazy, and even more tired and less energized, if that is possible. I'm not a figure-freak. I don't care if I'm not perfectly trim, but I want my God-given body to be healthy, and I want to feel good! So, what am I doing wrong here? Any suggestions or comments?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and respond!
Realistic question here. Are you eating the rest of the day like you always have?

After all, if you are, but are eating breakfast now too, that is that many more calories consumed.

Nope. I now don't feel like dinner at all, (uh...mittagessen...noon meal), so calorie count has stayed similar.

Maybe try sticking to proteins in the morning... like eggs, quinoa, maybe a protein smoothie, which you can get creative with, just throw in lots of fruits and blend everything. I usually do chocolate protein powder with raw milk, bananas and ice. Really tasty, and the bananas are strong enough that they will hide the taste of anything else you decide to throw in there that might not taste so great... like brussel sprouts?

I love bread (especially toast in the morning), but it makes me feel bloated, so I have it in moderation.

Usually small meals every 2-3 hours are best, balanced diet and not too many carbs. The proteins will fill you up!

I don't think grain is meant for human consumption. I notice when I just eat meat and eggs, my weight dropps, my lifts get heavier, my heartburn goes away, my testosterone rockets through the roof, wounds heal faster, I don't get sick..... life is just better.
Are you an "O" blood type? Dietary needs and blood type are related :)

No, I'm B+........ My mother in law claimed that, she read books on it, but no medical physician can confirm that belief. My former mother in law is kinda a hippie, so I think it's hippie science.

Thanks for all the tips, people! I've been trying to apply some things and it is already getting a bit easier. (At which time my mother grumbles about the "elasticity of youth").

Bread and pasta are my biggest weaknesses!

I've never been able to adjust to American portion sizes though, lol. In most restaurants one meal can usually feed 2 or 3 people!

I'm sorry Tinuviel, I didn't even read your post. I only answered Tommy because i saw his post in the 'newest posts' section on the forum. Now that I've read your post I do have an answer for you but I don't have time right now. I will post it here later. Just know there is hope..
