It's always best to look closer at the text.

Does it make a command to forgo Bible study?
Is there any kind of imperative statement at all?

What does it actually say?

The "many books" are all those -- excluding the Bible -- that occupy people. One must also keep in mind the point of the view of the writer (Solomon) who was "under the sun" but NOT "under the Son".

If there was only one book to read it would certainly be the written Word of God -- "the volume of the book" -- which reveals Christ throughout, from Genesis to Revelation. The wisdom of God is in this book. Salvation is in and through this book.

Be doers of God's word and not studiers only.

Too much study without putting things into practice is what causes people to overthink things. Your head is in the clouds. You have too heavy of a heart to act. You become no good to anyone....and worship of God is a group activity.

It's not saying don't study the Word, obviously.

But going deeply into scripture, does wary at times.

Imagine trying to memorise the Levitical laws in the OT. Not that you have to do this.

Same goes for the geneologies at the start of Mathew etc

This should be a reference to what is falsely called knowledge. I pray night and day for all to receive the wisdom, understanding and knowledge from God so we not be deceived by the false versions. You know, those facts that many call truth which will be from of this world's truth only to be dissolved in the fire next time.

The scripture points to Jesus and how we follow Him.

Love from a pure heart and a sincere faith, is the ultimate goal of all Christians.

We need to keep in mind that the Bible is a living book, it’s alive, we mustn’t approach it like any other book.

For the word of God is quick (alive), and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

I know that I didn’t explain my point well.

Of many books. At the time of Solomon, there were very few books of the Scripture.
So lets have some context here.
The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth. The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd. And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:10‭-‬14 KJV
Solomon writing to his son, speaks of wise words and seeking out words and the writing of books, or in other words scholarship saying while it is good it is wearysome, and concludes that, "fear God and keeping the commamdments is the whole duty of man."

I don't think it's warning only about too much Bible study; but Bible study could be included. The message of Ecclesiastes is to enjoy life while we have it without going overboard on study, work or anything else. Study is good, but too much study to the exclusion of other things that make life enjoyable can be a problem.

NOOO, no

it means the books of men.

Strangely enough you CAN read too much scripture at a time. It really is better to study a portion or two at a time and ponder and pray over it.

... that's just my onions

it means that the Bible will never be completely understood by any one person. it also means every time you read it, you may learn something new. &, it's a constant spiritual nourishment. the older you get, the more the memory of studying the Bible becomes joyous. consider 2nd Timothy 2:7- "consider what I say & the Lord give thee understanding in all things". 2nd Timothy 2:15- "study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth". any time is a great time to read the Bible, when drawing away from Jesus, happy, sad, in your best mood, etc. going back to 2nd Timothy 2:7, it may sound like a contradiction. it's possible, everything a person asks God to help understand may be answered but that person will never ask EVERYTHING.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

This really isn't about book study.

Study is used here like we might say, "Wow, she is a study in graceful dance" or "He is a study in rigid determination".
The word is only rightly divided when it is applied and used, not when it is correctly parsed by English, Greek, and Hebrew theologians.

If I may paraphrase: "Show that you are approved by God by living the word you preach."

Its written "My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thy heart. For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh. "

So yeah GODS word to much study? I think how we break down every word letter and.. we might be taking that way to far.

I will only say about "show your self approved unto God". It means something different... no offense to anyone but that one you have to dig a bit.
