Regarding Revelation 6:9-11 and more good stuff:
Rev. 6:9
And when He had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

So, let's all pay special attention to the "I" in "I saw." The unsealing by Jesus Christ is witnessed by John, who is in heaven at our Father's throne, along with the 24 elders and an enormous number of God's saints. What time is it exactly? It is the Lord's Day (Rev. 1:10), the first day of the Millennium, right before the King of kings and Lord of lords returns to earth with a rod of iron to rule over all nations.

Who is it that John sees? He sees the "dead in Christ" who are right there in heaven, under God's altar. This is an "eye witness" account of where the dead are. In 1 Thes. 4, the apostle Paul also made this point about where the dead are clearly plain. He said that if you believe in Christ's death and resurrection, you must also believe that others who have died in Christ have done the same and are now with Him. To be absent from the body is, of course, to be present with the Lord. That's how He'll be able to bring them with Him when He comes back.
1 Thes. 4:13-14
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. [14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

So we must know where the slain, the dead in Christ, are in Seal #5—We now have the information. They have joined Christ in heaven. The reason for their deaths is then revealed. They were killed for the sake of God's Word, for loudly and fearlessly speaking the truth, and for bearing witness of the crucified Christ.

And as John stood there watching, this is what the dead in Christ were saying:
Rev. 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
How long? Soon. And there will be a judging and an avenging by He who is holy and true, and every knee shall bow! It is known as the Day of Vengeance of our God, the return of Messiah.

[11] And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

In verse 11, we see that white robes were given to them (white raiment symbolizes purity and righteous acts), which are the "clothing" for the spiritual body. These saints under the altar of God are then told to be patient for a "little season.” That season would be that which is described in Mark 13:28.
Mark 13:28
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near. . .

Gotta stop for now. Just know we are living in exciting times!
For such a time as this,

I have only been to the spirit world a couple of times but when I was there I had no sense of time what so ever but I wonder if my soul or spirit was there as to be honest I don't fully understand the difference
Conclude you are still alive....you have not been to the spirit world.

I see you're trying hard to avoid the fact that they were told to take a rest, even going as far as to completely change the Word of God to make the word mean patience rather than rest. I'm really surprised at you by that level of carelessness. As always, the Greek word for rest in Revelation 6:11 is there for anyone to see and it doesn't mean patience.

It means repose which is a state of rest, sleep, or tranquility; to take ease or refresh.

anapauō
an-ap-ow'-o
From G303 and G3973; (reflexively) to repose (literally or figuratively (be exempt), remain); by implication to refresh: - take ease, refresh, (give, take) rest.

In keeping with the Biblically sound doctrine of soul sleep, Revelation 6:11 says that they will be given rest. By definition, this means sleep.

I was taken in the spirit not the flesh there are several instances in scripture where men are tekn in the spirit For instance

I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago – whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows – such a one was caught up to the third heaven. "I know a man in Christ": refers to Paul himself, as he speaks in the first person in 2 Corinthians 12:7

It seems that you are quite confused. So let's clarify so that others don't get confused.

1. The Church is the Body and Bride of Christ. All redeemed souls are within this Body.

2. Many have already passed on and are now in Heaven. These are "the dead in Christ" or those who "Sleep in Jesus" (just like Stephen). On earth their bodies give the appearance of sleep after death. But they are all very much alive in Heaven.

3. The Resurrection/Rapture is one event, and yes it is before Daniel's 70th week. We have a lot of opponents to the Pre-Tribulation Rapture because they simply do not understand the purpose.

4. At that time Christ brings with Him the souls and spirits of the saints who died, so that they may receive their immortal and incorruptible resurrection bodies.

5. At the same time, there will be a multitude of living saints on earth who will be transformed and raptured, and translated like Enoch. The Bible does not mention any "spirit men", but the bodies given to the saints will be "spiritual bodies" (1 Cor 15).

6. Both groups will supernaturally rise to meet the Lord in the air, and then be taken up to Heaven. Once again, a lot of people attack the fact that the saints are presently in Heaven, and will remain in Heaven after the Rapture.

