What brings/brought you here?

I've really enjoyed getting to know all of you through your posts in the threads. It's amazing how much you can learn about someone through their posts.

Some of you have been here for years and others are new. What was it that initially lead you here? Maybe it was something simple, maybe it was circumstances in life.

Anyone care to share?

I joined shortly after my late second wife died prematurely. My life was falling apart and I was depressed. I came for comfort, support, and understanding. I received all three and then some. This site has been a tremendous blessing to me and I love this site.

Thank you for asking. I registered here back in 2014, but i didn't really start using this until about 2 years ago. I was in a down season, feeling extra lonely and sad, to be honest. I reached out in the chat platform and found it to be so soothing. I really needed the interaction and kindness, especially in the evening hours. After that, i probably went in there too much. Those people, though many were kind, welcoming, witty, and hospitable, what they helped me with the most was pointing me back to focusing on God. All the biblical discussions had me getting more and more into the word. I am so grateful. You are right, many have been here for a longggg time, and many have established great familial bonds.

I love to write and read, always have so the forum platform provides different kind of fellowship. I have not been in the chat room lately, mostly because I think I was in there wayyyy too much. It is a great place to be, but I was there lots and lots. I do miss it a little to be honest. I may pop in from time to time. I don't know. Time will tell. Anyway, how about you? What brought/brings you here?

I don't remember exactly how I found this site, but I do remember having a theological question that I wanted to ask. And more than one answer can sometimes be a good thing.

So I made my account and asked my question, getting quite a few responses if I remember correctly. Then I decided to stick around and the site began to grow on me....to the point where I started to come here everyday. But that's not a bad thing, right?

So yeah, I'm glad I found this place.

I actually came to this site probably in 2010/2011. I was in my senior year of college and was really struggling with some things and feeling far from God. I joined this site in hopes to bring the Lord back into my life and get some advice. I was mainly using the chat version. The Lord really blessed me with some great friendships through that. I was reminded of the Lord's forgiveness and love. That helped me greatly. I then visited the site off and on until last September when I felt the Lord wanted me to take a break.

I've come back this time, not for the same reasons, but because I feel the Lord wants me to. Not sure exactly why, but I have enjoyed it greatly and I appreciate the fellowship with so many people across the country and world.

We are blessed!

i came here in 13' almost 2 years after my dad died. I was inquiring of his spiritual "whereabouts" and posed the question in BDF with particulars. After a good deal of roundabout discussion I found out he was in several different places.

In a way i considered that comforting. I found and continue to find pieces of him all over.

Yup, that's my only motivation. I like to hear (or in this case read) what people have to say, and sometimes I add something to the conversation, if what I have to add seems relevant... or at least amusing.

You may notice I don't start many threads. I'm better at talking about topics other people have started than starting my own topics.

I came to talk to like-minded people. Sometimes one can be surrounded by people and have no one to talk to or feel they have no one for fear of not living up to expectations and others judgement.
I come back because I have made friends with a few people and chat regularly with them on here. I also enjoy reading others perspectives on CC with various topics and the poetry forum

So, we all know our physical body stays on Earth when we die - we have funerals- bury the body or cremate the body and scatter the ashes - yet, in any scenario- our body remains on Earth.

**sighs** how quickly a thread degrades into answering a question that was not asked..........................

To answer the OP, I joined here in December of 2010 just prior to the Great CC Crash of 2011 where several months worth of posts (and new profiles) were lost thus my account showing my join date in Jan 2011 just after the site came back on line. At the time (thanks to the economy tanking) I had been out of work for a couple of months and was in a really bad spot emotionally as a result.
At that time all of my time on site was spent in the chat rooms whereas now I almost never log into chat.

I have been privileged to serve on site staff since initially as a chatroom Moderator and later as an Administrator since June of 2011.

I actually could of met alot of you years ago if I continued with an old account I had. I completely forgot I had it until the other day when my email went all weird and I had to sort through it and came across CC emails from 2013! I didn't actually chat to anyone and obviously got too busy to even remember to come on, had I of made friends I would of remembered. Ah well, must be reason I'm here now instead of back then.

I was wanting to reconnect with faith and get to know some fellow Christians in a safer way. Connecting with other singles was also something I wanted to do since it can difficult to do that at church. It can be Sicily to make friends at church joining as an older single guy, especially being as shy as I am.

I was feeling a great loss after losing my mom very unexpectedly. Shortly after a relationship that I had thought would lead to marriage. I felt pretty empty, confused and alone. I needed to be amongst others who stood on faith and believed that God has us in his loving care even when we feel so lost. You all have been wonderful spiritual therapy.
