Without God, a man CANNOT love only ONE woman and vice versa.

There has to be love for God first then, love for a wife or love for a husband.

It is a 3-way covenant, NOT a two way covenant.... meaning the two shall be ONE DWELLING place for God’s Presence and ALL the children become born in Zion...... God’s dwelling place.......(y)

Well I honestly think when the men had multiple wives, I'm sure they had favorites. They may have had a sort of mutual, care taking kind of love for them, but it's hard not to have favorites. Which they obviously did.

Can a man love multiple women now adays? Ehhh.....I personally don't think so. Same thing. They may say they love two people at the same time, but there will be one that takes precedent. Even if they don't want that to happen.

As far as like say having a spouse and then having another, say after a divorce or one pass, I think it is absolutely possible. If not plausible.

Well, I do believe that as believers we are to "love one another," however, I'm talking about in a marriage between a man and a woman, can a man intimately love ONLY his wife (body, soul and spirit) and not other women?
Most Asians have 1 wife or husband because of their cultural values.

Is it possible that a woman can love only one man?
It is within our OWN thinking to believe that either a man or woman has the ability to only love 1.

What happens when we fathom what God believes is possible?

Is it possible that a man can ONLY LOVE ONE woman?

God created ONE WOMAN for Adam, yet the kings of Israel had so many wives.

Probably need some kind of a definition of "love" so, I'm asking about a man loving a woman with all his body, soul and spirit.

Feel free to define love in the way you understand it.

I look forward to reading your posts!
I think you need a better definition of love. That sounds more like the love due to God. The love we are to have for others is to love your neighbor as you love yourself.

A man is to love his wife as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her. That is a tall order, but probably still less than our duty to God.

Can a man be faithful to his wife and not have sexual relations with another woman? Yes, that is very possible? Can he not 'fall in love' with another woman besides his wife? I would definitely say that it is very possible for a man to do that? Can a man not look with lust on other women after he marries? i would say that is possible, also.

But Christian men should love other women besides their wives in the 'love thy neighbor' sort of way.

A Christian man should love ALL women, just like Jesus did. We must let Him teach us what the true meaning of love is.

Hello @presidente - here's the definition I gave later in the thread.......

I've been pondering what God's design was for Adam and Eve, a husband and a wife............. becoming one in body, soul and spirit............

To love in Body:
- Love what I see (physically attractive to each other)
- Love what I hear (the sound of their voice, their breathing, their laughter)
- Love what I taste (kisses are sweet)
- Love what I smell (natural body scent or cologne/perfume that is stimulating and comforting)
- Love what I touch (enjoy each other's affection)
- Love to help each other physically when you need an extra hand

To love in Soul:
- Love how they think (intellectually stimulate and inspire each other to grow and learn new things, conversations that hold each others attention)
- Love how they feel (connect emotionally by laughing together, crying together, angry together, happy together, feel what each other feels emotionally)
- Love their dreams and desires (share dreams, goals, desires, future hopes with each other)

To love in Spirit:
- Love God together (both put God first and each other second, then the kiddos; provoke each other to good works that are pleasing in God's sight; pray with and for each other; read the Bible together; go to church together; etc.)

God's design is beautiful ..........................(y)

I would think that would be the law at creation etched in our stony hearts. One creation. . mankind, male and female.

I have nothing to brag about but I am married twice. 19 years the first and going on 30 years in the pervious.

When I fail I wonder how much fear do I have in failing again? My wife who loves strong sometimes as a flood thinks possibly I don' t have the desire to do the work at times because of lost love. Prayer for strength is in needed for all.

God is Love as the very essence. Not only that he has the ability to work as a attribute . But again what makes Him up. God is light .God is Spirit. God is Love.

God whose name as attribute is "Jealous" He alone owns all things. But His Love or person is not jealous. His love has many attributes needed to make it perfect or complete.

His love alone is perfect we are incomplete in these bodies of death. Love as a work of Christ's faith working in us . First and foremost it is longsuffering as in patient. If not the next step love is kind will have no place. Stepping up because it is kind it does not envy or have a need to boast it then can keep no record of wrong suffered as evil thinking .Mature it can rejoice with truth as it works to bear all things, believe all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

If we start at the top we will never reach the first and hardest work .Love is patient. The first step in self control .The fruit of His Spirit. . not our temporal.

last first. . . first last....a lasting Love. The circle that hems us in

The king of Israel had many wives but did not love them all. Some marriages were merely political and having many wives as a king was just a "king thing", a display of kingly power and status, it was expected of kings at that time.

P.S Of course a man can love only his wife. Everything that God commands is possible, or else it would not be spoken to us as a command.

But, can a man LOVE ONLY ONE WOMAN - his spouse preferably?

A man can have only one wife, yet that doesn't mean he loves her.[/QUOTE

As a Man who has lost his Love, I would say no. A Man cannot love more than one Women. If he claims he does he is a Deceiver and driven by lust. These things I know all too well.

Also, we see how destructive it was for the Kings with multiple Wives. David due to having a large mixed Family suffered horribly from such a lifestyle. God allowed it to happen, but the He price paid for it was tremendous.

If a man does not like his wife's BO or foot stench, does that mean he isn't a loving husband?

To love in Soul:

- Love how they feel (connect emotionally by laughing together, crying together, angry together, happy together, feel what each other feels emotionally)

What if a man's wife developed a dream or goal that wasn't good (materialistic, selfish, etc.) If he doesn't love that, is he not loving her? If she gets depressed and he doesn't love that, then is that unloving?

To love in Spirit:
- Love God together (both put God first and each other second, then the kiddos; provoke each other to good works that are pleasing in God's sight; pray with and for each other; read the Bible together; go to church together; etc.)
This one looks good.

Hello presidente,

Your questions were a lot of fun to reply to! :giggle:

If a man does not like his wife's BO or foot stench, does that mean he isn't a loving husband?
BO and foot stench is washed away in a shower....... natural scent is different and can be stimulating and comforting. Perhaps a man or woman needs to do a little bit more snuggling AFTER a shower, if all they have experienced is BO and foot stench......

What if a man's wife developed a dream or goal that wasn't good (materialistic, selfish, etc.) If he doesn't love that, is he not loving her?
If God is first, it is easy to share each other's dreams and goals and help each other stay in God's Will. Love suffers long and is patient and desires God's Will for each other.

Our flesh does not love, it only knows lusts after it's own will. An abiding deep love is only possible with God.

If she gets depressed and he doesn't love that, then is that unloving?
Do you think God ever grieves........

Genesis 6:6 King James Version (KJV)
6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

Didn't Paul say weep with those that weep and rejoice with those that rejoice?

Do you think a husband can seek to understand his wife's depression and wait on God to show him what to say and do, instead of simply turning away....... and leaving her all alone to climb out of that pit by herself........

Love can pull someone out of depression but, it has to be love according to God's way. His ways are higher than ours, we need Him to show us how to love like He does.

This one looks good.
Yay!! I'm so glad that one looked good!(y)

In those instances when one reads the Bible and there’s polygamy unhappiness and problems can happen. the Bible doesn’t support the practice but it shows it happened because of the fall. the stories of Abraham, Jacob, David and Solomon show the problems that come with having more than one wife. Lamech a descendant of Cain was one of the first mentioning of such things.
