Haven’t you heard the latest!
There is a fence and it belongs to the Devil.
For flat-liners, this fence is probably the ice wall that keeps the ocean from falling off into space. With an ice wall barrier, global warming could prove to be problematic.

That makes no sense, if the earth were a sphere and there is a pit in the earth it couldn't be "bottomless". If it were bottomless then the Earth is a donut, not a sphere.
This is good reasoning... (y)

The term bottomless suggests (to me) a portal to another dimension.
Yes - and, it takes you directly to the 'dimension' of the opening of the hole at the other end. :D

After thinking about it again - I do not believe it could be a donut.

Where is the bottom of the hole in a donut?

So - let's see - the shape of the earth has to be something that allows for a bottomless pit - having distinguishable top and bottom...

If a pit is "bottomless", why would it have a "distinguishable... bottom"?

Yep, bottomless seems to indicate no bottom, and a pit usually has no top or roof.

Why does the pit have to be in the earth? Personally, I don't believe that it is.

Revelation 9:

1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

key words: unto arose

sun and air darkened by smoke from bottomless pit

Seems to me to be talking about a pit in the earth.

Personally, I don't believe that it is.
Where do you think it is (or, will be) - in "outer space"...?

Otherwise, you have two tops and no bottom. ;)

Unless whatever shape the hole is going through has a distinguishable top and bottom, you cannot have a bottomless pit.

You cannot have a bottomless pit if there is no bottom.

Fallacy: non sequitur.

Unless whatever shape the hole is going through has a distinguishable top and bottom, you cannot have a bottomless pit.

You cannot have a bottomless pit if there is no bottom.
Read those two sentences again. And again. Read them until you understand that they are self-refuting and therefore ridiculous.

Okay - perhaps, I did not word it correctly - but, you know what I mean...

What I was thinking follows what I said in post #411.

In terms of the 'pit', it is bottomless. In terms of the 'hole', it has both top and bottom.

I was speaking in terms of the 'hole' and not the 'pit'.

Sorry - I should have made that clear.

This kind of thing sometimes happens when I am on my lunch break nearing the time when I must get off of here and go back to work. :(

Understandable. I've made hasty replies at times too... and regretted my haste when I see my error later. I've found that if I feel rushed to post a reply, it's best for me to stop and wait until later.

Satan is a spirit being. I believe that the pit he will be in is a spiritual pit, not physical. I could be wrong, but a bottomless physical pit makes no sense to me.

So - the locust creatures that come out of the smoke from the pit fly around stinging humans without having any kind of 'physical' form???

The detailed description of the creatures in Revelation 9 is only referring to 'spiritual' features...???

Or, are you saying that 'physical' creatures somehow come out of a 'spiritual' pit?

Scripture is replete with examples of "spiritual" entities taking physical form.

I don't know. I do know that the spirit being Satan appeared in a physical form in Eden. Angels can also put on human form.

I have discovered that as well - and, generally try to operate by that principle. But, occasionally, an exception will occur. :(

Oh, well...
