Hi Trisha!
I was a juicer for about six months and I became as fat as a pig due to the calorie intake.
Maybee I did it wrong but I learned from it that it's un natural to consume for example three oranges, four carrots, half a pinapple and two bananas in one hit.
Our ancesters were oppertunistic omnivores which means that they would eat whatever was available at the time.
Also the fibre is there to fill us up and tell us when we are full.
Sorry to do the negative on you but I'm only sharing my experiance.
Now I am vegetarian replacing meat with quorn products.
I don't drink milk or any dairy products because of the way Animals are treated.
The next thing to go will be Eggs.
You mentioned that you use the fibre in soups but soup also goes streight through you without leaving you full.
i'm not trisha, but your post troubled and saddened me so much that i wanted to share my experience with you.

i'm sorry you had such a bad experience.
i'd be fat as a pig too if i juiced that much fruit regularly. i've actually lost weight juicing (i supplement my meals, and occasionally juice fast) but i use hardly any fruit, and almost all low sugar veggies. i really don't care for most veggies, so the average juice for me (like today) will be
lemon
ginger
kale
cucumber
celery
cabbage
carrot (3-5)
granny smith apple (2-3)
i'm noting the last two in quantity only because they are the ones with the sugar. i'd say the last two ingredients approximate 1/4 (maybe 1/3) of the recipe. i juice this and drink about 8-12 oz 2-3x per day. as you discovered, all that sugar causes your body to surge with insulin because your sugar levels peak. the only things that counteract a blood sugar surge are fiber, protein or fats.
for the most part i only use granny smith apples as the fruit to juice because they are lower sugar, and they special for a number of reasons, one being they are high in malic acid which have specific health benefits. as i indicated, i also use carrots in a restricted amount because they also have a fair amount of sugar. beets also fall into this higher sugar category.
if you're in great health and feel good, then perhaps juicing may not have as many benefits as they do for me. i have an auto-immune disorder at this time, as well as recovering from a moderate sports related injury and i have a lot of inflammation in my body. green juices have helped restore some of my vitality and energy lost due to the previous situations.
you mentioned the value of eating the items you juice--if you eat all that fruit, that's still a lot. i'd gain weight eating that much sugar, not to mention how hungry that would make me. the difference between eating veggies and fruits, vs. juicing them is that you are able to break open the cell walls, and create a medium in which you are much more easily able to assimilate all the nutrition that these highly nutrition dense fruits and veggies contain in a far more efficient way. depending upon your digestive system, and a host of other criteria, you may not absorb a little or a fair amount of that nutrition. juicing allows you to gain the majority of those nutrients. raw veggie nutrition not only has all the vitamins and minerals we know about, but a host of enzymes, caratenoids, and other beneficial plant chemicals, some of which we are only beginning to understand.
if you want to try juicing without all the concerns about weight gain, i would encourage you to look up many of the great green juice (low sugar) recipes that are out there, including the link that was posted in this thread.
by the way, i don't do bovine dairy either. i do consume a small amount of goat dairy products. i personally consume eggs for their health value, fish, and a lot of whey protein, as i eat very little meat products.
soups are great too! i'm a soup fanatic. i am glad you shared your experience. this is mine.
if you need any help, please feel free to message me.
take care, monica
