Let me try to explain it this way.

According to the Bible, water baptism is a command of Jesus Christ. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus says, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

This passage is clear that Jesus commanded His followers to baptize those who believe in Him. Baptism is a way for us to publicly declare our faith in Jesus and our commitment to following Him. It is also a way for us to symbolically die to our old selves and be raised to new life in Christ.

While water baptism is a command of Jesus, it is not a work that we can do to earn our salvation. Salvation is a gift from God that is received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Baptism is a way for us to express our gratitude for God's gift of salvation and to publicly identify ourselves as followers of Christ.
I agree. Every master places demands on their subjects. Jesus is a generous Master, but nonetheless a master. It's not about what is required, but why we do what is required.

Sometimes I can be very poor at explaining myself. So I ask "Dear Lord help me to explain your Words with truth and humbleness of Heart." I am after all only human, but by the grace of God and Help of the Holy Ghost moving through me my writing can touch hearts. "Please dear God let me not ere"
Your doing fine. I was just checking if you believed in grace alone, or were backloading grace with works.

I very much admit I do not know all the Truth there is to know about God. So always correct me if I'm in error and provide Scripture. We must always back our thoughts with Scripture and we seem to be doing it so well. Keep up the good work brothers and sister in Christ. The fullest revelation we have of God is found in Jesus Christ (The Word of God). Those truths are not fully revealed to everyone all at once, so let's be patient with those of less understanding. And remember this is all done in Love and Grace of God, no arguing within anyone. [This is not meant in response to post being replied to. Just my personal faith being expressed.]

Some suggest that he was under conviction. He must have been in quite the quandry...knowing something wasn't right but believing himself to be blameless before God. Jesus didn't argue with him. Instead, He made a request of him that would allow him to come to the correct conclusion himself. Chances are that he did get saved as it says Jesus loved him. But that's speculation.
Jesus loved him in spite of His awareness of the man's lack. I don't suppose that changed during or after the conversation. I believe the one thing that the man must have lacked was the one thing that David desired in Psalm 27, "that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life..."

That, and he loved his possessions more than Christ. That's pretty much all of us.

Please explain a little further please.
Some people think we need to do things before God will save us. Others think we have to do things to maintain our salvation. Some people just receive salvation by grace.

Is there a right and wrong answer. I believe I receive salvation by grace. If there is any one thing we must do to receive salvation it is repent (the free gift of God's grace cannot be given to those who don't repent. Now I'm talking about the initial conversion, not the state of repentant prayer that we should be in everyday of our lives until He returns) but even repentance is a grace of God. If I'm wrong please tell me. I'm so hungry to know God's word in Truth and Righteousness.

It's a Godly sorrow that works repentance unto salvation...2 Corinthians 7:10. So while repentance accompanies salvation, it's source is God if it produces genuine salvation.

There are a thousand and then some ways to go to hell but only one way to God, I just don't get why so many insist on focusing on anything but that One Way.

You said one thing we MUST do is repent. I would phrase it as one thing we WILL do. It's the difference between response and effort or...grace verses works.

I have already afforded Nikki7 just a few of the works our Father gives us,, but = it seems it has been overlooked. i supplied the most common in which most who believe automatically execute, however if the more known ones need be mentioned, begin with prophets, healing in the name of Jesus Yeshua, the gift of knowledge, etc.
please note the post....I 'd like to see that

prophets is not good works ..... you are confusing the spiritual gifts with good works

why am I not surprised?

who is tickling your ears? there is actually a list in scripture of what God considers 'good works' and it has 0 to do with what you are saying

spiritual gifts are for the edification (building up) of the church (body of Christ).....they are not good works

That is in scripture and if someone is that far off, they need to change lanes...I mean you Jaumel

the spiritual gifts are through the power of the Holy Spirit and not anything good you do

The gifts given us are for works, not for our entertainment. Do you think a prophet is not doing works given him by the Father? Availing oneself an instrument of service ifor God to hearl? The prophet also is an instrument of service to God. Stop, please with the, cute slams and dialogue please. You have already ignored my post responding to you on the works given by God to believers. If you continue with thes slams, I will be obligedd to ignor you for your own good. God bless you with His uinderstanding, wisdom and knowledge....

