Yeah why not?

I sold 4 coffee cake pans of cinnamon rolls and half a dozen individual cinnamon rolls today which was a slow day due to the holiday weekend.
Having some apple fritter type cinnamon rolls is a pretty good idea for us with the fall coming....probably a good idea to try.

I made some cherry chip cookies, blackberry pie for two, rye bread, oatmeal honey bread, honey wheat, and.....

I dunno... In my experience anything labeled "for X people" like "blackberry pie for two" is always (burp) grossly mislabeled. If it's a good homemade blackberry pie I'll need two pies just for myself.

I love the LOVE sign in the window (is that a bag of flour or coffee beans next to it?), although it would be more strategically place just under the Welcome sign for a more suggestive result. And actual sticks of cinnamon next to the rolls, cherry and blueberry baskets, and honey jars next to their corresponding products would also be an enticing touch, especially if you are using fresh ingredients. Just some marketing ideas... so excited for the new shop's robust success!

When we went to coffee roasting school to learn about selecting, roasting, grading...we grabbed some extra burlap coffee bags that coffee comes in. 8 bags to a pallet by truck. 60-80 kilograms to a bag. (Depending on the country it comes from)

We upholstered the chairs inside with used coffee burlap bags as well. One wall has a mural painted by a local artist asking "What inspires You?".

Then towards the back there's the "Kool Kids Club" where locals can stash their favorite coffee mug to drink coffee from. Also a place to promote Narrow Gate charity who helps young men straighten out their lives. They actually roast our coffee for us.

All in a historic building downtown. Wooden floors with gaps and rolls.

We really don't discount stales as it tends to train the customers to wait and shop for them.

So far....we have had good customer counts and ticket averages.....all just by unlocking the door and turning on the open sign.

If we can keep this up....we are well on our way to a smashing success.

Today I'm wondering what will be made of about the yeast cakes. The rum in them is good but noticeable. Dunno....we shall see what comes.

I would still need two, but one for now and one for later. And STILL no sharing. Not with a five inch. Gotta have at least an eight inch before I'll share it.

Fried donuts are scrumptious. By all means get fryers and fry those puppies in lard. I'm trending towards powdered and jelly-filled. My wife and I hope to drop by before the end of the year. I'll be getting a double espresso and various baked treats. Gonna take some home too.

Hopefully, apple and cherry. Maybe blueberry. OK, get 3 of those little pies.

I popped into my neighborhood bagel shop the other day...

They had discounted dozens' day-olds for over ten bucks

That seemed an outrageous price for day-olds

I am reminded too of an Asian restaurant in China town here that had a cafeteria style hot bar (not self-serve) with oh-so-yummy selections discounted to half price at the end of the day, and yes, they were very popular but also in short supply so you took your chances vying for the discounts with the demand for them. You were lucky to get them!

That probably would not really work well, but one can dream

So we sent a young barrista out into the farmers market with a tray of free samples....telling people about us. (There's a farmers market on the square on the weekends)

We got a line to the door at the moment.

Empty display trays are flying into the kitchen. Meaning that I don't think that we will have much to discount or stale out.

Gotta love guerilla marketing. Works like a charm every time.

I do not normally indulge in ice cream, though I do consume a lot of yogurt, mostly black cherry

I recently impulse indulged in some frozen yogurt, black cherry, of course. It was super yummy!

Hot blackberry pie with a cookie crust almost demands some vanilla ice cream....and a cup of coffee to go with.
