this is when I wish we still had the rep system, this post deserves a rep. Amen brother.

And a very simple reason (see scripture...things like "watch and pray" etc. etc.) why there is no such thing as once saved always saved as general evangelicals believe, is that you have not lived tomorrow.

Um, Then eternal does nto mean eternal?

If eternal life is not really eternal life (which is what your in reality saying) then no one has any hope. Because God lied.

There are two judgments. Believers are judged on whether they will receive or lose rewards. The other is for the lost, and we know how that turns out.

You do have to earn your salvation, because the one that endures to the end will have earned the right to eat from the tree of life.,and that requires working out your salvation.

We don't earn salvation. There is zero merit or wage owed us within the concept of salvation. It is 100% grace. I have found out that the understanding of just one simple verse in scripture believed kills the errors of once saved always saved, that sin doesn't matter any more if "I'm saved", etc. That verse is "the wages of sin is death". First understand that the word death in that verse means eternal death or the second death. Consider it this way in your mind: "the wages of sin is ________________". Put anything in that blank except death and you do not understand the gospel of Jesus Christ. There is no such thing as an indulgence for future sin. look up Romans 3:25 as a start.

Read your verse: Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who ARE in Christ Jesus,

Yeah?

Whoever is saved BY Christ at IN CHRIST.

Whoever is tryign to be saved by works is in self (not in christ)

ETERNAL life is still ETERNAL LIFE. No one ever called it CONDIITIONAL. For eternal sec urity in christ be false as your saying, we have conditional life not eternal.

Um No, Its not even close, Salvation is not like losing an arm.

If I can lose salvation, It means I must work to maintain my salvation, Thus salvation becomes a reward. And is not a gift. Paul mentions this when he calls the galations FOOLS for thinkinfg they are saved by the spirit, but must PERFECT that salvation in the flesh.

If Salvation is not of works, No amount of work I do or do not do could ever take that salvation away from me.

Doesn't faith make you a believer? Doesn't faith come by hearing?

What about those that never "hear" the gospel? Their opportunity to believe is forfeited by default since there is an inherent error on how people are reached by the "truth" in the gospel. Faith can only come by hearing the gospel and the only mediums to deliver it are by mouth or text.

This is a major flaw in Christianity since it voids a personal revelation of the gospel since it is tied to a method of delivery that cannot be achieved unless a third part source is physically involved.

If anyone has a "revelation of God" and the gospel is not involved in some way, they are deemed heretics or lunatics.

This means that God only is accessible through faith, which comes from education on the Canonical text. There is no other way to know about Christianity unless you have a bible or a preacher.

The other problem involves whether the bible is being read "correctly" or the preacher is indeed holy spirit filled.

Go figure...

All are given a measure of faith, else the Spirit would have nothing to work with... there will be many in heaven who never heard of Jesus, but they listened to the leading of the Spirit. In heaven, there will be those that say to Jesus "what are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends". Zech 13:6. They are in heaven because had the gospel come to them as it has come to us, their response would have been "yes Lord" and they would have followed on and been of those that "keep the commandments of God and the faith OF Jesus".

I agree with Paul. Where your maybe going astray is forgetting that what Jesus did on the cross he did freely (gifted) to every human being that has ever existed, is existing, and will ever exist. That's justification and it is applicable in actuality to all. Justification by faith is another matter...it is the free will choice of yes lord. Free will does not go away when we say yes Lord. One can fall away, repudiate the gift, etc. You really have to believe all what scripture says and have faith and trust in what God has said and what he can do. Carefully read Romans 12: 1 & 2. Romans 8:1 & 2; Ephesians 4:13; 1John 4:17 and dozens and dozens more. Once the truths of the plain language of these verses is accepted, OSAS will go away and your relationship with Jesus will be relationship centered not getting to heaven in sin centered.

uh, so Where is that in the Bible?
Lol. Its common sense

If you recieve a gift, You can not earn the gift. If you can lose the gift because you did nto do what was required to keep the gift. Then it was never a gift to begin with.

And again, Paul in galations says we are foolish if we think we are saved in the spirit, but myst perfect that salvation in the flesh.

Um, He paid the price for all men, But not all men are justified

He demands we freely recieve that gift in faith. He will not force it on us.

If we have true faith, And God always fulfills what he says he will do. How could we ever lose that faith?

Well as John said, there is only 1 way, We never had true saving faith to begin with (they were never of us, for if they were of us, they never would have departed”

Wrong answer! You are the one questioning God.
A born again Christian can never lose their salvation. Why does that make you mad?
That is true that a born again Christian is saved, period, while born again. But the bible is replete with warnings re losing salvation. The bible is clear that one can repudiate their born again status. How does that happen? Sin. An umbrella term for the GOSPEL (the gospel that Jesus sent the disciples out to preach BEFORE the cross) was STOP SINNING. The very real problem in much of Christianity is the desire to continue in sin (read the 10 commandments once in a while-they are the transcript of the character of God.....they are the definition of love) and be saved. Jesus came to take away sin, not save in sin. Read 1 John and believe it.

How do most people define "Easy Believism?" Merely believe "mental assent" that Jesus exists and presto, you are saved, even though you continue to live like the devil, or something like that?

What about Lordship Salvation? I've heard advocates of that doctrine say that it's not enough to believe in Jesus (John 3:15,16,18), but one must "completely" surrender to His Lordship in order to be saved. Then of course, "completely" surrender to His Lordship ranges anywhere from reaching full maturity in Christ to sinless perfection.

What about Hard Believism? That salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works is not hard to understand. It's just hard to ACCEPT. I've heard certain anti-OSASers say that continuing to believe/remain in the faith is an extremely difficult burden that most Christians will surely fail to do and the Lord will simply allow them to slip through His hands.

Wow. It is so obvious that so few understand the concept of "believe". Get your Strong's, look up believe, belief, etc. and read every verse. Believing God, the bible, means the same as obedience. Man shall not live (be saved) by bread alone, but by EVERY word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Everything. Every one of God's 10 commandments, etc. Believing God means faith, it means knowing you will live Gods way no matter what because Christ is within...It means knowing that Gods mind is to be in you. And then as God says: LET this mind be in you which is in Christ Jesus. It means knowing God is more powerful than Satan. It means knowing that in Christ there need not be one sin. Nothing about believing according to the bible is merely mental ascent. Abraham believed God and it was accounted unto him for righteousness. Why? because his faith was the type of faith that was "yes lord" to every word of God and God knew that so Abraham was accounted righteous. This faith/belief has zero to do with any concept of self works, human merit, etc. It has to do with love, a heart appreciation for what Jesus did for humanity-the cross, and that always results in loving obedience. If you love me, keep my commandments. The gospel is given to be understood. And it is easy to understand, once it is acknowledged that there is no place for continued sinning in the gospel.

The bible lists 3 reasons I remember off hand that Jesus came to this earth. I will list them and ask that you contemplate how sin (transgression of the law) relates to them and how a relationship with Jesus relates to them. Jesus came to:
1) show the Father
2) Save his people FROM their sins (not in them)
3) Destroy the works of the devil

Hi BibletruthSOP, considering that no one was able to do that (as the people of Israel proved over and over and over again in the OT), how can the command to STOP SINNING be the Good News? What is “good” about it if no one can do it?

Thanks!
