@Gojira , were you disagreeing? and if is, with what? or was the x just an expression of dislike. Symbols are just as difficult to understand than the written word.
There are many 'wishing' for this. But if wishes were... nvm, I forget how that saying goes.

I encountered news of Trump's acquittal of the Jan 6 insurrection trial. Was this a valid claim? I don't keep up with the news much.
Hello Mem... I'm done with the thread. I launched my arguments, I've made my points. And, I'm tired of some of the utterly foolish counter-arguments I'm reading. It's up to those on the fence to make up their own minds.

I guess my last thoughts on this will be these...

I've read unbelievable counter-arguments to my points that a) have shown what I believe is a misunderstanding of Scripture, b) have shown an inability to read what has been written without pushing meaning into it to validate their own views, and c) have shown that the side that believes politics is no place for the Christian does not really understand where the other side is coming from.

When they say that politics doesn't save, only Christ does, I say "You're right! And??" They think that we who care about the political realm are really hoping to bring Heaven to earth shows a tremendous lack of proper reasoning on their part. No one I've read in these threads has said that, I never said it, and I never implied it. And yet, this is still what they accuse us of. They do not comprehend what we are saying, which can be due to several causes, none of them flattering.

I'm sorry, but in light of all these errors, the side that says the Christian should not care about politics, all sides are equally bad, they're all sinners and therefore none deserve our support, have clearly not thought their positions all the way through. Rather embarrassing. And, dangerous.

However, as a small concession, there is something to be said for the fact that politics / national pride can become an idol. We are not to be so heavenly-minded that we're no earthly good, JTB, Stan, etc... But, we should not be so concerned about worldly matters that we lose sight of the spiritual and eternal. We all need to seek God for the proper balance.
we're called to go forth and do good in this world, all spheres of this world.
it's really all we need concern ourselves with. :)

Would I be an American, I would elect the Rep. no question. But not if Trump is there candidate.
He can speaking well, what his people want to hear. He can very pretty manipulate people. He is saying and doing much good things. But only with the goal to make himself great again.
His saying and acting a Christian, what he claimes that He is. Is total untrustworthy.
I dont believe this is a kind of what a good Idol should be for his nation.
But it will comes as God will. For to fulfill his plan with the world.

I agree... In moderation. We shouldn't get all tore up about politics. It's a waste of high blood pressure.

But we should
Do good
Where we could

On the other hand, they were saying the same thing about "this fits bible prophecy" back in the 70s when it was so popular to rebel. In fact they've said it my whole life.

Shoot, in the party days of the late 20's I bet a lot of Christians were saying it. "All these hedonistic flappers burning their bras and doing all kinds of carnal things... It's a sign of the end times, I tell ya. Jesus probably gonna come back next week, the way things are going."

All I'm saying is, we shouldn't just throw up our hands and resign ourselves to riding out the last few days. We don't know if it'll be another four hundred years before Jesus returns. We should be taking SOME kind of interest in the world around us. You know... just in case Jesus doesn't come back next week.
Believers since Jesus ascended have said their generation would see Jesus return.

And in a way they are right - that car crash, that heart attack, that your-ticket-is-punched moment ... that's YOUR rapture, baby. And as the farmer was warned, it could come for us this night.

Gojira thinks any logic that doesn't match his is not logical. That people put words in his mouth. Perhaps he does not logically think thru what he is saying, and those people see it.

For example, his logic that my saying we shouldn't be politically involved means I say we are to do nothing, distinctly proves he's not listening. Because I never said we are to do nothing.

What I said was, instead of trying to change thru politics that which has been prophesied , WE SHOULD INSTEAD BE PREPARING FOR WHAT WE ARE TOLD WILL COME. But that doesn't line up with his logic, so he completely misses that and instead reads into MY words that we should do nothing.

Pot, meet kettle.

What God prophesied WILL come to pass. We can try to change it, or we can take Him at His Word and PREPARE for it as he told us to.

It's as simple as that. Preparation vs prevention, and which one of those God told us to pursue.

I don’t believe any president has ever been a traitor. They might have been narrow minded, narcissistic, mean, stupid and so forth, but a traitor? An accusation like that requires solid evidence, and a ton of it.
Do you never like to face the truth? There are many who have provided solid evidence to call Joseph Biden a traitor. And "A person who commits treason is known in law as a traitor. "

Ooh! Ooh! I know that one! Luke 22:35-38. Jesus tells his disciples "Look, remember how I sent you out with no defense to spread the gospel? Well the times are changing and now you'd better have a sword. In fact if you don't have a sword and can't get one, you'd better find something to sell so you CAN get a sword, even if it's selling off your coat."

