Don't worry. Fluffy split at the first ching chong. He was afraid this guy might try his hand at cooking ethnic cuisine.
Learning how to remove the fur -- while still keeping the meat tender -- is always the hardest part.

Thank heavens for my slow cooker! :geek:

Removing the fur really isn't that hard. After all, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Or so I've been told, I've always been more of a dog person myself (and though I'm sorely tempted to post the picture of roasted dogs from that one market / restaurant in Asia; I think I will show compassion to the animal lovers here)

note 2: I never knowingly ate dog, but I also didn't always know exactly what kind of meat I was being fed.

never eaten dog
There are better meats to eat, like crayfish.

some people are just ignorant, so usually I ignore them back.
You can try educating them, but sometimes they just dont want to learn, its like giving something holy to a dog.

I think people are just scared of Chinese people cos we happen to outnumber everyone else on the planet lol. Im like, what are you afraid of really. The food is delicous, the culture is strange, but hey we are FAMILY.

haha the skinny people thing is weird
always been skinny and people think its cos I dont eat when I just eat the same as everyone else.
Im always beeing told to eat more and im like but ive already had 2 helpings. Eating more doesnt do anything its just makes me feel a bit sick.

Everyone trying to give me more food and feeling free to comment in front of me how I need to fatten up.
Im like, just let me enjoy my food ok. If I want to eat more I will. You dont have to force me. I love food.

also get the people who are usually bigger, asking me how do you keep so thin? Im like I dont know its not something I conciously think about every minute of the day. I wonder if I can be rude back and ask someone how they got a big chest or something, or maybe they will just say well whT God had forgotten, girls stuffed with cotton. Or silicone.

well, I don't have a pic of her.
I don't want a preconceived ideas of what she looks like till I meet her.

As for being Asian, I really hope not.

Do you think God would give me an Asian wife?

Surely no 😆
If it be God's will then what is wrong with an Asian wife? As long as you are equally yoked then it should be a happy marriage or relationship.

most people who know us or have heard of Hub and myself,
think that we are Jesus freaks and/or health food nuts -
we think of this as a Heavenly compliment, but from
the world, a back-handed one...

my adherence to stereotypes .. is that really a problem ?
So what, I have to engage in ethnic neutrality, like that gender neutrality ?
Whatever you say Bono.

That is actually very fitting... Bono once played the part of a racist entrepreneur in a movie.

No we're just asking you to engage in the barest modicum of education about the world you live in to ameliorate your ignorance. And while it's fine to have a preference for the practices of one culture over another; it's not ok to parade around a level of ignorance that a two second google search could solve. Nor is it ok to insult or belittle other cultures and their practices because you don't understand them or agree with them. Just like your own, any other culture will have it's strengths and weaknesses.

Well, let us see 😁

but is Ching Chong correct ?
I want to know ...

No,@UCA4J 😊 Mandarin language is the most prominent/spoken language in CHINA. I am not a Chinese but I live in Asia... So people outside Asia call me an Asian 😊

So,Ching chong is not a language nor a dialect 😊

Well see now, this is more a personal slur and not necessarily an ethnic one. For instance, my ethnicity is Irish and I still have family from the norther Ireland area - Belfast so that makes me a potato headed, bog hoppin', pot licker, fire bush (red head) drunker. And I don't drink! Sooo.......... Anyway, I think you're quite delightful despite your squirrel like appetite.

Hey Everyone,

Some posts in another thread here in Singles brought me right back to the days of the kids on the playground (of a Lutheran school, no less,) at the library, and in the neighborhood "slanting" their eyes at me and calling me, "the little Chinese girl" (plot twist: I am not Chinese) along with other various racial stereotypes. This had me thinking about the stereotypes that EVERYONE faces at some point in our lives.

What have people assumed about you because of your race, gender, or social status?

For example, what goes through your mind when you hear:

* All (people of one race, group, ethnicity) (are like this, speak that, do all of the following stereotypical behaviors.)

And, it's certainly NOT just about race. How about these?

* Single people are (lazy, hopeless, wreckless, party all the time,) etc.

* Single adult men must be (I'm sure you can fill in the blanks.)

* Single adult women must be single because (fill in your reasons here.)

* Men only care about looks and sex.

* Women only care about prestige and money.

* Skinny people must be that way because (they're anorexic, they don't eat, they have a problem.)

* People who are overweight are that way because (they're lazy, they can't stop themselves, they refuse to do anything about it.)

* Pretty people have it all, and don't have to worry about anything

* Ugly people are always ignored.

* Rich people don't have to worry about anything.

* Poor people could do better if they just tried harder.

Has anyone ever assumed any of these things about you?

When I was younger, I would usually crumble because I was so shocked at how unbelievably cruel people can be. These days, I try my best to run right into a challenge head-on instead of backing down, and, when possible, I'll often try deflect it with a bit of humor when I can (however, some things, of course, are just too serious to make jokes about.)

How about the rest of you?

* What stereotypes have people assumed about YOU (and still assume about you today?)

* How do you choose to handle it? Is it different than how you used to react in the past? If, so, why?

Thank you for sharing, and I'm looking forward to hearing your answers. :)

Another Seoulsearch soul searching question ;)

I've been called a few things in my time lol, some of them probably true at that time o_O. Contrary to what you might believe I'm a bit of an introvert - I don't handle crowds of people well unless I really know them. So sometimes people have picked up that as me seeming disinterested or even a bit awkward. But once folk get to me and I them they usually change their mind...well hopefully lol.

I'm can't speak of school ground name throwing/bullying, because I was never bullied..name throwing yes but I usually gave as much back :censored::eek:. And thinking back In those days I've more than likely hurt peoples feelings which is not a good thing - vice versa.

Now, I'm not worried about what people think, not in an arrogant way but in the sense that with everyday passing I see my identity not in the words and thoughts of others but in the the words and thoughts of my Father in heaven. Doe's that mean I don't have insecurities about my own abilities or what others may or not be saying? No, of course not but my insecurities and other peoples views do not define my Identity. I read this recently:

"If we’re honest with ourselves, we often feel insecure. Those who hide it best often feel it most.
But our insecurity is an invitation from God to escape the danger of false beliefs about who
we are and find true peace in who he is."

I am truly sorry for the stereotypes people are labeled with and have to deal with from others. It really does hurt us all.

I feel very blessed that I have friends from fairly diverse backgrounds who have helped me learn about the things other people deal with on an everyday basis.

It always troubles me how some stereotypes become "socially unfashionable" -- not as polite to talk about, but all still there under the surface -- while other stereotypes carry right on and almost seem to be the "cool" thing to make jokes about. I was thinking in particular about weight issues.

It's become less socially acceptable to make fun of people for things like race, but yet, heavier people still seem to get made fun of on a regular basis, and that both saddens me and convicts me at the same time.

Several years ago, I joined "Curves," a gym franchise just for women, and I remember seeing one heavier woman there who was really throwing herself into the workout. Stupidly I thought to myself, "Oh, she's working so hard -- I wonder why she isn't seeing more progress? Poor lady."

And then I found out she'd already lost something like 70 pounds.

Oh my goodness.

I was kicking myself for being so judgmental, and really praying that God would help me do better in the future.

P.S. @phil36 -- Welcome back!!! Great to see you around the forum again and hope you'll keep right on posting. :)
