It sounds like there is an obstruction in the drain pipe from the house that connects with the sewer line. Tree roots can penetrate a drain pipe or in could just be blockage that has accumulated from years of use. The source of the blockage has to be found, it may take cutting off a section of pipe and splicing a new section in its place. Something like this happen to me once. It's going to take more that Draino or Liquid Plumber to correct this serious problem.
