At this point I think the ideal wife should just bring her husband peace. From my perspective, life is already chaotic. We can’t really control anything. I see that many things in life can be stressful such as our jobs, our commute to/from our jobs, interacting with the general public, but home should be a retreat from the world; an impenetrable fortress of peace, but what if it is compromised by the enemy within? The insider threat.
Someone once said, “Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t know.” What if the devil we know is living under our roof and sleeping in bed with us?
What if even our home is stressful? Then we don’t really have any place in the world where there is peace except for maybe a retreat from the world into the solitude of nature or our inner sanctum.
So peace is a high priority for me. Social/economic status, intellect, and other things are low priorities. I would literally marry someone who had nothing else if she brought peace and happiness to my heart and soul.
Amen to each and every sentence. I told God (because I can be honest with Him), "I want one hundred common women or just one jewel from You." In high school, many of my friends were part of the gang called Gangster Disciples (or FOLKS depending on where you live). They wanted me to join, but the only reason I didn't join was because I knew I wouldn't be committed for life (it would just be a phase in life). In college, most of my friends were from the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. They wanted me to join, but the only reason I didn't join was because I knew I wouldn't be committed for life (it would just be a phase in my life). I wanted to get tattoos in high school. The only reason I didn't get any was because I knew I wouldn't want the tattoos later on in life (they would just be a phase in my life).
When I commit to something or someone, I'm committed for life because I look into the future and consider it before committing. Therefore, if I'm going to commit to one woman rather than having one hundred, that one woman has to be '
perfect'. I love the word
perfect which is also translated
'blameless'. What a beautiful word! I love when God told Abraham,
"I am God Almighty. Walk before Me, and be perfect" (Genesis 17:1). Jesus also said,
"Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect" (Matthew 5:48). And my favorite line in the movie 'Remember the Titans' was when the coach told the football team with tremendous resolve,
"We will be perfect."
I believe
only in good investments. I'm not committing to a woman unless God assures me that it is a good and lifelong investment.
Period. I need assurance beforehand. I believe, looking on my heart and having watched me turn down women of every type and be more than happy to do it every day (their looks matter nothing to me if there's no godly or at least decent character), I believe God will honor my desire. The devils I know and don't know can't come on my property let alone be sleeping in the same bed. No deal.
Proverbs 18:22 gives us single men hope of finding a godly wife who, as you said, brings us
peace. The Amplified Version unfolds it this way:
"He who finds a [true and faithful] wife finds a good thing and obtains favor and approval from the LORD." That's beautiful. All the translations say it in poetic language: https://biblehub.com/proverbs/18-22.htm.
"Je suis Dieu Tout-Puissant. Marche devant Moi et sois parfait."
