Hey Everyone,

Let's all bring out our inner Karen's today :p and talk about things that just didn't go our way!

In your post, please share:

1. What you expected: Tell us about a product, situation, social interaction (a date, meeting, volunteer work, etc.) that you had high hopes for.

2. What you actually got: How did this product, situation, or interaction go horribly wrong?

3. What was your result: How did the results make you feel? Did you go out and try something else because of it?

4. End your post with: I want a refund!

Example:

1. What I expected: I wandered into Lynx's "Would you ever eat...?" thread expecting a fun, lighthearted thread about various types of foods.

2. What I got: a detailed, terrorizing description of the cooking and cannibalization of several beloved characters from Winnie the Pooh -- Tigger was being slow cooked, Roo was turned into a rotisserie chicken, and the Heffalumps were all baked into a pie!:cry::cry:

3. Result: extreme trauma and loss of my childhood.

Conclusion: I WANT A REFUND!!!

Ok, now it's your turn! :)

* What are some things in life that you wish could be taken back like a bad meal at a restaurant?

I'd like to hear all about the times you wish you could speak to the manager and demand, "I want a refund!!"

I try to not think about situations where I would have liked the option to demand a refund. I find it's bad for my blood pressure. And my digestion.

Video games especially - if the trailers show little or no gameplay, better check out a let's play on youtube before you get it. Don't get me started on the preorder trap. And why are so many unfinished games ALWAYS on sale? Shouldn't you finish the game before you start even thinking about discounts? It looks like desperation from here.

Ahem... Yeah, I'm gonna stop thinking about that now.

as a recovering pessimist, i still never have high hopes :p
What I know: NotMyOwn has been one of the sweetest, most compassionate, and wisest people I've met on the forum. She has a myriad of life experience with marriage, family, and so many other areas of life. She's NEVER patronizing and always wants to hear your side in detail. I've even talked to her about controversial subjects (imagine that! Me, controversial? NEVER!) and she was always patient and firmly rooted in faith.

What I'm hearing: NotMyOwn is/was a pessimist?!! :eek::eek::eek:

I'd never know it from the way she's talked to me.

But after this shocking revelation...

I WANT A REFUND!!!

But it's pessimists who never demand refunds. They didn't expect much anyway.

It's those doggone optimists who are always after refunds when their pie-in-the-sky turns out to be made with storebought crust and instant pudding.

What I Expected: I tried a new face lotion dubbed a "gel-cream", thinking it would be a light option for summer that I wouldn't even notice it on my skin.

What Happened: I woke up with my face feeling like it had been dunked in one of Winnie the Pooh's Honey Pots.

1719413000357.jpeg

My face was so sticky, I literally had to feel it off of my pillow!

The Verdict: I'm think I'm going to use it up on my knees and elbows, but I don't care that I got it free as a birthday promotion!

I STILL Want a Refund!!! 😡

What I Expected: I bought what I thought would be a light, refreshing perfume, also for summer. The bottle's description made me think it was going to smell like "a clean shower, with a hint of fig." Never mind that I have no idea what fig is supposed to smell like.

What Happened: This perfume makes me smell like a pair of leather shoes -- after they've been sitting out in the rain.

I don't care that I bought it without being able to test it first and that was my own fault.

I WANT A REFUND!

Go back to talk to the manager with your receipt and it should be refunded. They will recover the wholesale cost somehow. What you have is possibly false advertising. I'm no lawyer and I don't even watch the ones on TV, so take it with a grain of salt. Maybe put some on a rag when you walk in and first ask if this doesn't smell like wet shoes?
Then ask for a refund so you can buy something appropriate.

Have you ever tried essential oils?
They aren't really perfumes, but there are some that smell good and fresh.
I add wintergreen and peppermint oil to pure Castile soap. It can be diluted with coconut oil too.

I actually bought it online, so you know, by the time you pay to ship it back, it's not even worth it.

