In the time of the apostles they would have called it synagogue.
The church was first brought to light in the 16th century by Catholics and king james.
Jesus called his gathering Eclesia.
The church is a building we are a temple.
The Catholics built the greatest empire in the world. Killing those who disagreed. And stealing untold billions of dollars from those who wanted to know god.
Then there are the multitude of denominations with no fellowship with each other.
Inside. Of each group there is the hierarchy.
Fellowship amongst saints happen at the grass roots level. I e boots on the ground.
To summarize church is not of God, for he wanted a relationship with us and each other.
That is surely lacking in most church.
Hope your happy I'm back

King James was adamant the Greek word ‘ekklesia’, which means assembly, was to be translated ‘church’. Assembly would be more apt in my opinion.

Words are just sounds or letter. The meaning is what is important.

The idea of assemblies as was set out by the apostles is not what we have today and it wasn't meant for today. The apostles were mandated to spread the gospel to all nations and tribes before the end times come and assemblies in different nations and tribes would help them achieve that. When that mandate was achieved, then all those things should have ceased- a continuation of these things in the end times is misleading and satan has found an avenue to spread false gospel through the shepherds of these so called churches.

Actually it means gathering. Hence the verse where 2 or more are gathered I will be there
In a gathering all talk, and are edified by the body. That is fellowship, sorely lacking in the church

There are plenty of principles in the New Testament for how the "assembly" is to function and conduct itself.

We don't need to resort to conjecture or opinion.
A lot of things are pretty well spelled out for us.

People sometimes ask my "opinion" on various spiritual topics.
I often reply, "That's all spelled out in scripture; my opinion isn't required."

Regarding the use of church buildings:

If your Christian friends and leaders prefer to gather in an open field, that's perfectly fine.

Most of us prefer a building so we can stay out of the rain.

Appointment- did God ever appoint any of these pastors that you see around or what they teach is their own version of understanding?

Repeating the words of our Savior should suffice for any who believe Him. Thank you forr these wise words and God bless you.

A study of the New Testament explains how the congregation can both identify and set apart it's leaders for service.

I think a study of the New Testament gives pretty clear principles for all basic functions within the assembly.

Simple to me as this...we are called to assemble, the body of Christ, to admonish, encourage, and to serve one another. How can we do those things if we are not around one another together? The New Testament, especially Matthew and Acts teaches us how to love and serve, as well as give us tools to become fishermen of people.

We know that we are told to assemble together, and what word is used for that assembly does not matter. What matters is the assembling to worship God.

However!!! We need to look at our assembly and compare it with what scripture tells us it should be. There has been terrible corruption in what we call church. In the wars between Rome and Christians the Jews were killed off. The Jews had been the leaders of our church and they knew scripture, they understood that God the Father and Christ the Son were one. The Christian Jews and the ones who denied Christ as Messiah worshiped together peacefully. They didn't even consider Christianity as a new religion, separated from God the Father. Gentiles changed everything. They had training as idol worshipers but no training in scripture. They hated Jews: those people who had strange customs.

Gentiles brought in ideas opposed to God's ways. Constantine made these ideas law. We are STILL more influenced by these ideas than we are by God, they are part of our life now. Even our week days are named after false Gods.

Yes, we're happy you're back, but unhappy about your maverick ideas regarding churches.

To suggest that ekklesia (ἐκκλησίᾳ) does not mean church is PURE RUBBISH.

1 CORINTHIANS 1:2

King James Bible
Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours

Every NT church was an ekklesia or church or assembly or gathering of saints. At the same time every blood-bought child of God is a member of the Church, the Body, Bride, and Building of Christ. And of course every child of God has a relationship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Good information and wisdom for all to understand and learn.

It seems many denominations calling themselves Christian today are all for killing their enemies. It is obviated and witnessed by the support of killing anyone and all who disagree with certain governments.

I ask, did Jesus lie when He taught us to love our enemy and to turn the other cheek? I do not think so. This teaching has fallen by the wayside with so many other teachings from our Lord.....

Only pagans have gods who need to be defended by their followers. Our Father needs no children to kill the flesh of others in order to assure His will being done.....

Read the first 4 chapters of Revelations, where Jesus addresses...who?

John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne,
Revelation 1:4 NASB
To the seven churches in Asia.

Huh, wonder why Jesus didn't admonish them to stop being churches?
