Two Resurrections, Two Deaths, Three Lives.

The first resurrection of the dead is eternal life. The second resurrection of the dead is the second death.

There will be two deaths or three lives, and all are entirely different.


1st death is physical
2nd death is of the soul (death not in annihilation but death as being forever cut off from God)


In Christianity, to be reborn is a physical but also spiritual transformation. In physical sanctification and spiritual reunification as a child of God.

1st life is physically being born by a woman.


2nd life is to be reborn through the Spirit of God.


3rd life is glorification (resurrection from physical death to be like His glorious body. Or immediate transformation if still physically alive. This happens when Christ returns for the 1st time to snatch away the Church from judgment)


Philippians 3:20-21 ESV
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

Also Acts 24:15 says there will be a resurrection of the saved and a resurrection of the unsaved.

The resurrection of the saved will occur "when He comes", which is the Second Advent. 1 Cor 15:23 and 2 Thess 2:1


The resurrection of the unsaved is for the purpose of attending the GWT judgement, as noted here.

However, John also called the lake of fire the "second death". Since all humans are born separated from God, that being spiritual death, the "second death" is not spiritual, but rather physical.

iow, after the GWT judgment, unbelievers will be cast into the lake of fire, where their physically resurrected bodies will DIE AGAIN.


I wasn't able to find any reference for a 3rd life.

Here is the biblical format for life and death.

Everyone will either

be born once and die twice, or be born twice and die once.

All deaths here are physical.

Since all humans are born spiritually dead, they cannot die again.

And those who have been reborn, cannot die spiritually, since they possess eternal life. John 5:24, 10:28

Make a correction: First death (1a) is of the soul of man = Genesis ch3 , Psalm 51:5 , Eph 2:1-3
Death 1b is the physical body of man.
But God considers these as a connected death since the soul is contained in the body(until departure at physical death).

JESUS came to save us from the Second Death, which is eternal separation from HIM.

No one can escape the Second Death apart from the Blood of Christ and the New Birth being resurrected from sin unto Eternal LIFE.

Have you noted Jesus spoke of two resurrections one present and one in the future here

one resurrection are the born again now through the gospel , another is foretold at the end for the dead. We can become part ofnthe living now and pass from the condemnation death holds.

if we let our flesh die , and spirit live we don’t have to go to the grave and wait

because we can pass from it now by faith hearing ( accepting and keeping ) his word or we can be part of the last resurrection Jesus talked about when the dead will come out of the grave and hell in the end for judgement

whether we hear and believe the gospel determines if we live on or wait in the grave for the last day

Unfortunately the bible never says the words "the first death" so we have to reverse engineer what "the second death" is to understand what the first death would be.

Before the second death happens, the unsaved dead will be resurrected back to mortal and physical life. When the bible mentions the second death, it is speaking of a literal death (of body, soul and spirit) with nothing left alive.

Well, kinda. The Bible says this, in Heb 9:27 - Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,

Therefore, those who will die twice have 2 deaths; a first and then a second death. Oh yeah. The Bible describes the lake of fire as being the second death. There you go.

Unbelievers will die twice. Physically die twice.

Whereas, believers are born twice.

This is what annihilationists believe. That unbelievers will ultimately cease to exist. And that is exactly what atheists believe about death. They think they will simply cease to exist. Both are wrong.

Rev 20 tells us very clearly that the beast, FP and Satan will be cast into the lake of fire and "be tormented for ever and ever". What follows is the GWT judgment, where all unbelievers will also be cast into the lake of fire.

There is no reason to think that unbelievers won't undergo the same as the beast, FP (both human beings) and fallen angels.

Revelation 20:10
"The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.'

1,000 Years after the beast and false prophet are thrown into the Lake of Fire, they are still there.......

I really do not know what length of time God determines their existence in the Lake of Fire will be - it could be forever.
We can see that for 1,000 Years they are still experiencing the Lake of Fire.

I have and do listen to all sides of scriptural expository sharing, upon which the Scripture Itself has the final say on the matter.

Which we also wait for His Coming or the day we are taken home and the "dim view" that we have now will be made CLEAR.

Moral of the story: God loves 'dim wits' (all of us) but will soon make us into His Image.

??? = You seem to be putting 'the cart before the horse'.

According to our Lord, in the Gospel of John, we are first Born-Again Spiritually.
After that, when HIS Second Coming arrives our bodies are physically resurrected and transformed into Glorious Immortal Bodies.

It is one act with two changes. I didn't list them in, which happens first. They both happen instantaneously.

Our physical bodies and our spirits are resurrected simultaneously?

No, that cannot be for our bodies die and go to the grave and wait for His Second Coming.

Just as man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment, so also Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await Him. - Hebrews 9:28

Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is.

No, being reborn is both a physical and spiritual change as the Spirit enters then so does the physical sanctification begin.
