I get really annoyed at Christians who tell singles, even thinking about sex is a sin, YET, they have no problem with people getting married 2,3,4,5 times. Divorce and remarriage seems to be acceptable, but a single person even thinking about sex is a sin. Which is worse?

Do you realize that when Christians tell you (as a single) that even thinking about sex is sinful, they are wrong?

Now could you stop harping about that already?

It's a bit disingenuous to pose a question about marriage and then couple it to another subject. And it's a bit self-defeating since you will no doubt garner more input from those who you say annoy you.
For the record, ranking the severity of sin doesn't absolve sin.

I kinda doubt "those Christians" have no problem with people getting married and divorced several times over.

yet it happens all the time in the church. When was the last time you heard a sermon on divorce and remarriage? At the same time they tell singles what to wear, what movies or tv shows not to watch.

The people who preach to singles about living a pure life should think twice if they have been married and divorce. They've had a sex life with more than one person, yet put limits on what singles should even think.

Sorry but this is not "my lived experience" to use the modern day expression! :);)

they are wrong. They don't know the scripture. They need to study the verses before giving it to someone. As we all should.

A separate point: It's hard being single and just getting by, while those who have been married several times prosper with GOD's blessings. I think it's great GOD has blessed them. Nothing against them. It's how GOD gives out his blessings. I really don't like it when a Christian who has much, tells me I should be thankful to GOD for what little I have.

Unfortunately that has been my experience with Calvary Chapel. I should narrow that down to one church. I went there for over 20 years.

Well I can agree there are many double standards that are not good.
Organized religion has lost a lot of credibility over the years.

My problem isn't with the topic or your particular view of it. I just thought it was a bit of bait and switch.

Agreed. It's insensitive. Unfortunately, it's also valid. However, you might want to keep these verses in your pocket for such occasions:

Luke 6:24 “But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.

James 1:10 But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.

There are justified reasons for divorce and remarriage.
Are you trying to tar everyone with the same brush?

1. Firstly one should not equate Christendom with "the Church".
2. Secondly one should not discuss sex with others, since it is a totally private matter.
3. Thirdly the Bible says that God hates divorce, so Christians must hate it too.
4. Fourthly the scenario you have presented represents Hollywood, not Christendom.
5. Fifthly you seem to be obsessed with singles "thinking" about sex instead of simply getting married. So find yourself a good godly wife and then the problem will be resolved.

I agree, I get really disappointed when a church leader supports any politician. I understand supporting ideas, but not the politician.

Just the idea of showing compassion to the married and none for the single person.

I had a real hang up about that issue. I got married at 17 and divorced at 24. I didn't feel like I could get remarried as long as my ex-husband was alive forget the fact he had already gotten remarried himself.

In the mean time I was committing all kinds of other sins but I just couldn't clear myself to get remarried. I was single 35 years not faithful to God that whole time but hung up on not being able to get remarried. I didn't like being alone but wouldn't allow myself to get remarried.

After my first husband passed away in 2014 and my daughters father passed away in 2010 I felt free.

God probably would have been o.k. if I got remarried earlier since my first husband had already remarried, but some doctrines and teachings really grab ahold of people. In reality it was better for me not to have married again until I could grow up a bit and work out a better relationship with God in my 35 year break.

I learned I'm not perfect and that I have a lot of trouble with sin and that I am thankful for a Saviour who died to save me from my sins. Who has forgiven me for my mistakes. So that's my 2 cents on this topic.

Most pastors/Christians do view divorce as last resort; the preference is to repair the marriage. The church doesn't kick out divorcees, just as singles living together/giving birth to babies outside marriage are not kicked out either. I think the message is there but just not enforced.
