Hi,

I am a single, Christian wanting to enjoy discussions with others who are interested in edifying The Lord through healthy conversations that are productive in The Kingdom. If you fit this category, please let me know.

My first conversation with you would be about your thoughts of Ecclesiastes 4:9-12.

Hi you, welcome to CC. I am so onboard.

Well, some might think this isn't the place of such a discussion, that it might be better suited for the bible discussion forum, but I am in, let's dig in together.

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:9‭-‬12 ESV

I think this points to the gift God has given us as members of the blood bought family. I do not want to speak Christianese, so let me be mindful. Hmmmm, stomps feet @cinder, lol. He supplies us with strength in numbers. Hmmm, another thought is He supplies us with His Holy Spirit, so we are never truly alone.

Why not you help us here... what are your thoughts on these verses? It might help get this dialogue shared going.

I really like the notion of how strong a Christian friendship can be. I know of many people have had personal and spiritual catastrophes, and the comfort of a godly friend has been an amazing balm.

Someone mentioned my name. Anyway other than being used in way too many cheesy Christian pickup line sketches. I would say that that section of Ecclesiastes is talking about the value of friendship, companionship, and positive peer pressure.

Yes, I lived my life as an island inwardly for most of my life. Outwardly, I was the life of the party with full joy. But, inwardly I wrestled with being so alone with my own thoughts and struggles.

Now, I so value others walking along side me as I have grown older that are not just surface dwellers but dig into the depths of souls and signs for truly seeking relationships that count.

I think Jesus lets us know we are never alone.

its also in a spiritual sense talking about the trinity that God is three in one...Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I dont think earthly marriage can compare as often its just two people and they are missing the third, but alot of people think once they have a baby its alright.

I suppose we can be alone if we choose to be on this Earth and in our souls. The Trinity chose to be of One, except to forgive our sins on The Cross. Further, we can choose to have The Lord be the 3rd twine that binds our marriages stronger. As the same, children tend to stress a relationship over time. Although they are a blessing, children are very much in need of our time, resources, and guidance. This is an excellent example of why we as Children of God require the same effort. Thankfully, The Lord will not give up on us. It is we who choose this for ourselves.

This passage also reminds me of 1 can chase a thousand but 2, ten thousand. I think of warfare, fighting temptations, battles against all things ungodly and carnal. We all need accountability, support, exhortation (amongst other things) from other fellow Christians. Even Jesus had a crew! God so brilliantly knew what he was doing when he created fellowship!!!

Yeah I think for the most part .As we grow older we realize that " No man is an Island" thing, and we all live in that " living in quite desperation"thing. I'm slowly getting over that and if you hang around maybe you will too..

Brings a tear to my eye. Finding someone that does these things in the verses of Ecclesiastes is really good. If you find someone that is good and completes you there is nothing better, the problem is these things are hard to come by. I wish you the best of luck. You will find someone if you search with all your heart.
