    Onward Christian Soldiers !

This is as much for me as for all believers .. the Christian call to the spiritual fight... 1 Timothy 6:9-13 KJV But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. [10] For the love of money is...

    Are Baptists Calvinists?

I'm part of an independent missionary baptist church.. altho that is a label.. We would reject calvinism but believe in eternal security and assurance of salvation. So.. someone can resist Gods call for them to receive initial salvation.. but after receiving salvation by grace thru faith in...

    What does Proverbs 27:20 mean?

Yeah, you go it. Men's sinful desires know no end. The flesh goes after fleshly things. Nothing inherently good about people. So Jesus' sacrifice and payment for sins is magnified.

What method do you use to approach the bible ?

The trick is making the time to study and then let the bible interpret itself. Who is speaking to whom? What is the occasion ? What is the subject?

Fourth Charismatic Wave (of the Spirit)?

Yeah.. I remember attending a lot of charismatic and pentecostal services, and they all followed a very similar template. Worship in song heavily based on experience and emotion that would go for a large portion of the time. A message based similarly on experiences and emotion, emphasizing...

    Questions on Faith and Doubt

Well, to have faith, often you are overcoming doubt and fear. Faith is not blind, its grappling with doubts and fears with God, and having faith anyway. I cant remember who said it, but there is the quote of something like: Faith without fear, doubt, struggle, anguish, strife.. is not faith...

How do you know it wasn't done by witchcraft?

I think going to the conclusion of demonic activity would be a last resort. When all other possibilities are exhausted then it's more likely. Like a Christian psychologist who sees strange behavior in a client. They don't usually go for the demonic reason unless the various kinds of treatment...

    Trusting the Church Fathers

Okay, yes I see what you mean. Fair enough to say the addition isn't inspired, but I'm thinking tho, if it is consistent with scripture and accepted by scholars that way, is it a big deal? Wouldn't it be a lot more serious if it were an additional that warps what the rest of scripture teach?

    Trusting the Church Fathers

Again, if you learn to let scripture interpret itself in context, the writing of the 'church fathers' you can take some of it as sound, but compare it with scripture itself.

    The Lords Navy .

If in the process of salvation, a person HAS to be in effort to lessen their sins, then of course if their in sin in their life after salvation.. they would be told.. you were never saved in the first place. Turning from sin becomes salvation rather than the sacrifice and payment from Christ

Trust in the Lord, not man, but wait?

There is a difference between trusting a commentary or particular personality.... and letting scripture, which is Gods Word through mens own style of writing, speak for itself. For example, 'the church fathers' is a phrase often put as to following what they believe.. but what people are we...

    The teaching of works

If we receive Christ as Saviour, we might do good works but there is no guarantee. A new believer is a babe in Christ. They do have the Holy Spirit propelling them but that doesn't mean they will be faithful. It takes time to grow, for Jesus to be number 1. There is going to be fruit from...

    Blind to grace .

I have the understanding lordship salvation involves rather than simply believing Jesus is God, that He died for your sin and rose again, and that leading to Jesus saving someone.. That person would have to be lessening the sin in areas of their life at the same time, thereby making it self...

    Blind to grace .

Yes, it would be great if freedom in Christ, broken chains and liberty were preached more, but we also have increasing affects of sin on Christian's as the world gets more ungodly. My wife is divorcing me at the moment and when at church the pastor preaches on marriage, you cant ignore some...

    Work Out Your Salvation

There is being eternally saved, by grace through believing in Jesus initially. Then there is our response to the gift given if we have been saved. This is where our life is 'saved' thru continuous commitment to Jesus. Not eternal deliverance.. but daily deliverance from trials, evil etc...

    Understanding the Trinity

I've always had an issue in my own mind of calling the trinity distinct 'persons' It makes me think of seperate beings. Like 3 gods. When it's actually the one being, God, expressed in three substances. In the end though, there is no real difference. Substances can be the same as...
