Should the government take away my right to bear arms so only the "bad guys" have guns?

I fully concur. If I was on the jury of the man on trial for offing some stud humping his wife in his own home and bed I would vote not guilty. As for the thug struggling to make ends meet getting shot in the process of breaking into an occupied dwelling, in Florida there is the Stand Your Ground law. You could shoot this thug that is threatening you and your family no questions asked.

I have my eyes on Florida. One of my brothers lives in Palm Bay. I may be joining him in a few short years, God willing.

It's a well known fact that criminals get rich on prohibited protects a ban on guns will give gangs and smugglers a monopoly on guns. It's a stupid idea. Guns are illegal for the general public in Mexico and look a their murder and kidnapping rates. Banning guns is a very bad idea in the USA.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I'd much rather be shot by a gun than butchered with a machete.

- the rise of Stalin
- the rise of Nazi Germany
- the Mao Zedong experience
- Cambodian killing fields...
Very bad things tend to arise when goverments take weapons from their people.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

like most scriptures or things written you read it all wrong i did not say it like that, funny most wars and corruption are created by misconception of narrow mindedness, I stated" or the thug struggling to make ends meet opens fire on someone trying to break into his home. I did not ask the question, I answered it in a manner it was relatable to all. I'm no thug either, things are different over here in little New Zealand but untill recent times with the massacre in Christchurch we could not comprehend the evilness of such acts, it was not till directly after our gun laws changed to prevent such things happening easier after all New Zealand was targeted only because the simple fact that type of artillery was legal to purchase here. I understand a man is man, but the old ways an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth will never change nothing, therefore the human race will never change.
Sorry my feelings on this matter are not of yours, an without a doubt possibly if i was living in your country my opinion would be different.
My final word my fellow friends guns don't kill people, people kill people and for yoursake i hope none of yous are put in a position to have to pull the trigger and end ones life no matter the situations. I'm very primitive when it comes to American law, I do understand why some laws are in place in your country, stand your ground law it just seems lots of your laws have so much room for corruption.

I apologize for my tone but you seemed to malign lawful gun owners as thugs rather than putting the onus on actual thugs.

That's probably true for any law regardless of the country.

While I believe in the Second Amendment about the right of citizens to bear arms I personally don't own a gun.

About that hypothetical situation where the husband goes home to find his wife in bed with another man, I really don't think that it would appropriate for the husband to shoot the man to death but I can understand his reasons for perhaps doing so. Legally, even in Florida with the Stand Your Ground law, that would probably be classified as second degree murder. I'm a novice in regards to American law too and I have been a citizen my entire life.
