Stop acting like it was not antifa.

Only robot cnn adherants with pieces of propaganda believe those leftist lies.
(1) I have never watched CNN in my life except by accident when it happens to be on in an establishment where I happen to be. Even then, I try to ignore it. I find their reporting weak, hap-hazard, and among the least reliable.

(2) Right-wing organizations have been organizing this for weeks. There is a paper-trail (well, an electronic trail, at least) of right-wing internet groups posting the exact time of this attack on the capitol, instructing people to bring weapons and be ready to use them. Right-wing groups. Not Antifa. Trump was aware of this planning and referred to it in his speech when he told people to march to the capitol. Trump absolutely instigated it, and by Constitutional law he (as well as the individuals who did breach the capitol, and the police who helped them) should be hanged. That is what the US Constitution says.

Stop acting like it wasn't right-wing extremists. Only brain-washed ignorant fools believe that.

For the record, I am well aware that not all conservatives are extremists, and in fact a majority of conservatives do NOT approve of the actions on Wednesday. In fact, once congress reconvened on Wednesday, many of the senators and representatives who had planned to object, in light of those horrific actions, switched their vote to approve, cementing Biden's win.

And you are very wrong about who is responsible for it. ALL of the people involved have been identified as members of right-wing extremist groups.

I agree. I do lean more conservative when it comes to things such as abortion, but I'm mostly in the middle. I dont know enough about libertarian to support them. Rn I dont support any politician or political party. And you are correct he definitely isnt a traditional Republican.
FYI, Libertarians believe the less government the better. On almost any issue, their answer is, "Keep the government out of it." They believe in free market to the extreme.

On issues of abortion, homosexuality, and marijuana, they tend to side with liberals. In other words, those things should remain legal and unrestricted. They would say, "If you don't want an abortion, don't get one." But they also don't think the government should be paying for them, or for any birth control, so they would end any government grants going to Planned Parenthood, which would limit their ability to provide these things.

WRT homosexuality, many of them believe that homosexuality is sinful, but they don't believe it's any of the government's business what two consenting adults do. As for gay marriage, some are against it because they think the government shouldn't even be concerned with marriage at all. It's not the government's business who is married or not. Others are against it because it is not in the state's best interest for gays to be married. But as far as civil rights for gays, they tend to be in favor of it -- just not in favor of "special rights" for gays, because no one should get "special rights." They're also usually against quotas and AA/EOE for this reason. They argue that these laws tend to keep minorities down, coddling them and pretending that non-whites wouldn't be able to compete without advantages. This is inherently racist (they argue).

On issues of things like taxation, they are much more in tune with conservatives. They believe the only legitimate role of government is military and infrastructure. If given the chance, they would slash government programs to a tiny fraction, and minimize taxes. They are absolutely against Obamacare, or any kind of healthcare plan that forces people to get insurance. They would say if you want insurance, get insurance. If you don't want insurance, don't get insurance. They don't think the government should force businesses to get insurance for their employees. Rather, those employees who offer insurance will automatically get better employees. The free market (they say) will take care of that. Same with education. They would get rid of public education, and say it should all be privatized. Private schools would be able to provide scholarships for poorer students if they weren't required by the government to keep standards that are unreasonable, like they are now. They argue that the current educational system is an unfair monopoly giving government schools an extreme advantage over private schools, and the only reason private schools have to charge so much tuition is to compete. If you got rid of the unfair monopoly, private schools would then be competing for ALL students, rich and poor alike, and even poor parents would have a choice, unlike the current system where rich kids get to have all the best and everyone else gets sub-par government indoctrination.

My husband is a Libertarian, and I've come to learn a lot about their position. I think in some ways it's not completely compatible with Christianity, but I do understand their intrinsic logic.

That explains it, you are at best outward form Christians, denying the power Jesus died to bring the world.
He was clear that most would be of that camp, whereas His Own who walk with Him in vital relationship would do greater works than He.

Conservatism isn't considered an extremist ideology neither is Republicanism. I think you are attempting to conflate extremism with the conservative spectrum.

You're falling for the big lie that so called "right wing extremists" are just a few steps down the spectrum from conservatism and that isn't true; they aren't even on the same line chart. That was made up as a smear campaign. The media has spent several years repackaging and rebranding labels to discredit their opponents.

Changing definitions then calling something that it isn't is a misnomer, the real 1984 newspeech that produces doublethink in our Orwellian world. You've eaten right out of their hand and are now parroting their talking points.

I know you're watching something on the CNN side of the media bias spectrum after reading your posts in this thread. I will say that I do like your Bible posts though.

I do think it's ironic you said "Stop acting like it wasn't right-wing extremists. Only brain-washed ignorant fools believe that." Especially since I just explained to you how those so called right-wing extremists aren't even on the same spectrum as right-wing conservatives not do they share similar ideology. That's what the big lie is and it's been repeated enough that people believe it rather than just research the truth.

