But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Jesus taught us this

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[a] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.


So, that brings us to this passage

John 2
13 It was nearly time for the Jewish Passover celebration, so Jesus went to Jerusalem. 14 In the Temple area he saw merchants selling cattle, sheep, and doves for sacrifices; he also saw dealers at tables exchanging foreign money.15 Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chased them all out of the Temple. He drove out the sheep and cattle, scattered the money changers’ coins over the floor, and turned over their tables. 16 Then, going over to the people who sold doves, he told them, “Get these things out of here. Stop turning my Father’s house into a marketplace!”

I posit that this is not the behavior of a Spirit filled person, has on Jesus own teachings of loving one another, especially your enemy

Doing something sinful just because you are God doesn't make it ok. In fact, it is contradictory to all of scripture

Waiting for the ill informed to tell me how Christlike these actions were

There is a Starbucks at my church, is it ok to be an imitator of Christ and tear that thing up

There's a world of difference between trying to understand difficult Scripture passages and calling Christ's very character into question.

Let me rephrase,

How can we discern if physically harming and destroying someone else's property is Christ like, in light of the commands of Jesus to love others as yourself, do unto others, and turn the other cheek? And given that we are to be imitators of Christ

We are told not to judge those without- but since your profile says "christian", if you constantly say things that are unbecoming, it's going to get called out.
Only the government has license to kill for God, unless you're protecting the innocent. I don't judge the killers of "abortionists" (see: murderers) if abortion "clinics" are what you're talking about. Maybe God will judge them... maybe he won't.

The people (and their property) in the temple didnt belong there. Maybe learn how to act in the temple of God, and show some reverence and you won't get whipped.

Love isn't all hugs and holding hands and saying nice things. Sometimes it's dishing out a spanking... or blowing up a city. God isn't a hippie.

it's clear you have your mind made up that Christ did something unholy or sinful. Was God's destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah unholy and sinful?

Before you answer, Jesus is God and whatever HE did was from the Holy Spirit completely.

Jesus relied on the Holy Spirit for everything as a man. IF you are not a Christian and have come here with your self-righteous position you will never understand Christ in the Bible.

it seems the op is letting little hints out that his actual aim here, is to discuss the option of doing what Jesus did

only he is not Jesus and his anger is not holy or from God

anger seems very pent up as if no one is listening to him...I would drop that at the foot of the congregation he attends since he has dropped a few narratives concerning his judgement on their hideous sinfulness

mind you, sin is at the door and that well known coffee brand is definitely leftist in it's persuasions

I think he is projecting as he knows none of us here but cannot stop inflicting tongue lashings that have left most with the thought they are dealing with someone who has unresolved anger issues and needs someone to talk to about them

I found a pdf file on the internet that explains the context and more of what Jesus son of GOD did in the temple. I have attached the file hoping it will be useful.