Great, so now rather than trying to get folks saved, we gonna be stabbin them with a sword!

I think you are misunderstanding having a personal weapon for self defense only as a last resort versus "hey, let's go whack everyone that isn't Christian and take over the world for Jesus!"

Yeah, I've heard that one all my life too.

That was a cheap shot dude. I never said "Jesus is never coming back."

But, you were saying something very similar to "all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation"

We should all be living as though we are going to stand before the Lord at any given moment.

No matter how we slice this - these are OUR last days and in our lives are short and getting shorter by the day.

The early church WAS under the Roman Empire. Seriously??
Er, yeah. Read the Gospels and the Book of Acts.

Christians could have done much to counter the Nazi movement before it got so powerful.
Not in Germany, they were all following calvinism and other false doctrines

Kinda like it is here in the US now!

Anyway, you're welcome to the last word on this. I've got to agree with JTB on this. I engaged, I fired, I made my points, but with the likes of you, I need to keep making them. I also have to correct your marvelous misreading of what I wrote, and in my opinion, you've misused Scripture. Time to move on.
By all means, I'll need to adjust my priorities and pay attention to politics more than the PRIMARY mission the Lord assigned to His Church which is to win the lost and make disciples. Not! disagree.gif

You may not mean for it to sound like this, but that's the way it comes off as though we all gotta get in to politics because "oh my gawd, the country is going down the tubes and we gotta stop it fast or else we're all doomed - run to the hills!" running.gif

You'll have to excuse me as I'm not a big fear guy like so many Christians are concerning politics.

Plenty of warnings in God's Word concerning the world getting darker and darker in the end times so we should all be aware of this and not be alarmed and worried as so many obviously are. It's embarrassing how some Christians act!

I can tell you this, even if Trump does get re-elected and has some really great people in his cabinet... very little will change and the world and this nation will continue it's downhill spiral.

I'd prefer Trump over anybody the democrats could possibly have as a candidate myself, but there is NO political solution that's going to make the world better. The world has become globalist and the one world government, one world religion will come forth run by the one world leader, the anti-christ

All I can say to believers like you is is that you had better wake up fast. History is not kind to such.
I'm awake, and looking at things from the Lord's perspective and not thru the dark minds of men who are scared out of their gourd at what is coming on the earth!

Luke 21:26
Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Luke 21:34
take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

That's funny. It'll never happen!

That would be like putting out an arrest warrant for satan!

Nothing is going to get better until Jesus returns, locks the devil and his demons up, and personally takes over management of this world's affairs

Only then will we finally have good government!

It’s seems to me that you are not familiar with the process of establishing evidence against a person which can lead to a conviction. Furthermore, these actions, in case of proven beyond a reasonable doubt, must be punishable by law.

What you have provided in your response to me is no more than allegations yet to be proven. In addition to that you have not provided any arguments for these claims to be punishable by law.

What you have provided is opinions from a variety of people who have their own agendas.

No matter. From what I understand, if A has B on ignore, and C quotes B's post, A can't see the quote either. So Gojira still doesn't know I even got involved.

Similar?

A doorknob is similar to a wheel, but only one will move a wagon. H2O is similar to H2O2, but only one is safe to ingest.

Also... Explaining to a random argumentative person on the internet how similar things are NOT identical is similar to a job, but only one gets me a paycheck. >.>

You aren't really reading what we say. You're just reading until you find something that makes you say, "Oooh I know something I can use to disagree with that!" and slap your reply down.

If you read what we actually said, you would not have any arguments at all, because you would know what we really MEANT instead of what you think we meant.

Similar?

That does seem to be the motis operandi here at CC, on everyone's account. We all seem to read to respond, not to listen.

Sometimes we read a point that has already been seen and responded to, and figure further response on that point is fruitless. So those points get left out of our response.

These are not really debates to be won. They are points to be considered. By one statement he made, Gojira (oops doing it again) seems to think if he does not convince someone, he's failed. But overall, we will rarely know what comes of the seeds we plant.

Like me. I get the point that we shouldn't stand back and do nothing while this country and the world goes down the tubes. And it certainly seems un-American to abstain from the election process. And I don't mean that we shouldn't be involved at all, tho I know it can come across that way. But the bigger point is, what are our expectations in reality? If God thought we could vote our way out of the worlds destiny, I'm sure at some point He would have said "go forth and vote"

But instead He says, this is what's coming, go forth and prepare for it.

I think Trump, having so many narcissistic type behaviours is spinning out of control and desperate.

