We are contingently immortal as Granted by God and Advocated by Jesus. Adam was similarly endowed with the tree of life. Gen 3:22 says he would live forever if he had access to the tree of life. Adam was contingently immortal when he was made a living soul.

It's Genesis 1:28

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule
over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

The text nowhere says Adam ate from the Tree of Life. In fact it was
barred to him specifically so he could not eat from it and live forever.

Contingently immortal? No. We attain to life ever after by grace through
faith in the shed righteous blood of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

Adam was not created immortal. First comes the physical, then the spiritual.
Adam was of the natural world and did was was natural to the natural man.

The text says he was forbidden to eat the tree of knowledge. He and Eve were allowed to eat anything else. To eat the tree of life, and be healed of death or forsake the fruit of the life and you will surely die. I would chose the former.

Jesus life was given to the ownership of the covenants. His virgin birth - the Davidic Covenant. His fulfillment of the Tanakh - the Mosaic Covenant. The spiritual circumcision and destruction of the temple - the Abrahamic Covenant. His death - the Noahide Covenant. It is because of this we can access the tree of life again and wear the mantle of immortality in the name of Jesus.

Once again Gen 3:22 says otherwise. Adam was immortal (with the Grace of God). Jesus is the only way for the children of Adam.

God brought the beasts of the field and every fowl unto Adam to see what he would call them.

God's plan of salvation from sin began BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.

We read:

I Peter chapter 1

BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD, God, in his foreknowledge, knew that Adam would sin and that Christ's blood would need to be spilled in order to redeem fallen mankind.