7. The Marriage of the Lamb will take place in Heaven sometime during that 70th week. The Church (the Bride of Christ) will then become the Wife of the Lamb (Rev 19)

8. After that there will be the Second Coming of Christ "with power and great glory" and accompanied by all His saints and angels.(Rev 19 and other passages)
Bingo
We have a winner

That would be you who seems to not be able to read simple words clearly.

No one is in Heaven, that's why they are raised up at the end, the 70th week is the end, the church is seen n Heaven before the Seals are opened. You guys are going to lose a lot because God will reward those who didn't bury their talents. And it will be even worse on those who led people down rabbit holes. SHACK CITY in Heaven.
martyrs are under the altar right now.
Elders are there.
All the ones in paradise are now in heaven.
It even says paradise is emptied.
Paul said he will be there when he dies.

As I said before, “These saints under the altar of God are then told to be patient for a "little season.” That season would be that which is described in Mark 13:28.” Can you not understand that they are to rest a little longer until that Day of the Lord When Jesus returns?

This translation makes everything crystal clear:

1Th 4:13 Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about those who have died. We don't want you to be sad like other people—those who have no hope.
1Th 4:14 We believe that Jesus died, but we also believe that he rose again. So we believe that God will raise to life through Jesus any who have died and bring them together with him when he comes.
1Th 4:15 What we tell you now is the Lord's own message. Those of us who are still living when the Lord comes again will join him, but not before those who have already died.
1Th 4:16 The Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. And the people who have died and were in Christ will rise first.
1Th 4:17 After that we who are still alive at that time will be gathered up with those who have died. We will be taken up in the clouds and meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with the Lord forever.

I’ll try a different angle and see if that helps then.

The subject of the section of this chapter is about those who sleep:
13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

This section is about how those who sleep will be resurrected from their grave like Jesus was when their soul is returned to their body. The soul is currently not with their body in the grave, it’s with God and He’ll bring their soul to them at their resurrection when Jesus comes:
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

This just says that those who are currently living on earth will not come before those who are sleeping:
15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

This is the coming of Jesus where God brings with Jesus the souls that are asleep. Jesus isn’t bringing those who sleep with Him back to the clouds. Those who sleep are brought to earth and resurrected:
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Again, Jesus is not bringing with Him those who sleep from the Earth to the clouds because they are not sleeping in the ground, they’re resurrected. The only logical possibility here is that those who sleep being brought with Jesus are sleeping souls from God.
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Revelation 6:11 says they will take a rest too.

Rev. 6:11
11And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

So a rest can be sleeping.

Not according to the definition of that word. It only means to rest. To mean more than that, it would need to be paired with the Greek word for sleep. Also, as you have admitted, these souls of the dead were not asleep which proves soul sleep does not happen immediately after death as the doctrine claims.

This shows two truths:

1. The souls of the dead in this passage are not asleep.
2. After complaining about vengeance, they are told to rest which does not mean to sleep. Contextually it means to stop complaining and "chill".

Revelation 14:13
13And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

The Holy Spirit says in Rev. 14:13 that those who die will have rest. If they are resting then they can sleep. Not having the ability to sleep is not rest. Resting always includes the possibility of sleep by all accounts.

No. Resting from labour is the same as not working on the Sabbath. It's not about sleeping.

Yet never translated as sleep because it does not mean to sleep. It means to rest while awake like resting from labour as they did on the Sabbath.

Here's everytime the word is found:

Mat_11:28 ComeG1205 untoG4314 me,G3165 allG3956 ye that labourG2872 andG2532 are heavy laden,G5412 and IG2504 will give you rest.G373 G5209

Rest from labour is not speaking of falling asleep.

Mat_26:45 ThenG5119 comethG2064 he toG4314 hisG848 disciples,G3101 andG2532 saithG3004 unto them,G846 Sleep onG2518 now,G3063 andG2532 take your rest:G373 behold,G2400 theG3588 hourG5610 is at hand,G1448 andG2532 theG3588 SonG5207 of manG444 is betrayedG3860 intoG1519 the handsG5495 of sinners.G268

This is about a sleeping rest because the word for sleep is used. They needed to sleep because it was night and they had been awake all day.

You cannot sleep and eat. This is about resting while awake.

This is about a sleeping rest because the word for sleep is used. They needed to sleep because it was night and they had been awake all day.

