Sex could also be considered an appetite, yet is prescribed under certain conditions only, not for random pleasure aside from such.

The question was whether OP should join his friend while said friend smoked dope.

I said no. I think you would, too :)
What? Sex is supposed to be in moderation? Can be viewed as a drug because of the euphoric feeling of joy, due to endorfin releases or dopaminrelease, but not a clouding of the mind. Just a soothing of body and soul, giving us a calm. After the dopaminehit we get focused and can do other stuff for a while while being very, very happy and content. This is usefull as long as you are married. Makes it much easier to exist on planet earth and function well.

OK. I was overloaded workwise, and emmotionally exhausted, tired after a long day of clearing out furniture from an apartment. Had some help, played some gospel while working, some blaspheming and mocking of the music. Was given a smal bit of a bud or whatever you call pot a few days ago. Emptied apartment, no furniture apart from a chair. Apart from some garbadge around that I am driving to the dump today, it was quite empty. And I noticed the cigarette pack with the small piece over and over. Had some beers while watching soccer, so eventually I smoked it. Did not affect me much, do not crave it today. I do not know if it was a fail or not, but the poll seems to say so. Perhaps the test is how I feel today in regards to if it creates a craving or not. My response. I am focused, my faith is as strong as ever, so did me nothing bad.

... my drinking became a daily thing. And smoked weed daily, which
she did not like at all, much fights about that, much disappointment.

Yes, but I do not think I have an addictive personality...
You may want to rethink that

No. I spared it. I took it as a test. I have pot here now, never thought about it at all till you mentioned it. Just something I have in a box on my shelf. Will not smoke it now. It was a test of depriving yourself for me, you can disagree. How can I be an addictive personality, when I have it just sitting there, not using it. Had troublesome times theese days, no urge for it. Do not consider pot a drug, since it is natural, just a question, just to get opinions from scripture. Not smokinf it tonight. It just sits there. I just wanted to know, few answered the poll. Disappointed, only comments. Tried it, No effect after the affect. It is cool. Found some other hash, and pills in the move, threw them away, closed chapter. No big deal. Sure some is left in some box, but not searching for it, and will throw it away if I find it. I just asked about pot because of relevance, and that I think it did me good at that time. It is done now, no problem. I messed that one up if I wanted it badly, Do not want it now, otherwise I would be smoking it. Want the test.

Or just thoughts and interpretations. I was told that I could get some weed if I wanted it yesterday. I do not know if that is allowed or not. It is natural, wine is allowed in the good book, but I know too litlle scripture to make an informed stand on this issue. I only know that Jesus broke bread with sinners, so perhaps I should sit down and smoke with the sinner. Or is it so against the rules, that I must leave the room if people start to smoke it, and I do not even parttake in it? Many years since I smoked the stuff, always considered it legal in the bible, but back then I came to that standpoint as an atheist. I might get in this situation again in a day or two, maybe even tonight, though I doubt it. Since I want some input of knowledge first.
The first question I'd ask is: Is recreational weed legal where you live? If not, end of story.

The second question: Is medical marijuana legal where you live? If so, you still need a card to be legal. I live in a state where medical marijuana is legal and I know a lot of people who share their weed which is illegal.

If you're legal and you want to do it I don't think the scriptures forbit it; however, the scriptures do tell us to live soberly. If you did it in very small amounts and didn't make a habit of it I wouldn't call it sinful. But like with alcohol you can develop a dependency. I know people who get stoned before they go to church . . . nice.

My advice would be to just forget it. As Christians our reliance should be on the Lord, not substaces.

Yes, hmm... That hemlock sure is delicious!

Poison ivy makes a good salad too.

Cannabis does have legitimate medical uses like sometimes it is sometimes prescribed to cancer patients because it helps stimulate their appetite
It's also a natural anti-inflammatory.
I don't remember the exact scripture in the Bible but somewhere it says that God gave us these natural things and there's nothing wrong with using them
Ask for a psychedelic drugs, research indicates that they could potentially be used to treat things like PTSD. People have reported having positive mental effects even months after having been dosed with drugs like psilocybin.
Neuroscientist Sam Harris has covered this in his books and his podcast

Those aren't herbs.
You would be surprised what can be safely ingested if it is prepared correctly, and sometimes painstakingly. I'm from the south and down here there are some old folks that eat things that would be poisonous if you didn't spend a while preparing it correctly.

But since you mentioned it, who said marijuana is an herb?

Dear Lyn x,

Maybe I am in the wrong place for this, so if you know I am please by all means redirect me.

This year I have grown basil in my small garden. Looking up information on it I found it is good for many common health issues. I had already started just eating the leaves because I grew to like them, but now I wonder if I should not. Also, somethg else that has helped me a lot is a pinch of nutmeg each night before bed. It is not a knockout kind of help, but it sure helps me to sleep, and I like the idea that it is not some kind of strong drug or chemical formula from Monsanto.

What do you know about these two helps. I am confident of the nutmeg, but the basil is still an interrogative in my thinking... Thank you, and if this is an inconvenienced to your attention, do not worry and God bless you always.

Be back tomorrow, bedtime here.

Jesus turned water to wine, which also has intoxicating effects because it alters brain chemistry just not in the same way weed does

Hmm. Rationalization from a general statement. You gonna eat poisonous plants now, too? Some herbs are good for food; others will kill you, but are good as insecticides.

Simple: Per Rom 14 - If you Can't DO IT IN FAITH - then it's SIN. Obviously you can't.

And there the first commandment - no other gods before THE GOD. Anything that "Has you" (controls you, that you're at the mercy of, is compulsive) is your god.

Since you directed that criticism and question to God, let us know when he answers.

This thread's question comes around every so often, usually started by a troll.

My first question every time is, if you need something that changes your perception of reality so much that you argue this strongly for it... Why do you want to run from reality?

Some are running from chronic pain from a health problem. That's logical. No way to fix that, at least not yet.

Some are running from a life they hate, because they have made bad decisions. They could be trying to fix their lives instead.

Some have other reasons they want to use marijuana to run away from reality. Some are pretty good reasons. Some, not so much.

One thing it does, it lowers the interocular pressure, lowering the chance of glaucoma to blind the patient.
