I don't oppose speaking in tongues. I've said before I think it's little more than a carnival act. But carnivals entertain a lot of people; let them have their fun, but people who see it for what it is shouldn't be afraid to speak up.
i am not a fan of how television preachers promote it, supposedly teach it, and many things we see like crawling around like animals and such. that has never happened in smaller congregations. but smaller congregations aren't putting on a show but sincerely worshiping God.

i was around it my entire childhood and young adulthood and never spoke it until one day it just happened. so i can also be skeptical but i know when it's real it is definitely real.

Watchers- Not really, we are all expected to grow in the gifts, every manifestation of Holy Spirit power and anointing Jesus manifested is available to every believer, He was sent to model how each of us is to live.
No one since Jesus, as far as I am aware, has achieved His level of growth in power and anointing.
At His baptism, God called out that He was well pleased in Him, He had done nothing in ministry yet, the very way He had lived His life pleased the Father.
best wishes

That's what everyone says. But let me ask you a question: Which lie is the most hurtful, the one everyone recognizes as a lie or the one no one suspects is a lie? A lot of people in small congregations all over the world are having their own little shows. That doesn't mean what they do is any less a lie.

You say you've experienced it and know it's real. This is what I've said repeatedly is the problem. People skew their interpretation of scripture based on experiences rather than letting the truth be the basis for their experiences. They want their experiences to be real so bad they deceive themselves about what God's word actually says and means. That doesn't make them bad people, just immature in the Lord.

Complete word of God.. equals finished inspiration of scripture.

It's the process christendom went thru to come to this point. Not the paper itself.

It isn't the time when people said 'this is the canon' .. it's when God finished inspiring the writers of the NT. Also there is the point with the death of the apostles .. who carried their gifts with them till death.
the WORD is not completed though.

Daniel, from the Old Testament is still being fulfilled.
Matthew 23, Mark/Luke, Epistle of Peter, Thessalonians, Jude, Revelation are nowhere close to being completed.

how can you claim it is completed?

You've also got individual indwelling of the Holy Spirit and then a group being come upon. Different roles of the Holy Spirit.

If a group receives the Holy Spirit, is that eternal salvation or believers being empowered ?

All.thru Acts there are groups of already converted believers who receive the Holy Spirit.

This affects connecting salvation to speaking in tongues. If they are already converted, speaking in tongues when the Holy Spirit comes upon is different to salvation
The following scriptures concern when the Holy Ghost comes to dwell within a person.

Note the first two scriptures mention the Holy Ghost fell on; and came on people. This wording in no way changes the fact that each group experienced the same thing; they were indwelt by the Holy Ghost. We can know this because Peter tells Jewish leaders in Acts 11 that what occurred in the case of the Gentiles (Acts 10:44) where it says the Holy Ghost fell on them was the same experience the Jews had on the Day of Pentecost. The record of that event states specifically that those in the upper room were in fact filled with the Holy Ghost. Coming on and falling on are in fact the same action.

Acts 10:44
"While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word."

Acts 19:6
"And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied."

Acts 11:15
"And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning"

Scripture references what happened in the beginning:

Acts 2:4
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

Weeell the 66 books are done. It's a complete library.

There is nothing being added to it. The events are not finished as you say, but the recording of what will happen is.

if you knew everything that surrounds my life you would say, Satan is really and has been attacking you. we know from the Book of Job only God allows what Satan can do. the point is, Satan would not be attacking me if i was not strong in my Walk in God and use my Faith against him. if Speaking in Tongues were a long gone Gift, Satan should not even be attacking me. but victories that people around me can visibly see from miracles, healing's, and other have been in connection to praying in Tongues.

i live in one of the most Democratic/Satanic/still allows Abortion/Trump and Republican hating States in America. people here claim to be spiritualist but it is nowhere connected to Yahweh/Yeshua. they wear crystals, they are publicized Wiccan's and Sorcerers and even many so-called Churches here are so weak these people don't fear our God.

but i walked into this Book Store and into the Occult/Demonic section where about 10 Women were perusing and discussing their things related to their Witchcraft beliefs. when i stepped into their presence, one said to me, you are not one of us. i said to her, I Rebuke you in the Name of Yeshua and began Speaking in Tongues in Spiritual Warfare. they immediately left the store like a bomb was about to go off.

now, i want YOU...to read my words and TEST Me in the Spirit World.
if Speaking in Tongues is fake, WHY DOES SATAN RUN FROM IT EVERY TIME I DO IT IN his PRESENCE?

the Hebrews had only 22 Books and Jerome turned them into 37. you can look it up if you want to really know the TRUTH. and many of the New Testament writings were rejected by a known Paganist called Constantine.

are you telling me the DEVIL was able to complete the Word of God?

I guess discernment isn't one of the gifts or humility a work of the Spirit either.
i am thankful for the Gift of Discernment but in my understanding of it it is a continual judging Gift 24/7/365.

you can feel when someone is not Saved, when someone lying to you, when something is going to go badly,. it's a constant Spiritual Awareness. it's not saying to someone i saw you did this so you must be a sinner. it's a deep feeling that can make you feel uneasy or even ill like queasiness. but it is God Judging and you are aware of it.

I'm pretty sure the only reason the ancient Tanakh had 22 or 24 books and the modern Tanakh has 39 is because of the way they're divided. They each contain the same material, they're just divided differently.

The Creator knows the end from the beginning, the number of books in any volume of His instruction has little bearing on the personal relationship He requires and can grow us through.:)

that is possible... but if I were trying to "prove" a point, I don't believe I would use a scripture that is almost universally accepted as not being a part of the original script.... being "added" at a much later date.
If it (my original question) was a true statement, there should be many unsullied scriptures that validate it.

Universally accepted by whom? Only two or three known manuscripts don't have Mark 6:9-20 compared to hundreds that do. We're supposed to accept two or three witnesses just because they're older? Who says older is more reliable? What is the evidence that demonstrates they're more reliable?

oh not the 'god' inna box thing

how is tongues not a part of the doctrine of scripture? tongues as simply an experience equates with having feelings that can be good or bad or up and down as many people actually are in their 'experience

I'm glad you value tongues....so do I. but, they are far more than just an experience

well who am I to talk to you that way? just another person who was taught that tongues are not for today or worse, are satanic and who has heard, most likely, every argument for or against tongues. personally, I would be very turned off if I had not already received the gift of tongues if someone spoke to me as you are speaking above

smh
Bow your knees and ask the Lord if tongues are for us today. Don't be surprised if He shows you something you don't want to believe. In my case, emotions are out of the question, I don't need to get bent out of shape to speak in tongues. It has helped me so much in difficult situations-- and I have seen the Lord act on my behalf over and over again.

You are creating a prototype as an excuse not to believe God's word.

if you would just READ you would see each Book also represented the LETTERS in the Hebrew Alphabet. hence 22 Letters = 22 Books.

and if you would just READ you would discover that Jerome thought some Books were too long and chose to make them into 2 Books or create a new Book for them.

See, even SATAN had his part in destroying the original Word of God.

i find it hilarious people who choose not to look something up but will still give a negative opinion towards that which they are uneducated about.

You mean "St." Jerome, the one who gave us the Latin Vulgate by commission of the Pope? That Jerome?
