Christians should drink alcohol ...

Gluttony is wrong clearly. But gluttony really just hurts you and your health. Alcohol has torn marriages and families apart. Endless people have been killed by drunk drivers. I have seen it do so much damage in my own family. It just a path I don't see a reason to go down.

My cousin fell away from church, he married a woman that drinks and before long he was following her. He went to visit his sister and her husband. She told me that they brought alcohol on their visit. The whole time her brother was there, they had something to drink when they ate. After her brother left there was alcohol left over. So they continued to drink. She said after a while she noticed when the kids began to get to her, she would drink. If her husband had a hard day at work, take a drink. One night they were having an upset and reached for a drink. She said her hubby looked at her and she said " Is this what we want to teach our children? That drink is the way to cope with issues?" They agreed it wasn't. They poured the alcohol down the sink and stopped drinking. I just don't see any good argument for alcohol as a Christian. I see no benefit in it. If you're not drinking to get a buzz, why drink? Maybe I'm missing something...

We agree on most all accounts. We’ve, as a people, largely lost that alcohol was once food and not just something to get drunk or buzzed on. Wine was as normal as bread in Jesus’ day. God always chooses the most common things to show us the deepest truth. Wine and bread would have been most common staples on the tables in home. No responsible person, even without Christ, would have gotten drunk. I have wine in my home. No one living here or those I count as friends ever get drunk.

People abuse all kinds of things. I'm not advocating drinking, I'm just facing reality. I guess some people have a drink at the end of the day to unwind. If one wants to interpret scripture to say that it bans drinking, that's their business. It's not how I see it. I want to know what God's word really says. I strive to listen to what the Lord tells me, not man's tradition.

Oops...I was surprised as I thought we were getting on. I have no problem with someone disagreeing with me, however rudeness is another issue.

It mimicked the first public miracle of Moses turning water into blood, turning water into wine, the blood of grapes. As the signs were for the Israelites to get them to believe that God has sent their deliverer in Moses, so too were the signs given to the Jews to get the people believe that Jesus was God’s deliverer sent to them.

Which says absolutely nothing about the alcohol content of the ensuing wine.

for the record if someone were to strap you to a table and force alcohol into you throat i don't think that counts as sin on your part.
in the same way being raped, IMO, is not tantamount to fornication.
