I have noticed that when people become desperate to defend their theology nothing is off the table. Claiming that the KJV is "flawed" is but one example. Others include:
Acts 2:38 is mistranslated and it "should" say that we must be baptized because of the remission of sins instead of "so that" your sins will be forgiven.
John 1:1 is mistranslated and "should" say that the "Word was a god" instead of that the "Word was God".
Mark 16 is corrupted and should have ended at the 8th verse.

This is a shameful way of defending a theology. But those who are blinded by their own bias will resort to even putting in question the very words of God.

The Bible is the Word of God and if my theology does not line up then my theology is wrong and not the Bible.

I find this need to call into question the Bible a common approach used by followers of faith alone regeneration theology.

I thought that you might like the Chart on Greek prepositions. The word in Acts 2:38 that you were discussing "for" is the Greek word "eis". It means "into" I have 16 different translations of the scriptures and not one of them says "because". Besides this, down in Acts 2:40 it says,

(ASV) And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Peter preached and preached and finally said, ".....Be saved..." So, these 3000 were not yet saved from their sins and we see in the next scripture that they were baptized and added.

Acts 2:41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.


And what were they added to?

Acts 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to the church day by day those who were being saved.

Would anyone dare imply that Jesus shed His blood "because of" sins already forgiven?
Going to such extremes is common among those who profess faith alone regeneration theology.

If God can cause things to exist as if they already did (Romans 4:17), how can you say that God did not ordain the "chapter and verse divisions" of this book.

Please understand, I am not saying God did or did not, just that He could have.

I appreciate your taking the time to present a refutation to being baptized in water. You are right in the fact that baptism means "immersion". There are two other Greek words which are translated at "sprinkling" and one as "pouring". So thank you for making that distinction.

I have a question for you? On any given subject in the Bible, ITBN, is every part of the subject always mention in each scripture that is dealing with the subject. If that particular part is not mentioned, then can we eliminate that particular point in that set of scriptures? Let me give you and example using the key word "SAVED".

Luke 7:50 And He said to the woman, "Your FAITH has SAVED you; go in peace."

Acts 2:21 'and it shall be that everyone who CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD will be SAVED.'

Acts 15:11 "But we believe that we are SAVED through THE GRACE of the Lord Jesus Christ, in the same way as they also are."

Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been JUSTIFIED BY HIS BLOOD, we shall be SAVED from the wrath of God through Him.

Romans 8:24 For IN HOPE we have been SAVED, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?

Now, for instance, in Acts 15:11 it mentions the word "Grace", but it is not mentioned in any of the other four scriptures. Does that mean we can just forget about "Grace" and "Saved" in Acts 15:11? I do believe that you would say no, just because it is not mentioned does not mean that "Grace" is not important.

So this brings us to the subject of baptism and the places that does not mention water. How do we determine whether water was involved in baptism. It is a good question.

In the New Testament, we have eight different baptisms mentioned. They are:
1. Jesus Baptism to fulfill all righteousness - water
2. Jesus Baptism of suffering - All the Jesus went through
3. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit - Holy Spirit
4. John's baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins - water
5. The Baptism of fire - Hell
6. Noah's baptism - Through water
7. Baptism into Moses - in the cloud and the sea
8. Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Number 8 is really the only we we are concerned about. So, let's now look at all the scriptures of the conversions and see if we can make some determination as to whether baptism was done in water. I will mark the ones that say water BOLDED AND IN BLUE

TIME #1 Water is mentioned in baptism

Acts 9:17-18 So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." 18 And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was BAPTIZED;

Acts 10:47-48 "Surely no one can refuse the WATER for these to be BAPTIZED who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?" 48 And he ordered them to be BAPTIZED in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.

TIME #2 - Water is mentioned in baptism

Acts 16:14-15 A woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul. 15 And when she and her household had been BAPTIZED, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us.

TIME #3 - Paul baptized people. It doesn't say "water" but it is inferred as only men baptize others in water.

Galatians 3:26-27 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were BAPTIZED into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one BAPTISM, 6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, LOVE your wives, just as Christ also LOVED the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the WASHING OF WATER with the declaration, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.

TIME #4 - The word "BAPTISM" is not mentioned, but it mentions water.

Colossians 2:9-13 For in Him all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in bodily form, 10 and in Him you have been made full, and He is the head over all rule and authority; 11 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; 12 having been buried with Him in BAPTISM, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

TIME #5 - This would have to refer to baptism.

1 Peter 3:20-21 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were saved through the WATER. 21 Corresponding to that, BAPTISM now saves us, not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

TIME #6 - There is a comparison between Noah and us today. Baptism is compared with Noah being saved through WATER.


Did we learn the following?

1. Two of the conversions that mentioned that the baptism was done with water.

2. From what the Apostle Paul said to the Corinthians, He had baptized three of the Corinthians and he must have also baptized the 12 men from Ephesus. Men baptize others in water, God baptizes people in the Holy Spirit.

3. We see from Ephesians 5:27 that Paul spoke of baptism in water and this must have been the baptism mentioned in the book of Ephesians 4:4.

4. Hebrews 10:22 also mentions baptism with water and connects it with being spronkled with the blood of Christ (see context of Hebrews 9 where blood with sprinkled on many things under the old Testament.

5. Finally in 1 Peter 3:20-21, Peter says, "eight persons were saved through the water and corresponding Baptism (must have been water, also) now saves us.

6. Finally, in 61-63 A.D. the Book of Ephesians was written my Paul. Paul said that there was only one baptism which was about
30 years after the start of the church. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus gave the great commission where they were to make
disciples, baptize them and continue to teach them. This was to last until the end of the world (age). Again men baptize in
water. Therefore, we practice immersion in water today. There is no other type of baptism we are commanded to do by Christ.

Some people believe we do not have to be baptized to be saved, and say it is a work, and we are not saved by works, and some people just do not believe we have to be baptized.

But concerning baptism being a work everything we do and think is a work, which the Bible talks about the work of faith for faith itself is a work.

Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

It is obvious that baptism is necessary for salvation, and we are baptized into Christ's death.

Repent, water baptism, receive the Holy Spirit is the salvation plan, and we cannot cut out the middle man.

We have to identify with the man Christ Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection, by repenting of our sins, being water baptized, and receiving the Holy Spirit.

2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Some people do not allow the Spirit to lead them and they enjoy sin and believe they are still right with God.

They hold unto sin and do not get rid of it and never come to the truth that they have to allow the Spirit to lead them and abstain from sin, which a Spirit led life will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

Usually the people that believe that water baptism is not necessary are the same people who say they cannot abstain from sin which they do not come to the truth.

Jesus said He came in His Father's name.

The Son inherited the name from the Father.

The Holy Spirit comes in the name of Jesus.

The name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is Jesus.

Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans, were all baptized in Jesus' name in the book of Acts.

Are you saying we should assume that the immersion is in water?

If so, I would say the verse appears to make perfect sense without doing that. That troubles me from this perspective:
