"Do phrases like ‘ask Jesus into your heart’ and ‘make Him
your LORD and Savior’ corrupt The Gospel Of Grace?

Men are saved by believing The Gospel That Christ Died for our sins and
Rose again (I Cor. 15:1-4). If a man asks Jesus into his heart without be-
lieving this, The LORD will not enter his heart. On the other hand, if he
believes The Gospel, The LORD Will Enter his heart without being asked.

And “make Him your LORD and Savior” confuses salvation with service.
Believers should make Him their LORD after they are saved, but that is
not what saves them.

We realize these phrases are dear to many, but no one in The Bible was
ever saved by hearing them, and nowhere are we instructed to use them
to share Christ. But if they were used when you were saved, you’re still
saved—if you believe The Gospel!

Receiving Christ as Saviour is it. Making Him Lord of your life in every area takes a long time!

There is also 'back loading' works into salvation.. where some say God only saves those who WILL be faithful to the end. Or salvation becomes 'turning from sin and cleaning my life up.. then I can get saved'. Both are minimising Christ's effectual work on the sinner to convict them of sin and save them eternally!

I agree.. People need to know what actually saves.. A person can miss out on the truth that saves by just being told to simply invite Jesus into their heart.. There are things one must Believe and there is the Atoning blood of the LORD Jesus one must trust in to be saved..

Yes I believe phrases such as this do a disservice to the person uttering them, giving them a false idea of what being a Christian really means.

If people do not understand the true purpose and nature of salvation, how can they have an honest relationship with God?
If they don't understand what sin is, how can they hope to repent and overcome it?
If they don't admin they are a sinner, they are not acknowledging their weakness and inability to escape death and judgement by their own power
If they don't accept that Jesus died for them to pay their debt, how can they know their true worth?
If they don't accept and believe that Jesus died, was buried and rose from the dead to conquer death, how can they understand and receive the eternal life that is offered to them?

Jesus made the Gospel easy to understand, and it is simple, but it is man who makes it complex and complicated and buries it under many words that act like a wrapper that they think will make it easier to accept and digest. But all God wanted us to do was be his messengers, to deliver his truth as he spoke it, not paraphrase or disguise it into a more attractive package. If speaking the simple truth worked for Jesus, it should also work for us.

These things represent the beginning of our learning, and the more accurate we can be with the Gospel, the better! Better to start people off with the right idea.

Yeah I think there is nothing biblically off with 'asking Jesus into your heart'.. but that means knowing Jesus is God, lived a sinless life, died and rose again. That by believing in Him a sinner has eternal life.

Not just repeating words back to someone or asking Him in without knowing the truth about Him.

Mostly kids need to hear ask Jesus into your heart after an explanation of the Gospel.

No, these are terrible. I think they are a source of future doubt and condemnation. I think we should never use these phrases. Ever. We should teach the gospel and baptize those who believe. All the other stuff is just wierd made up humanism that casts a shadow of doubt and unbelief

Salvation is a heart thing, not a head thing. Many men walked with God long before Jesus came to Earth and died on a cross.
