black friday

lol For real, that’s why I felt like a fool when none of the big expensive items were on sale. Basically you had 50% off or 75% off on stupid gadgets or digital cameras which were the hot new thing back then.
But if you want to buy a new fridge or stove? Nope, no sale there.
Nowadays it’s all digital sales but the name and the tradition continues. Now it’s more like Black Monday sale in the digital world because most of the stores have shut down, especially after COVID.
And yeah, it doesn’t seem to have the same impact as back then, since there as so many sales throughout the year and this one seems like just another sale.
Amazon will probably make a cool billion this year tho, from all the stupid gadget sales this coming Black Friday or Monday.

I can't argue there. I've been guilty of doing a search and talking to someone who might have been dead for half a decade myself. Lol.
I'm bad about checking dates.

As to black Friday sales and standing out in the cold all night, you'll need to ask my brother. He's the video game addict that stood outside Best Buy all night years past for the latest game upgrade.
Then he turned around and sold it for a profit. Lol.

Drive past Walmart the other day and they already had signs up for their "black Friday sale".

You know, for some of these folks who have a mindset to collect things and never open them .... turns out that's quite an investment.

For example, a first generation iphone with 4GB or memory, unopened from the box, sold for around $200,000 in an auction.
Similarly a NES Mario game, from the late 80s, unopened from the box, sold for some insane amount of money too.

That's a major investment. It's kinda like the right crypto currency though. When Bitcoin was introduced, I would have invested everything in that had I known.

Another thing is that the seller knew where to sell in order to reach that market with the rare phone collectors.

I know these people exist, but I do not understand them. If you never take it out of the box you can never use it. If you can never use it you are not fulfilling its primary function.

And if you have that much money to pay for something you will never use... Could you give me some? =^.^=

Yes, it doesn’t have the same effect anymore. They do week long sales now so that old habit of staying outside in the cold for hours …. Is history now.

a long time ago, i worked near a shopping mall. on black friday, the place was beyond crazy.

long lines. people lining up outside for hours, the ladies in the office at my work place would meet there at 5 am to go get in line for stores to open at 7.

and the traffic??

Yeah the spectacle as is illustrated by those gifs and clips above is what made it entertaining.

Black Friday isn't what it used to be. For some stores it's a year round event of mediocre sale prices. Wal*Mart already had a Black Friday sale on 10 Nov. I'm sure they'll have a few more where they try to get rid of junk from their inventory.
