Hi, brother SG!
Paul said:
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
Much to my regret, I am not able to agree completely with you.
You once said that you don't need a list of mitzvot to be kept because you are guided by the Holy Spirit. But this is what Christianity is all about: Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. So, if you are guided by the Spirit you don't need a list of effective ordinances and don't need to teach anyone to keep the Law of Moses. The Law was made for the Hebrews and has already fulfilled its purpose. We are now under the Dispensation of Grace.
Greetings Marcelo,
Yes, you would have a valid point, but remember where the list is written first then look where it was written again. Upon my heart.
So too one of the more forceful inspirations by the Holy Spirit is to Read, Read, Read, Meditate, Meditate, Meditate on the Scriptures which He, The Holy Spirit inspired to begin with. It all makes up the dynamic that Joshua 1:7-8 makes clear;
Jos 1:7-8 NIV Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. (8) Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
A mans heart, mind and soul make up the books/list that guide our Faith or "Good Works". Carefully if you will, savor the following thoughts:
Rom 2:12-15 NIV All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. (13) For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. (14) (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, (15) since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.)
Do these hearts operate separate apart from the Torah? Who gave the Torah? Yahshua or YHWH or The Spirit of God! They are all in unity! So would the Holy Spirit ever utter anything contrary to he Father or Yahshua? Never! You may rearrange those entities in any order you wish and the answer is always Never! Were the words of the Torah given by inspiration of God, Yahshua, The Holy Spirit? Yes. So, do you think the Gentiles above were discouraged from studying and meditating on any part of the Written Word of God, or Yahshua? No. I know Paul would never have done anything but "encourage" study and meditation of the Torah! ;
2Ti 3:16-17 NIV All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, (17) so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
My list is a lifetime of reading and meditating and even today I see new dimensions to the meanings of words as my walk is enhanced through obedience/fellowship with Yahshua and The Heavenly Father. It is all roses? No, many humbling encounters with matters that I am brought into understanding on. But even these humbling moments, when embraced are merely elimination of barriers between me and Yahshua, The Heavenly Father and His Holy Spirit!