Amen. The gifts God blesses us with are used to serve and glorify Him and bless others with the grace and love that flows through us by the power of God.

Some folks take issue with "works", and it unfortunately carries negative connotations in the Christian community. James does an excellent job showing that works are a byproduct of faith--how can we not have good deeds/works with the Holy Spirit operating within us?

No doubt we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus, and our works will not earn us a place in His kingdom. But, if we're not producing fruit and works that glorify God and benefit others, how can we be Jesus' disciples?

yeah? I know you cannot provide ANY scripture that states that the spiritual gifts are given for works. that's a fact

here is what the actual Bible....you know the one you call the book....says:

The purpose of the gifts is to build up the ENTIRE church (meaning Christ's body on earth) .

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4: 11-13

These gifts are not for people to use for a 'ministry'. God chooses who gets what gifts.

SAD FACT: there are many 'Christains' today who think they are speaking by the Holy Spirit but they are not. We would not have all these false prophets proclaiming things that never come true if it was the Holy Spirit

ANOTHER SAD FACT: Myriads of 'Christians' believe they are 'teachers' and they are not. This results in a false gospel message and no love of Christ 'being shed abroad'

Now here is me speaking some plain English: you apparently do not have any idea what the actual good works we have been created to do are. Nada

Dude you are already ignoring what the Bible actually states so ignore me all you want. I will sleep real good tonight

but you do understand that what you are saying about the gifts is not biblical? no you don't? (shrugs)

anybody else want to discuss the difference between spiritual gifts and 'works'?

Where have I declared that salvation is gained by works.

Sorry, but all are ignorant, including myself, for none know all of the Word as does God Who is the Word. If it bothers you, I am afraid you do not know what is said even printed before your eyes.

No man is saved by works except by the blood of the Lamb of God. However if a man receives Him and then ignores the works He has given us all, he will have no wite garment when it comes to our being raised to His glory. Do not be so thin skined and except the truth of the Word.

Faith without works is DEAD, useless.
amen

“No man is saved by works except by the blood of the Lamb of God. However if a man receives Him and then ignores the works He has given us all, he will have no wite garment when it comes to our being raised to His glory. “

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:8-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds: to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

but glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

…..in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to our gospel.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:5-10, 16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

grace teaches these things too is what many can’t understand or acknolwedge aThats why these things are in all the nt epistles and gospels ….

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭2:11-15‬ ‭

Gods true grace doesn’t remove all of the teachings of what we need to stop doing and need to start doing our actions or deeds or some might say our “works “ just what we actually do is the idea. We do have to be judged by those things we actually do based upon what we believe it won’t absolve us from our deeds because we say I believe belief of the gospel is meant to change our hearts and minds and being our deeds into line with Gods Will so we can have our sins remitted in Christ by the gospel before we have to be judged for them .

awe can’t keep sinning and expect we’re already forgiven is the idea that’s absolutely not what grace means if we remove all of the teachings about judgement and repentance and changing our deeds ……we’re falsifying grace into lasciviousness removing what’s meant to change us from sinners to children of god who walk in the spirit

Amen reminds me of this

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15:2-6, 9-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It seems a harsh message but truth always makes sense later if we just follow the lords doctrine in the gospel

“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:”
‭‭2 John‬ ‭1:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We Will bear fruit even if we don’t bear as much as another if we will abide in his word as disciples he will change us and make is stronger and better and more capable Jesus wants our hearts to call him lord and mean it then it becomes not about failure and success but abiding in the soirce like a bind and branches or trees and roots

loved reading you and brother J discussing there
