Some Christians says that there are no more apostles today. Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers. Some Christians believe that the others are still around, but not the apostles.

Yes there are still apostles but the self proclaiming ones hehehehe

To be a real apostle

you should have met Jesus in person and even dined with him once.

I know one who is a real Apostle. He has definitely been sent by God. He lives by faith.

For sure there are those persons who are self identified apostles. However, they are not actually Apostles.

In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus used "apostle" to refer to messengers sent by God to preach to Israel:

Because of this, God in his wisdom said, "I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute." (Luke 11:49, NIV)
However, the primary definition applies to a singular group of men who held a supreme role in the early church. The apostles were Jesus Christ's 12 closest disciples, chosen by him early in his ministry to spread the gospel after his death and resurrection. In the Bible, they are called Jesus' disciples until the Lord's ascension into heaven. Thereafter, they are referred to as apostles.

I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother.

Gal:1:19 I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother. , Acts 14:14 , But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting. Roman 16:7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews who have been in prison with me. They are outstanding among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was.

Does Paul's reference supersede that of the Christ?

Apostles ad prophets are no longer around because we have a complete Bible and there are only TWELVE APOSTLES OF THE LAMB (Judas excluded and Paul included).

And the wall of the city [New Jerusalem] had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. (Rev 21:14).

Everything ceased; there are no Apostles/Prophets/Faith healers/ Tongue speakers/ Miracle workers/preachers. These positions were appointed and appointment was something dramatic and physical- some even refused and God wrestled them to submission. Appointment is not theology degree or a dream or a feeling (Today's case).

All ceased because now the Holy spirit operates within individuals in fulfillment of:

Jer 31:
31“The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
32It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
though I was a husband tod them,e
declares the Lord.
33“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
34No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,

from the least of them to the greatest,”

Responding to Gal 1:19 with Gal 1:18....
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.
Paul definitely met more than one apostle so the context of your using that scripture is wrong.(And verifying that Paul had two witnesses who accepted him as an apostle just pointing out how your first scripture you seem to be indicating that Paul only met James which isn't accurate)

We need to define what we mean by the term:

a) in a general meaning, somebody who is sent or feel to be sent to spread the word
- there are many such people today, we call them preachers or missionaries

b) in a special meaning, people sent personally by Christ, with special authority and special signs, to give us doctrines about Christianity
- I think that they are not here today

Well this all depends on one's "definition" of "apostles" for as far as "Apostles" meaning "original 12 of the disciples"(matthias chosen by lots in place of judas iscariot) one who was chosen by Jesus as a chosen vassal there were but 12 with the "exception" of Paul because unlike the rest he was chosen before hand as an apostle/chosen vassal and did not "follow him" as a disciple only through the revelation of Jesus and stopping him from slaying more people did Saul come to know Jesus in any "good wise".
The other definition is regarding "foreign missions" which refers to anyone "sent" by the 13 Apostles on a "mission" there in lies the "difference" you can't put the 13 chosen apostles/disciples under the same classification or respect as the "many" "mission apostles".

Thanks this saves me from having to clarify in my post because basically you said what I was about to say.

SCRIPTURE DOES NOT CONTRADICT ITSELF.

12 FOUNDATIONS FOR 12 APOSTLES.

12 THRONES FOR 12 APOSTLES.

12 TRIBES FOR 12 APOSTLES.

You are simply failing to read those Scripture properly.