Luk_12:19 AndG2532 I will sayG2046 to myG3450 soul,G5590 Soul,G5590 thou hastG2192 muchG4183 goodsG18 laid upG2749 forG1519 manyG4183 years;G2094 take thine ease,G373 eat,G5315 drink,G4095 and be merry.G2165

Obviously not a reference to sleeping.

Rev_6:11 AndG2532 whiteG3022 robesG4749 were givenG1325 unto every one of them;G1538 andG2532 it was saidG4483 unto them,G846 thatG2443 they should restG373 yetG2089 for a littleG3398 season,G5550 untilG2193 G3757 theirG848 fellowservantsG4889 alsoG2532 andG2532 theirG848 brethren,G80 that shouldG3195 be killedG615 asG5613 they were,(G2532) G848 should be fulfilled.G4137

Clearly in context they are told to rest as in waiting and being patient and resting their complaints. They aren't asleep which without a doubt proves soul sleep as a false doctrine.

You’re using a KJV+ Strong’s numbers from eSword, so look at the word rest in Revelation 14:13. It is G373 and it means exactly what I said it means:

“repose which is a state of rest, sleep, or tranquility; to take ease or refresh” and does not mean patience.

Soul sleep doesn’t have to mean sleeping at all times or immediately after death. I imagine you think soul sleep is a coma-like state from which the soul can never awake from until God says so.

This is not suggested. I don’t really care what the doctrine itself states, but rather whatever the scriptural truth is.

No. Resting from labour is the same as not working on the Sabbath. It's not about sleeping.
No what? I didn’t even say what you’re saying I did. Yes, sleeping is a form of rest.

That’s false. This isn’t time for rejecting objective definitions for Greek words when they put you between a rock and a hard place and when they debunk the thesis of your OP.

Once again, Revelation 6:11 uses G373 when talking about rest and it means exactly what it says.

G373- rest - repose which is a state of rest, sleep, or tranquility; to take ease or refresh.

Before I comment further, which translation is that?

You’re using a KJV+ Strong’s numbers from eSword, so look at the word rest in Revelation 14:13. It is G373 and it means exactly what I said it means:

“repose which is a state of rest, sleep, or tranquility; to take ease or refresh” and does not mean patience.

Soul sleep doesn’t have to mean sleeping at all times or immediately after death. I imagine you think soul sleep is a coma-like state from which the soul can never awake from until God says so.

This is not suggested. I don’t really care what the doctrine itself states, but rather whatever the scriptural truth is.

Soul sleeping is there in the Bible and sometimes it means repose which is a state of rest, sleep, or tranquility; to take ease or refresh.
Sure; why not? The word ”repose” works for me; but repose is not sleeping, @Runningman.

That's false.

Strong's says that the accepted definition for rest is G373 and it's used in Revelation 14:13 and Revelation 6:11. It means rest - repose which is a state of rest, sleep, or tranquility; to take ease or refresh.

The word repose in English means, according to Meriam-Webster:

Repose
1 a: a state of resting after exertion or strain, especially : rest in sleep

b: eternal or heavenly rest; pray for the repose of a soul

Strong's and Meriam-Webster are in agreement. The only people who aren't in agreement with authoritative sources on word definitions are critics of soul sleep in this thread. That isn't a coincidence.

Okay. So I guess we just won’t agree on this. Take care.

Why would I try to avoid a truth of God’s Word? As I said before, “These saints under the altar of God are then told to be patient for a "little season.” That season would be that which is described in Mark 13:28.” Can you not understand that they are to rest a little longer until that Day of the Lord When Jesus returns?
Say it once, say it again, say it three times. Each time you say "“These saints under the altar of God are then told to be patient for a "little season.” you're changing the Word of God.

The word you're changing is rest in Revelation 6:11 to say patience. Rest and patience aren't the same thing.

Are we agreeing to disagree that the Strong's Concordance of Bible words and the Meriam-Webster dictionary of English words are wrong and that your definitions are right? If that's the case then this isn't a disagreement, you're just wrong.

The saints will have repose which is a state of rest, sleep, or tranquility; to take ease or refresh in Revelation 6:11 and Revelation 14:13. When or if you change your mind I'll be more than happy to talk about it further.

Take care!
