real food. that helps a lot.

to budget, do not just budget as if the cost of food(and distilled water(a requirement, not optional))
was the deciding factor.
i.e. budget in the cost of 'sick-industry' care (medical costs of any and all kinds),
and find out how much less you can (usually/potentially/often) spend on man-made things
if you spend more(time, or money, or receiving from Him) on Yahweh's Created Foods. It really really really makes a difference. (ie. as it is written "a curse causeless shall not come") .

Raw foods.
Veggies. Sweet potatoes. Eggs. (most bio-available protein to the human body) Brown rice cooked in broth.
Fruits.
Moneysavingmom website had an article on how you can buy organic food on a budget its doable but you have to be prepared to do the hardwork ie they suggested freezing leftovers . moneysaving mom is christian too.

A good protein mix is good. Some cater for women. Like Soy Protein? This may offset the preservative poisoning one gets in the powdered cheese in a box of macaroni & cheese. Costco has bulk packages of macaroni & cheese. I ran out, but do not want to deal with the Christmas shopping crowd at Costco this past week. So fasting is helping my budget now. ;)

If getting a fair amount of moderate to tough fun exercise. One of a few hrs at least once per week. My mostly diet of pancakes, spaghetti, and double egg sandwiches worked as good cheap fuel food for 29 years.

Buy a dirt bike. then ride with me up to where my avatar pic was taken. that will be the workout of your lifetime. lol

JL's been messing with us. :)

(if i were a betting man, i'd wager she loves Kraft mac and cheese, too.)
Truth be told not a fan of Kraft boxed mac and cheese...I don't buy it. This thread was just a dare for some points I confess - I have been bad...but it was fun and I laughed a lot...Sorry if I misled anyone that was not my intent I was just going for points on the dare.

Going on a Alaska cruise? Catching some 200lb barn door halibut would be some good eaten.

JesusLives. You like dares? I dare you to eat Hebrew hotdogs and Macaroni & Cheese in one meal. My cast iron stomach even feels that meal. I will give you 5 points for trying that meal together . ;)

Kraft? You can't be serious, surely. Make it from scratch using real cheese (mozzarella's nice), and add chopped onion - the amount is up to you - in the final stage (when you mix the sauce with the macaroni) then serve with a salad. Extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar make a good dressing. Easy peasy. Job done.

It wouldn't let me tone my message down. This is what I'd have edited it to if it had:

Kraft? Why not make it from scratch using real cheese (mozzarella's nice), and add chopped onion - the amount is up to you - in the final stage (when you mix the sauce with the macaroni) then serve with a salad? Extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar make a good dressing. Easy peasy. Job done.

PS. We're on a budget too. What might seem to be not the cheapest ingredients really are affordable when you consider how little you use of them and (consequently) how long they last.

Why does it have to be with macaroni and cheese?

Basic stuff:

- Wholegrain bread for breakfast!

Dinner:
- Rice (normally fairly cheap, at least here)
and / or vegetables
- Beans / Peas / Lentils (should be cheap I think?) Just add spice and it goes yummy
- Potato (Potato / sweet potato + rutabega or similar makes a yummy mash)
- Carrots
- If meat is wanted: Actual meat, not preprocessed stuff , if you want it to be healthy
- Spice! (Herbs, pepper, some salt and whatever else you like)

If you cut the meat and vegetables info pieces (sometimes might want to fry meat in pan first)
and add it all in something that can go into the oven, you can just leave it there to cook and wont have to keep stirring,
just use oil to keep it from sticking

I liked the dare thread it was fun, wondered if I would get banned from it though...I am not a mac N cheese lover so much more of a spaghetti person. But on your dare you get to Florida and Jerry and I will take you on in that dare. But I can cook a much better meal than that and you would give me more than 5 points too.

The Alaskan cruise I have been planning for my 60th Birthday celebrating that I make it Lord willing to that age as my mom passed away at 42 and brother died at 39, dad died at 56 so I figured I needed to celebrate hitting 60 and that is how I choose to do it as my bucket list was to see all 50 states and I have 12 to go. Wanting Jerry to go with me on it next summer. I just added Arizona while out in Las Vegas getting married as we went and drove over the Hoover Dam and one part of it is in Arizona.

Well so much for Kraft mac n cheese....I like some of the other suggested foods much better.

Blond Here......Trying to eat healthier on a budget could someone please help me figure out how to

Doctor up a Box of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese?

Should I add a cheap vegetable or something? Would that help make it better?

I like to add a leftover meat, such as steak or roast (cut into small pieces). Then add some jalapeno peppers and black pepper. It tastes great and has a little extra nutrition. Note: the dairy really cuts the heat in the peppers, so if you want it hot you have to add more peppers than you normally would to a dish.

We didnt know abt yogurt as kids, only fresh milk. But when i started eating it in my 30s or 40s already (cant remember), i knew it was something good and better than ice cream or milk. Anyway, esp. homemade. i was just looking at an indian recipe, wc they explain is so simple for them even if u do not have a thermometer.
Why its late, and i dont really sit on the pc late at night when i can help it.

here it's 9:20 am in the morning, the day is already started and not close to noooon, yet....

homemade yogurt is great yum yum. (haven't made in decades, but it is so much better than storebought.....)

hope to start again, and a few other things (like homemade bread).

point of order: look up soy the terrible bean.
(it has caused more illness in the world.... 1 out of 4 people sick from it..... i.e. soyprtein has very nasty effects on the body)

(yes, it is sold as a 'health food' , at health food stores, and as baby formula, prescribed by idots..... it is very bad )

Some churches do yearly Alaskan cruises. Not sure if they are discounted though.
So much focus on the Kraft Mac & cheese? Thats because the powdered cheese in it is scary stuff. lol
Got to love a 8 min carb meal though. Thats practically worth poisoning myself for ;)
It would not be a dare if we were talking good food.

I have not been to Maine, Alaska, or Hawaii. Alaska might be worth buying a bucket for. So I could start my one item bucket list.

I spent 8 years living in the state of Maine and I can't recommend it. Half of the state survives on mac & cheese, usually a store brand. L L Bean clothing is essential to avoid freezing to death.

We got the protein matter taken care of but still need something with vegetative properties.