I am not sure why you and @true_believer keep harping on his lack of morals, ethics etc., it is not like you have someone better to showcase, in fact he is worse.
It's pretty cut and dried. Any with any sense of morality or decency should NOT support Trump. Period.

Should they instead support biden who is with the communist cabal trying to destroy this nation?

Sometimes in this life we have to go with the least evil choice or make no choice at all.

Personally, I'm not going to bother to vote anymore since this nation no longer has fair and free elections.

On election day it would be more beneficial to stay home and watch the Bugs Bunny / Daffy Duck hour on TV!

Even if Trump is re-elected not much is going to change as the nation is still on it's downhill trajectory and won't be coming back.

This is because in order for the globalists to bring forth the coming one world government they need the US to be brought down to third world status which of course is why the southern board remains open.

I don’t believe any president has ever been a traitor.
Your response to my earlier post regarding this lacks credibility. Under the US Constitution and US laws, giving aid and comfort to the enemy constitutes treason.

1. Is Iran the sworn enemy of the United States? Absolutely.
Iran is no mere adversary, it is America's mortal enemy
https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-771089

2. Has Joe Biden given aid to Iran? Absolutely! OVER 71 BILLION dollars. Not counting the additional 10 billion given recently. "According to The Daily Signal’s calculations, Iran has received approximately $71.02 billion more under Biden than it would have under Trump."
https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/10...-admin-freed-iran-hamas-terror-attack-israel/

3. Has Joe Biden given aid to the Taliban, which is also America's enemy?

By Jack Detsch, a Pentagon and national security reporter at Foreign Policy, and Robbie Gramer, a diplomacy and national security reporter at Foreign Policy. The estimate was 80 billion dollars worth.

Billions spent on Afghan army ultimately benefited Taliban
https://apnews.com/article/joe-biden-army-taliban-185017ba2944eb43392a0ad8ffffb25f

WASHINGTON (AP) — Built and trained at a two-decade cost of $83 billion, Afghan security forces collapsed so quickly and completely — in some cases without a shot fired — that the ultimate beneficiary of the American investment turned out to be the Taliban. They grabbed not only political power but also U.S.-supplied firepower — guns, ammunition, helicopters and more.

The Taliban captured an array of modern military equipment when they overran Afghan forces who failed to defend district centers. Bigger gains followed, including combat aircraft, when the Taliban rolled up provincial capitals and military bases with stunning speed, topped by capturing the biggest prize, Kabul, over the weekend.

4. Has Joe Biden given aid to the Mexican drug cartels which are sworn enemies of America? Absolutely.
AG MOODY RELEASES DHS DOCUMENT SHOWING BIDEN ADMIN. KNOWS DRUG CARTELS ARE CONTROLLING ILLEGAL MIGRATION AND PROFITING FROM CHAOS AT SW BORDER

This is clear evidence of treason, but obviously you have ignored the evidence, and so have the RINOs in government who did absolutely nothing.

Also, while technically the destruction of your own country is not precisely "levying war" against, in practical terms that is exactly what it is. I have posted in Christian News how Biden has destroyed the US military, and now military personnel will hold all the corrupt militrary leadership accountable, and even court-martial them. But Biden is the one ultimately responsible.

And Joseph Biden has been SYSTEMATICALLY destroying America in many other ways. Bur once again, you have shut your eyes to the truth.

Just another day in Biden's America. Why was Redden, who was charged with attempted battery not in restraints?

Despite his criminal history, Redden hoped the judge would go soft on him. KLAS reported Redden’s attorney pleaded with Holthus to sentence his client to probation and allow him to make bail. Judge Holtus decided that would prove unwise, though. She says in the video, “I think it’s time he (Redden) gets a taste of something else.”

This is what the 'defund the police' movement/mentality has brought us to.

Redden responds by uttering multiple curse words and jumping over the judge’s bench to attack her in a vicious manner. He can be heard repeatedly punching her and yelling obscenities while security officers desperately try to stop him.

Story time!

Once upon a time an Army sniper was out at the shooting range, plugging every target dead-center. A rookie commented to a drill instructor in admiration about the sniper's skill. The drill instructor went out and said something to the sniper. The sniper missed his next three shots by half a mile.

"Wow, what did you say to him?" asked the rookie.

"I just made the observation that if this was a real battle, those targets would be shooting back."

Moral of the story: It's easy to take shots when there's no return fire. I'd like to see some people in this thread, or on this forum, sitting in a cafe in a liberal state - Somewhere in Seattle or Vancouver, maybe Portland - just to see how much quieter they would be. Why, I bet they wouldn't say a word about the opinions they tout so brashly here on this safe forum.