Abortion is not a political platform. Nor is the lack of it.

This is a concern for God fearing people and politicizing Christianity has put this nation where it is...or at least it has certainly helped to create the current miasma

You cannot be a middle of the road person because neither side will 'take you in'. People make choices. If a person believes they can just walk some line in the middle, they will eventually choose whatever side gives the least resistance. By your remarks about Trump and the comments about orange haired god, I see what you think and say if no one objects.

I think you have chosen and frankly, I choose to end the converstation. Thank you
You have every right to leave a conversation of course, but I do have to add that the poster repented for those comments. I don’t think we should be bringing them up. We all say things we shouldn’t sometimes, often exaggerating our feelings because of frustrations. I would hate for people to bring up my failings after I apologised. I have so many.

... but I'm going to ask anyway:

How many here have changed their opinion of Trump due to the events of this morning (Wednesday) at the US Capitol? Or maybe you still prefer him to Biden, but you agree he maybe went too far?

I feel exactly the same. Still support him. I don't think he went too far and I'm still praying he will remain in office.

I don't think this is your place at all.

Perhaps you would like to censor people here? I am sure you can find someone far more worthy of your efforts than I am.

That would include people in this thread.

I am not censoring anyone. I thought Christians are meant to encourage one another in the simple things like forgiveness and overlooking faults etc. I thought it was a basic principle of the faith and was just encouraging a sister to remember love covers a multitude of sins. If the poster hadnt apologised then i could see why you brought it up. You don’t have to listen to me but I meant to you no harm. Take care and God bless.

You know excuse me, but what kind of drama are you trying to create here?

First off, this is the NEWS FORUM, and I disagreed with someone's comments. You had nothing to say in this thread but decided I needed you to moderate me. The problem there is that you are making things up and creating a drama that does not exist.

You are not being nice; your subtle snooty comments about basic faith principles and supposedly encouraging someone, are ridiculous.
It is not your business if I wanted to say something or not. I said nothing wrong. Do you have some kind of personal relationship with the poster that you are harassing me at this point?

I never said anyone meant me harm, so where do you get that from? This is schoolyard drama you are creating, while redirecting the thread to make yourself the center of attention.

Get over it and move on. Maybe you should not frolic about in the NEWS FORUM if you are going to get so worked up over people who disagree. It is not your place to tell others what to say or think.

Some people really cannot keep their noses out of what is not their business. That would be you in this case.

Sorry you took it this way. Whether I am inadequate at explaining or you misunderstood my motives it doesn’t really matter. It not nice to be at odds with you for no reason. I don’t know anyone personally here, I will now just use the ignore button so as not to cause offence any further (Such as if I were to accidentally reply to any of your posts). If you would be so kind as to do the same then we won’t be able to see each other’s posts and that way I won’t get on your nerves. I can’t make you do that but it might make your experience here nicer if you did.

Life is too short for falling out.

LOL! Tells others what to say and do then says they will have a better experience here if they do what she says.

Never had one word with her that I can recall. With all the censoring going on, she just pressed the wrong button.

Bye bye missy

  3. What, specifically, have these people done to "deny the power Jesus died to bring the world"?
Thanks in advance

Just a friendly reminder, the debate needs to remain civil. If it can't be kept civil the thread will be closed and offenders removed.

There is a reason that many social sites like this one prohibit politics as a subject, the vast majority can't discuss the subject without making snide comments, personal attacks against the character of their opponent, or getting their knickers in a knot.

I'm sorry that I wasn't more clear. I don't believe that all conservatives are extremist, nor do I think all Republicans are. I was in fact drawing a line of distinction between mainstream conservatives and extreme conservatives.

I would say that the Republican Party as a whole is moving closer and closer to the extreme right, which is troublesome to me. I remember a time when Republicans were more moderate. Now I can count moderate Republicans on one hand.

You're falling for the big lie that so called "right wing extremists" are just a few steps down the spectrum from conservatism and that isn't true;.....
I'm not sure where you got the idea that I thought most conservatives were right-wing extremists. But again, I apologize that I was not more clear in stating my belief that that is NOT the case.

I'd say the difference between right-wing extremists and mainstream conservatives is about the same as the difference between left-wing extremists and mainstream liberals.

If you think most democrats -- especially those in power, like Pelosi and Biden -- are "left-wing extremists," then I have news for you, you are the one who is deluded, who has been lied to by media, and who has bought the lie, hook line and sinker. Today's Democratic Party, on any international measuring stick, would be to the right of center. Extreme liberals are rare in this country. They exist, but they don't have any political clout. If you don't believe me, I refer you to Exhibit A: Bernie Sanders. He's pretty solidly "Left," (not even "extreme left," as he is not calling for communism or an end to all capitalism), and he has been soundly silenced by the Democratic Party and deemed too far left for them. They almost tolerate Warren, who is significantly right of Sanders, and that's just almost.

