Does someone need to ask God outloud "please save me" to be saved?

"They cannot believe in any true sense until after God saves them" - I politely disagree with this statement. If this statement were true then to say "we are saved through faith" would not be true because faith would be after the fact of salvation already having occurred. But it is Paul (not I) who says in Ephesians 2:8 - "for by grace are you saved through faith"

Getting baptized doesn't save us. Getting dunked in water isn't what saves us.

Salvation makes you a believer. You cannot separate them.

This is what the early Church believed. Calvin and Luther went back to those times and reintroduced it to the backslidden Catholic Church.

Must not be what Paul believed for he said (by inspiration) that we are saved "by grace through faith"

This is what Luther and Calvin taught. Grace means before you believe, and faith is the result of grace.

My point is, getting baptized doesn't lead us to have faith and belief on Jesus. We already have that when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. :) Getting dunked in water does not and will not save us. In my understanding, getting baptized is purely symbolic, because Jesus himself got baptized.

I agree. Water baptism is considered to be the 1st act of obedience AFTER one comes to Christ. We are water baptized because Christ told us to be.

Water baptism serves as a "WITNESS" to the Church and the World that we have become disciples of Jesus Christ. The "one baptism" spoken of in Scripture can NOT be seen with the human eye. That is why we are water baptized..........

Oh yeah, we so need to remember this. Some people love to complicate things so they can sound superior and knowledgeable. But it's to their own hurt.

I remember when I read this for the first time, it still amazes me:

Agreed. If someone's drowning (in sin) I would hope they'd shout as loudly as they can to be saved, like Peter did to the Messiah, and not stay silent until it's too late.

13 Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Amen my Aussie brother.......and for sure, men, religion and even churches over complicate many simple truths of the bible.......

It pleased God, by the foolishness of preaching to save them that BELIEVE!
