If one should not turn to mediums (Leviticus 19:31) and Satan can masquerade as angels (2 Corinthians 11:14-15) then how does one draw the distinction between people who see or hear angels or other spirits? Wouldn't that change some stories from the bible being that any angel or spirit could be Satan? Let's say someone experienced seeing something like that, how would they tell if what they're seeing is holy or unholy?

Are you talking about seeing them, Or listening and taking information from them?

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
1 JOHN 4:1‭-‬6 NASB

An example of this is how JWs and Mormons all deny some important fact of Jesus. That he isn't Devine or that he didn't come in the flesh, but was a mirage of sorts, or that he didn't actually die and rise again.
Spirits from God will testify that Jesus is not only Lord but God manifest in the flesh, dwelt among us, died as the sacrifice for sin, and was resurrected fully, bodily for the world to see. That we may be resurrected with him in eternity and in his glory.

Welcome to CC, Kafziel,

The difference between people who see/hear spirit angels in the Bible and "mediums" as you call them, is the intent of the seeker. In the first case, people are faithfully following God and seeking His input on a situation (or, He initiates the contact). In the second case, people are seeking out spiritual entities to get information not available in the natural, and these entities are not God.

Isaiah 8 speaks to this situation.

Of course, the spiritual enemies of Christ (demons, unclean spirits, the devil, etc.) will seek to deceive God's people. That's why God gives the gift of discernment of spirits (1 Corinthians 12; 1 John 4) and tells us to be cautious (1 Peter 5).

If you are truly born again, saved, bought and sold unto Yeshua and have received the Holy Spirit. Then anyone, anything, whatever it may be, when it gets close to you, you will immediately know if it is good or not. You might not pinpoint the hesitation and feeling right away, but you will understand you do not feel generally good about this person, situation, plan. God will always make us understand that something is not right, when we are in the company of our adversaries.

The OP poses an interesting question that has not been satisfactorily addressed here. I'd change the question to ask: "How did Abraham know that God was asking him to sacrifice Isaac? Why didn't Abraham just assume that God could not be the source for such a cruel request. More broadly, how did Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, etc. know that God was speaking to them?

Testing the spirits...we dont seek them out, all the angels that appeared to anyone in the Bible initiated contact.

A medium is someone who tries to go outside of God to contact spirits. They iniate contact..and often, they dont even know who they are talking to, some do these rituals and divination hoping to talk to anyone! Why because satan finds it easy to deceive people when they do that, I mean check out the whole sorry tale of mormonism, which involved Jospeh smith and some 'seeing stones' and him being convinced he got this whole new revealtion from an angel called moroni, claiming Jesus somehow visited america, polygamy was fine, the entire bible was wrong so it needed a new translation, salt lake city was the new jeruslalem, and what not.

Theres mediums in the Bible and while people tried to use them for evil purposes, God turned it around for good.
Eg witch of endor, saul tried to get her to call up samuel who was dead. He ddnt like being woken up and said Saul was not going to be king much longer cos of his disobedience.
Also Balaam. He was a diviner, and Barak called him to curse israel cos he thought that he could somehow contact the spirits to do so, but Balaam was actually in contact with God himself and couldnt curse Israel even though he tried, and wa tempted or bribed to do so... he ended up blessing Israel instead.

have you seen something you are not sure of?

you state you are unsure of your status and then say 'witnessed spirit'

just going by what you said about yourself and wondering if there is a connection

Just as God hardened the heart of pharaoh, he opened the heart of the the fathers.

The only thing I can possibly add is, if something is from God, it will keep coming up again and again and will not change.

Believing something internally is only something that each person can only know.....Something strikes that internal chord and theater only they feel and know.

IN Scripture angels were sent to men by God, and generally appeared to men as men AND SPOKE ABOUT GOD.

However mediums SUMMON spirits through rituals and incantations, and the spirits pretend to be dead loved ones. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Mediums get their power from the demonic. . It is real even today. G-d tells us to have nothing to do with them... Their "power" is demonic.

The Scripture tells us Saul sought after a medium... Do you think the Scripture tells us the truth in one place and covers it up in others?

Is there a"cover up" I the Word of G-d for Satan?

mediums communicate with 'darkness' -
those 'called' of God do not'...
1COR. 10:21.
You cannot drink the cup of The Lord, and the cup of devils: you cannot be partakers of The Lord's table,
and of the table of devils.

if one is neither hot or cold', He will vomit you
out of His mouth...

You feel the energy. An angel has very high energy and so you experience emotions you never have before, but summed up love. On the other hand, a demon is a trickster so you'll see signs of it being incorrect. The energy is off, eyes are off, etc. It may be beautiful even, but you know something is not right.

You can test them as well. Demons only speak in lies. So if they tell you the future correctly they are a part of God.

I believe God gives all of us discernment.
I dont think so, otherwise i could not understand that believers have no problem to believe f.e. Sarah Young and others. Ore have no problem to accept the RCC doctrine