Antifa qualifies as left-wing extremists. And they are condemned by the PTB. They ran a slick campaign, trying to get people to believe that "Antifa" just means "anti-fascist," and anyone who was anti-anti-fa was just "fascist." They fooled a lot of people -- myself included. But when they started killing people in the name of their movement, it became clear they were extremists.

I know you're watching something on the CNN side of the media bias spectrum after reading your posts in this thread.
Sorry. I can't stand CNN. I get my news from as unbiased sources as possible.

BBC is a great source for American news, because they don't have a dog in the race, as it were. They tend to be very unbiased on American news, because they have no allegiance either way. They don't have to worry about which side is buttering their bread, because neither side is. With world news, they tend to be a little biased, not either right or left, but just self-centered -- they report things in a way to make themselves look good. Huh, whoda thunk it, right?

For other unbiased sources, I recommend AP and Reuters.

I do think it's ironic you said "Stop acting like it wasn't right-wing extremists. Only brain-washed ignorant fools believe that."
I said that in direct respond to "Absolutely," who had said "Stop acting like it wasn't Antifa."

It wasn't Antifa. We have real-time footage of the people who broke in. Some of them even streamed live onto social media while they were breaking in. Authorities had been tracking the web with their comments. They had been planning this coup for weeks. They said they were going to do it, and they did it. It wasn't Antifa. It was extreme right-wing groups like The Proud Boys and Neo-Nazis. This is not mainstream Republicans or mainstream conservativism. This is extremism.

Freedom of Speech has limits. You can't yell "Fire" in a crowded theater. You can joke about causing harm to the President. And you can't attempt to overthrow the government. What those people did was treason, and it should not be tolerated.

If mainstream Republicans want to be seen as "not on the same field" as right-wing extremists, then they should be much more vocal and vehement about their denouncement against Trump and his followers and what they did. Otherwise, they're going to start looking more and more like the extremists themselves.

In other words, quit preaching to me about how different you are from extremists. Just show me. Prove it to me with your actions, and denounce Trump and his followers.

If you can't do that, then maybe you're not all that different.

If you can't do that, then maybe you're not all that different.

We can agree to disagree on the rest, but I wanted to make a final comment about your confusion about political extremes with political spectrum.

You did rightly identify antifa with extreme leftism, but neo-nazism is also leftist. Any sort of authoritarian fascism is aligned closely with governmental power and control which is a Democrat ideal; antifa and neo-nazis are birds of the same feather. Extreme right wing ideology would be more along the lines of limited government, almost anarchy. Big difference.

That's the sort of lies I was talking about. The media regularly conflates the worst examples with their political opponents to discredit them. To briefly illustrate this, antifa uses violence and coercion to further their political interests and intimidation to discourage freedom of speech. Again, here's a misnomer - they aren't anti-fascist, they are textbook fascist and neo-nazis aren't much different.

Neither share anything in common with the liberal left who's goal is to undermine the influence of the mainstream and supplant it with something else - probably socialism and eventually communism. They have sorta grafted themselves into the Democrats, but not exclusively. There are also neo-conservatives who has shifted further left.

Let's end on an agreement, I do agree the political spectrum has shifted over the years - for example Bernie is considered somewhat moderate now for a left winger.

I am from the UK and very international in my outlook. What we are seeing in the USA is absolutely shameful.

You don't know what you have until it is taken away from you.

You shall know them by their fruits. We have been shown mercy, grace and forgiveness by our heavenly father and like Jesus we are expected to behave like that. Christian life is all about maturing in Christ and growing up.. and becoming more like Him in character. If you can't see that in the person that says it all.

As Christians we should be looking for evidenced based information and they are a lot of good experts who have tremendous integrity and might not be my kind of Christian BUT that doesn't give me the right to CLAIM I am the only right kind of Christian... how dare I judge the soul of another human being as the only true judge is Jesus!! But God has said their fruits will give me the discernment I need to choose wisely. Please note God's image in all of us as HE is our creator.

So just because someone claims to be a christian and supports all the policies I like but their fruit and character says otherwise there must be a warning bell in my mind. WORDS MATTER as it leads to thoughts and then actions and habits and CHARACTER.

Someone can be honest and full of integrity but have different beliefs or policies doesn't mean I have to DEMONISE them but my responsibility is look at the overall CHARACTER of the person and the servanthood of the person. I am extremely imperfect and so are all our political systems and all of us. HENCE WE ALL NEED JESUS DESPERATELY TO DO THE RIGHT THING BY HIM.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven Matthew 5 1-3

Right. That is a good place to stop reading right there. The entire world is at odds with itself but it seems that you, with your international outlook, think it is a helpful thing to come on this site and dump on the US.

Got it.

I would like to know what you are actually thinking with the above remarks. You made the remarks and now I would like to know just who you might think fits either description.

I have the impression that you may have specifics in mind.