I'll be seeing some friends later this year -- I'm going to see if one of them will like it. :) The big problem with fragrance of course, is that it's highly individualized. Your body chemistry will affect the scent and it can smell differently on each person. Someone brought me a perfume from Paris once, and I felt so bad! It smelled like insect repellant on me, but on a friend, it was lovely, so I gave it to her.

Having worked in retail my whole life, I do feel bad returning things (when I say I want a refund, it's almost a half-hearted joke.) Most places don't get reimbursed for such things and just have to eat the losses. In fact, there's a big debate in the beauty community about how returns usually to to landfills and raise prices because companies have to make up for it somehow.

I've tried to sample essential oils in stores but they always seem a little too strong for me. I've also read that some are not safe to inhale or put on your skin, so to avoid any problems, I've just stuck with things that are supposedly designed for the skin.

Soapmaking was another hobby I wanted to get into but I don't have the best ventilation, and wouldn't have the space for all the supplies.

Thank you for all the suggestions! Your Castile soap sounds lovely. :)

Once upon a time a group of people sold me an idea of a peaceful meetup week.

What I got was being pestered and harried by a blue-green stuffed owl.

I want my money back!

You can't get a refund on clearance items, and those recipes on how to cook tiggers and hephalumps and rotisseried roo was an Odd Lots special. Haaa!

I find most of my cosmetics this way so that, when I find the perfect foundation that matches my skin tone to a t... I can't ever find it available again anywhere. Like Josie Maran Vibrancy Argan Oil RG60 "Jubilant."
But, after an extensive search, and many failed attempts at finding it having misremembered it to be from Mariah Carey's collection because I wasn't sure if I recalled a butterfly or an "M" about it, I was able to obtain a vial of One Direction's "Our Moment" perfume spray. I don't use it though, but just keep it in case I can never find it again. I did this with Avon's (or was its affiliate Mark...) Lemonsugar body mist. I just have it on my vanity for my own sniffer's enjoyment. At any rate, I came across an article claiming that Asians are less inclined to have B.O., so I've reached the conclusion that, if I don't have a problem with B.O. in the first place, why would I risk messing that all up mismatching a particular scents' chemistry with my own natural chemistry.

However, I recently got my hair did after the style of a Karen! (and if I put on any scent, I place it on my hair)

I use a diffuser sometimes.
With essential oils you do have to learn before buying . They have different qualities and uses because they are all from the varieties God created. Some aren't good for skin. You're right. Some are strong and need enough dilution with coconut oil..

I didn't know that about perfumes. I got a temp job at the university once and remember feeling bad for embarrassing the poor lady. I thought an exterminator came in after hours and sprayed for bugs. 😆
Had no idea that some perfume could smell like that on some of us.

The Exterminator.

Sorry for the loss and let down. It's a shame that didn't work. I hate the excessive shipping cost on everything these days, don't you?

I found a use for the old colognes.
Mix with some Vaseline or cream I don't want. Put on cotton swatches and stick them along my fence line to discourage deer. I have neighbors who poach and shoot my deer when I'm not home. Wet shoe smell might attract the neighbors dogs though.

LOL!!

I wanted to put an "angry" or at least a "disagree" emoji on this post , but I wasn't sure if there were any new friends who might not realize I'm joking -- well, sort of. :p

@Lynx -- if you would have just given the owl a pat of acknowledgment (and a cookie,) I'm sure your week would have been much more peaceful. (The pat would have been for the owl. The cookie would have been for me.)

Just sayin'.

BUT, you used to always say the owl was just green, and now you're calling him blue-green, so at least we're making some progress here.

I have MANY HIDDEN secrets (of which some members on the forum have threatened to expose!) and this is one of the most closely-guarded all!

Yes, I'm afraid ALL the rumors are TRUE.

If you meet me in person, I will pester you with a stuffed critter -- until you start giving me baked goods.
